Yamaha YAS207 Front Surround Soundbar System, Fabulous sound and really good bass

Very good sound quality, the surround fills the environment. Supports both dolby digital and dts over toslink or hdmi arc. 1 audio is supported only via direct hdmi connection.

I didn’t buy a sound bar to play it at low volumes so i haven’t suffered from the bass crossover problems which have troubled other reviewers. On the other hand, holy cheeses, this was a trial and a half to set up. The english language handbook explains everything in detail and absolutely nothing that will actually matter. Did your subwoofer arrived unpaired (in damaged pac kag ing) or you accidentally hit the pairing button while moving it?.Baffled how to re-pair it to the soundbar, because that’ll never happen?. Turn off the soundbar, hold the ‘subwoofer – (minus) button’ on the remote until you get a flashing light on the sound bar – the subwoofer will be paired in short order. These instructions may be in the manual but i couldn’t find them. Surprised you have to update the firmware, right out of the box, just to take advantage of the virtual 3d surround sound?. That 3d surround sound that was the entire reason you bought this soundbar instead of something else?. And it doesn’t work out of the box?. Well, go to the yamaha website, download the file, extract it and copy the extracted folder to a usb drive. Unplug the soundbar, plug in the usb drive, plug in the soundbar, hold the power and the volume, i want to say minus, button, basically the power button and the button two over to the left, together for about three seconds until the leds on the soundbar start ‘counting up’.

Great sound to be expected from yamaha the makers of sound and quality. Sounds great on 3d sound both on movies and music.

Comments from buyers

“A very average effort from Yamaha, detail and DSP isn’t very good, however bass is very controlled (crossover fixed), DTS Virtual X – A really immersive experience, Excellent Soundbar”

Upgraded from 5 year old samsung bar which was more expensive than this model but a year a later the sub stopped working and samsung did want to know. However, this yamaha is better in every way and well worth is its price.

It is very good solution for that price. I enjoy the sound comming out of this bar. Dont need anything better for longer while.

Fantastic value for money sounds fantastic.

This thing is worth every penny, it’s a go.

There seems to be quite a bit of conflicting information and reviews regarding this soundbar: it’s faults, it’s flaws, what it can and can’t do. So i thought i’d dip my ore into the water to give my opinion. First off, i’ve had a bit of experience with sound, having worked in indi film and tv for quite a few years, as well as previously owning a 5. 1 surround set-up since they became a thing back in the 90s. That said, i’m no expert and everyone’s ears are different; mine are but one pair amongst billions. My first experience with this bar wasn’t great: i bought it from a non-amazon supplier and it was faulty. Yes, you guessed it, it had the well documented sub-crossover issue, caused by some unusual calculations by bods at yamama, crossing the lfe frequency at an inappropriate level (although understandable, given the size of the drivers). This caused voices to occasionally make their way to the subwoofer, with a sound akin to someone speaking into a jam jar. Not only that, but the sound was tinny and pretty flat. It was safe to assume at this stage, that i had a three-legged donkey.

Good value for what it does.

Good for money pleasant sound even on full power.

Le produit est arrivé dans les délais. Je recommande et le produit et le fournisseur.

Well pleased had no trouble with the sub unit. Must have solved the problem very versatile you can tune the speakers to suite your taste hade no trouble setting up. Peace of cake and i’m no expert.

After testing several i felt that this punches well above its weight. Yamaha sound projection technology really does impress from the moment you power up. I run this via hdmi arc and with sky q 4k the sound really does pop and immerse my liviingroom. One word of advice is to keep the volume above 25% to avoid subwoofer dropout when vocal audio is prominent. Once above this lower setting the system comes alive. I couldnt recommend it more.

Great sound quality good upgrade from tv speakers.

I installed it today,it came with a uk electric cable and not a european one but i fixed that issue, and its working fine. Setting up the soundbar is very easy, just plug it in and enjoy. Pro’seasy to update, it has hdmi ports, everything a 2017 man or woman needs to enjoy whatever they watch or listen. Not really, probably my setting is not perfect yet ( my first ever soundbar) so it might be my setup that’s not like it should be. Sound wise, very high quality, bass is adjustable and its good, very goodpairin the subwoofer with the soundbar normally is automaticly, so as soon as you turn on the soundbar it should pair. If not, just follow manual instructions and they work. The yamaha yas 207 is probably if not the best ô.

After a period of research i bought this soundbar and i haven’t been dissapointed at all. The main selling point for me was dts virtual x, i don’t have the room to cope with wired speakers but wanted a theatre feel with a decent surround experience. Having tried various other pseudo surround options and always being dissapointed, i was drawn into this with both excitement and trepidation and fortunately, it works better than i ever imagined. My review will pretty much focus on dts virtual x as this is the big difference between sound bars of it’s type and price range. It’s also pretty much the only mode i would recommend using, not that the others are bad, just that you lose a lot of immersion when running audio through the other modes. Firstly, let me manage expectations. A soundbar that sites below your tv and has a few forward directional speakers aimed at your listening position will not beat a room with 5, 7 or 11 speakers placed around your room and ceiling. That’s never going to happen. If that’s what you want and have the budget, the room and the understanding family then pursue that line of direction. If you don’t have the above but want an immersive theatre sound for your movie in your home then continue to read because this is the solution for you.

I was just blown away by this soundbar esp for the price. Room filling sound with effective subwoofer without you being hated by the neighbours. No issue with the bass dropping at all.

We didn’t buy this from amazon as we wanted to hear several different models so we went to richer sounds (worth noting that they price match amazon). We listened to quite a few soundbars and settled on this one. The sound quality was far superior than the others we listened to and some of them were much dearer than this one so we bought it. When we got it home it was really easy to set up. We have it connected to the echo dot too – worth noting that you can switch the standby function on and off – we’ve got ours switched off so alexa will always come out the speakers. Once it was set up we tested a variety of music styles and then played a blu ray and a dvd to test out the sound at home and we were not disappointed. This is a great value bit of kit for the price. We had a budget of £500 and ended up getting this as it was by far the best one we listened to so we had £250 left over which was a pleasant and unexpected surprise.

Don’t listen to the haters who claim to know sound like some sorta phd. All i listen to is bose everyday and i cannot tell the difference with these. It’s equaliser for movies is epic. All of this without maximum volume.

Simply amazing read many a review about this product,i have a bias towards yamaha so i decided to embrace the positive reviews and ignore the negatives. I am happy i did the former as i have an amazing sound bar in front of me that does all i envisaged a sound bar to do. I am excited and so is the wife.

Bought the 207 in july 2018, had zero issues with the crossover, assuming they have addressed this now. This item is a mixed bag so i will summarise the pros and cons. Prosexcellent controlled bass that won’t annoy the neighbours. Bass was not flabby and almost a bit too responsive and punchy if anything. Mobile app works well for ios. Sound is slightly above average, but that isn’t saying much in the soundbar world at this price range. Ok stereo field for a soundbarconsterrible treble, almost rolled off high end, sounds mushy. The dsp sounds awful and doesn’t really do much. Dts x sounds phased and robotic on normal sources, have no idea what it sounds like on x encoded video.

I am not a master in electronics and hi fi technology. But as a fan of sports on tv and movies/series, i think the sound is very good and the device is very easy to set up as well. One downside though is the fact that we do not see in the tv screen what the volume level is.

After researching soundbars and a new tv home cinema setup i decided to buy the yamaha yas207. I picked it up yesterday and fitted it onto the wall (looks nice floating) no cables showinganyway, i purchased this from richer sounds leicester, staff were great and with my budget this was best you could buy. Once i got it home & unboxed it all i connected this via hdmi arc, it didn’t take long to setup. Probably all in all one hour. Wow is the only way i can describe this soundbar. The dialogue is crisp, clear, bass from the sub is superb, it works really well for me. The soundbar is powerful and more than loud enough (coupled with the sub ) for any lounge just abouti did a firmware upgrade on the soundbar to ensure it was upto date – really simple only took one minute to update it, dts x works better, the sub plays better low bass end and i think yamaha have fixed the known issues. I would recommend this soundbar, the sound is fantastic it truly is.Great value for money overall* do the firmware update on it*.

Very good soundbar great sound for tv and films clear voices easy setup good quality equipment.

I spend a long time researching what soundbar to buy and i landed on the yas207. The sound quality of the yas207 is incredible. The virtual dtx does many movies justice. 1 but for a soundbar it’s a pretty impressive feat to pull of sending sound to the rear when there are no rear speakers. Io fired up a few movies to test out the surround and boy was it good. The sub produced a good thumping cinema sound and the dialogue is clear. Likewise for music, the vitual x adds an extra dimension to the sound, like you’re standing in the middle of the stage with the vocals and instruments surrounding you. If i ended there, this would be a 5 star review. However, the yas207 has a significant design flaw.

I have got the same issue as others. When you hear it at low to normal sound lvl (during the kids are asleep), some of the bass at the crossover range would seemed to be quite indecisive of coming out from the soundbar or the sub. Resulting in a sentence jumping between the sound bar or the sub. You could lessen this effect by putting the sub closer to the bar. For myself, i am quite annoyed with it and the soundbar is going back. Otherwise, it gives the best immersive surround sound i have ever tried with the dts-x virtual mode in this price range.

As per other reviewers, at low volumes and when watching content with low amounts of bass, e. Dialogue, the subwoofer cuts in and out as the low frequencies increase and decrease. At high volumes, it’s fabulous, but for improving the basic sound of a modern lcd panel it’s horrible.

Watching films the sound was really good, and i was really happy. However, watching tv especially at lower volumes the subwoofer randomly gave bursts of noise then was quest again, over and over. It was very distracting and totally spoilt the sound to the point i had to turn the sub off. Contacted yamaha and they said there was a firmware issue on some units and i should get a replacement. But they said the replacement might also be from the same batch and so there is no way to know if that will solve the issue. Amazon customer services were amazing and offered exchange or refund. I get a refund and went for the samsung 550 which sounds just as good, and no subwooferso right now if you watch tv i would say this is not fit for purpose.

The sound on this is pretty good when it’s working. It’s much better than the sound from the tv but only as long as the subwoofer works (otherwise it sounds the same if not slightly worse than the tv speakers). I wouldn’t say it’s worth the price but it’s simple to set up if you don’t want to go down the amp and speakers route. The issue is though, it regular disconnects and requires a switch off-and-on again of the subwoofer or sometimes the bar itself, which, for me requires crawling around the back of the tv cabinet. I wouldn’t buy it again as it seems this model seems to have an issue with subwoofer either not cutting in for low volumes or, in my case, disconnecting completely.

Bought the yamaha to replace my 3 year old philips 3140 sound bar based on yamahas reputation & the good reviews. Unfortunately it doesn’t sound as good as the old philips 3140 & is not as intuitive to use. Has poor flat mid & upper sounds. Even at £229 it ain’t good. I think now i’ll wait for philips new soundbar range due in 2019.

Updated: when i first received the soundbar, like others, i thought i either had a faulty connection or bad soundbar. Turns out they did little to know qa with this product. The crossover issue is so prevalent it has driven me to write to the company. Just received this and have updated the firmware to enable the virtual-x. Will write up a proper review after putting it through its paces. For now i have this:pros:-clearvoice technology is excellent and really makes a huge difference when enabled. -subwoofer has good oomph and since is wireless make placement easier. – virtual-x creates an amazing effect on some movies. – both movies and music sound crisp, clean, and some great highs and low range.

Turn off the soundbar, hold the “subwoofer – (minus) button” on the remote until you get a flashing light on the sound bar – the subwoofer will be paired in short order. 14. I hate to leave 1 star reviews but i’ve been really disappointed with this. After seeing the rave reviews and the what hi-fi award i though the couple of negative comments in the amazon reviews could just be exaggerating. But there is a serious problem with this soundbar, or more specifically the sub. The audio keeps dropping in and out almost all of the time. Whilst watching tv, youtube, movies etc. If there isn’t a lot of bass it sends the sound to the soundbar, if a boomy male voice comes on it will flick to the sub but then cut out when the next person talks. It’s worse than i ever imagined, some of the other reviews say it only happens during talk shows but it’s worse than that. Updating the firmware made no improvement. I’m afraid to see it’s being returned and a refund requested, no idea what i’ll get to replace itit’s a shame as it sounds amazing when watching a movie like the new transformers.
