Also trying to work out how to use internet radio ?.I currently have to stream radio from my phone to it. Not sure if there is some way of controlling the base and treble ?. Musiccast is a fairly complicated system.

Yamaha xx030 wireless speaker with bluetooth – looks good, sounds ok. . This is an ok little speaker from yamaha. There are two ways of connection, either by bluetooth or wifi. 5 mm audio jack input even with wireless speakers, so i can connect them to an older stereo, but this option is not available here. The speaker needs to be plugged into the mains when in use, another bad point as i felt something this size could have had a chargeable battery and been truly portable. It can be mounted on vertical or horizontal surfaces. Across the top are a set of soft touch buttons for controlling connection, volume and track advance.

Reviews from purchasers :

More than satisfies my need for music. . I am always a bit afeard of technology and looking at the instructions gives me a mild shudder. But i downloaded the musiccast controller app to my tablet and it was so simple to get it up and running. The sound quality is more than acceptable and no speaker wobbles when high powerful notes during opera playback. It is mono and and use the app to control treble and bass;i am happy with what i am hearing. It is for everyday music (e. Wallpaper) and not hi-fi playback and it does the job well. The app is very good for choosing artist, album or genre. The unit is plain black and simple.

Great sound, easy to install and link with.

Connection problems but good sound. . This is a wireless speaker that can be added to your network to play music fed from other devices or connected to from bluetooth. I have tested both of these methods using an iphone 6s. The bluetooth connection was fairly effortless, you press the connection button on the top and it appears in the bluetooth list on the phone. To place it on your network is a little involved and in my experience a little more flaky, which is why i have awarded 4 stars and not 5. You have to download a yamaha connection app and using this didn’t go so smoothly. I ran the software and followed the instructions but it couldn’t find the speaker, i then had to leave the software and connect to the speaker, then go back in the software and input network names and passwords. I tried on the 5ghz band first and it simply crashed the software. I tried the second time and had to connect again to the speaker’s own wifi connection, but it took a few goes and a power on and off on the speaker to show up. I got there in the end and was able to configure it to the 2.

Brilliant introduction to wireless music streaming. I just need some more speakers now. This is one part of yamaha’s new musiccast system – similar to sonos (which i haven’t used so i can’t compare directly)musiccast is basically a connected range of av and sound equipment to allow wireless music throughout the home or office – you can have multiple speakers in multiple rooms and play different streams or the same throughout the house. As i have only one speaker (at the moment) its basically like a very good quality blue tooth speaker but with enormous potential and extra abilities. To set it up you have to load the yamaha app – i’m using it on an asus zenfone 2 running android 5. 0 – without any issues at all). You then ensure the app and the speaker are on the same wifi network (i need to check but i don’t think it works on 5. 0 ghz – will edit this if it does) and after some delay it links up fine. You can then use the app to play music on your phone, via spotify (premium only not free) and napster, plus internet radio and via a network drive. I’m going to load up my music collection to a usb hard disc and use my routers usb port to see if this works easily – again will update review when i’ve tried this.

Great sound, easy to install and link with.

Excellent package of sound quality and function. The yamaha wx030 wireless speaker with bluetooth is a great solution. It offers internet enabled music and radio streaming services (i. Spotify) or can act just as a straight forward bluetooth speaker so you can quickly play for a range of devices. I received a white version of the speaker and it looks great, very modern and streamlined, a sleek appearance with low-profile controls that are easy to use. The set-up process was easy, the musiccast app walks you through the easy installation. It was all done in a few minutes. I immediately tested the speaker by playing music from my amazon music app on my iphone. It picked up the speaker and i could play it through airplay.

It generates so much bass for such. It generates so much bass for such a small device, that i had to turn the bass downonly 4 stars, because i bought this to go with my rn602 amp, with the intention of streaming vinyl to the kitchen, which yamaha say they’ll do; but there is a delay between what’s been played in the living room and what’s in the kitchen, which sounds horrendous if you’re standing between the two rooms (like at a party). I’ve been on the phone with yamaha support who acknowledge that it’s an issue, that may or may not be fixes in a future firmware update. I want to be clear though, that this delay only exists when streaming external sources (vinyl, cd player, tv, etc. If you’re playing internet radio, or bluetoothing from a phone, then it streams to multiple rooms perfectly in sync.

A comparison with the panasonic all3 wireless speaker system. The wireless speaker market offers plenty of choice, so i was interested to see how yamaha’s new product compares to others in a similar price bracket, such as the panasonic all3 wireless speaker system (white). The first test comes with setup; as is often the case with these systems you have to download an ios/android app (called multicast) to your smart phone first and run the setup from there. The instructions provided by the app are clear, but it took me three goes to get the speaker to connect successfully to the wifi. That being said, it’s a lot smoother and less fiddly than the panasonic setup. The multicast app is also pretty good; responsive, clean design and with the added bonus of a simple equalizer function to allow you to tune the sound to your preference and your room’s accoustics (note that you have to go into the ‘song playing’ page on your multicast app to access the equalizer – it’s not terribly obvious where to find it). It integrates well with spotify premium (not the free service, take note). Again a better experience than the panasonic. In terms of design the speaker is compact and robust, but the controls are terrible; they are touch-sensitive (rather than raised) and are incredibly difficult to see on a very similar-coloured background unless you shine a bright light on them. I guess 99% of the time you’re expected to control the speaker through your smartphone app so it’s not a huge issue, but it seems like a glitch that could easily have been avoided and the panasonic’s controls are much better.

Graet wirless speaker solution. This speaker is absolutely perfect, up until now i had always played music through my pc whilst working, however the sound quality is never that great. This high quality speaker is a great change, i have it connected to my network and can stream music from my iphone or ipad directly to the speaker or use spotify. The sound quality is very nice and has a really nice bass range, but perhaps lacks a little in the mid range compared to either sonos or bose, but i found is not that noticeable for background listening.

This is yamaha’s foray into sonos territory, and a very good job they’ve made of it. Intended mostly as part of the company’s musicast multi-room set up, it works perfectly well as a stand alone speaker. Firstly, and most importantly, it sounds great in a medium sized room, so much so that you forget you’re actually listening in mono. It also sounds just as good at low, background, levels, something not all speakers manage. Although it’s compact and easily relocated, it is mains powered only. Also, there are no usb or 3. All content arrives wirelessly via bluetooth or airplay. It also connects to wi-fi so that it can play internet radio.
