Wharfedale Diamond 10, Excellent surround sound speakers.

Great speakers for a little room. At £100, these stylish bookshelves speakers are a steal. They offer a fantastic level of sound detail while punching quite a lot power despite their small size. Absolutely ideal for an office or a small room.

Super quick delivery and great-sounding speakers with my cambridge azur 640a amp and sonos.

Wonderful performance, enhanced by being placed on stands.

“Fantastic sound and looks, As good as the old dentons & lintons, Excellent for their size and price”

Pro’s+ cheap+ sound great, especially mids and highs – they sound better than any active speakers for this price+ look really nice especially with the dust covers off. Dust covers are easy to on/offcons- they are passive speakers: this means you need a amp (between 25 – 75w) and speaker cable, the wiring is extremely easy. I use a pyle home pcau33 2x75w amp and they sound great. Active speakers require no amp as they are built into the speakers. Really expensive active speakers sound better than passive speakers (like these) as the inbuilt amp(s) are made specifically for each speaker driver for the best sound, for around this price (£90 at time of review) however, you will only find active speakers which are ‘powered’ these sound worse than passive speakers as they only have one cheap amp for every speaker driver inside each speaker. Look for ‘true active’ speakers for that better sound (can cost a ton though). – lack bass, but i knew this when i bought them and use them with a sub. I would say don’t buy these speakers if you listen to bass heavy music (dubstep, drub and bass, house etc. ) unless you have a sub woofer like i do.

Excellent, solid heavyweight speakers, great reproduction across the full range. Excellent at the original proce, better still with the discount for ‘old’ kit.

Small, cheap, and very capable. I got these speakers to actually use in my computer desk, as i’ve found (cheap and more expensive) computer speakers to be lacking for any serious listening. My expectations: 1) real hi-fi sound. 2) small speakers, to sit on a desk without any problems. 4) good quality 5) cheapi must say they fill the requirements without problems. 1 – the sound is clean and crisp, can be driven from a small t-amp (15w) or a bigger one (using a nad316 they fill an avg. 2 – at 15x15cm, these are among the most compact you can get. 3 – great bass for a 10cm/4′ woofer – it’s not earth-shattering, subwoofer-like deep bass, but it’s quite nice and clear. Finding such small speakers (really) capable of 55hz isn’t an easy task. 4 – from packing to looks to finish they mean business – very good overall quality. 5 – for the size, there aren’t that many capable speakers in this price range. Other thoughts: these are probably originally meant to be used as satellite speakers, for which they may also be great. 8)without any subjective listening experience or taste, the only rate i can give them is 5*.

Excellent for their size and price. My amp drives two pairs of speakers, so i could compare these against a more expensive and much larger, but older, pair of floor-standing yamahas (ns-45e). By choosing the right music, and concentrating, i can find a difference, but it’s very small. These are ideal for extending my hi-fi to cover my computer desk, where i play classical and mor music at moderate to low volumes. I have them on full-size atacama stands, because they replace a pair of jpw ap3s (rubber around bass driver dozed). They look a bit overwhelmed there, but i no longer need to worry about knocking them over by accident. Delivered promptly in a very manageable package, too, so it was easy to take home and didn’t cause comment when it arrived at work.

Great performance as rear speakers in my surround sound set up.

As good as the old dentons & lintons. I bought these speakers after looking for something as good as the the old dentons and lintons i owned many years ago. In the meantime i had listened through missions, bose & surround sound systems but wanted to return to a sound that was more true to how alot of music was meant to be heard when it was originaly created when mixed. After looking at old speakers on ebay with the prospect of replacing thr drivers and tarting them up etc i decided to give these a go when i spotted a ex dem pair for £ 89. Well how suprised was i to hear them give me exactly what i wanted : compact size with a big bass warm sound. I havnt had time yet to wire them up with top quality cables yet but they sound great with just cheap copper cable. Im using an old technics amp to drive them which i think helps but i think they will sound good with any medium priced amp. Speaker placement is always important and these have a hole in the back which pumps out a force ten gale so dont put them against a wall or they wont work as intended. Great small speakers buy em now.

I wanted to buy some beefier speakers to replace the front left and right speakers in my 5. 1 system and so i took a punt on buying these, assuming they would be better than what i originally had. I am so pleased i did as they they are a great pair of speakers and have greatly improved my 5. I have an 11 year old elac cinema 1 5. 1 speaker system, and although this system still sounded pretty good when watching films, music was always lacking in bass. This is because the elacs are too small to have any punch. These wharfedales, on the other hand, are much larger and have a much bigger bass woofer (10 cm) than the elacs (3 cm). Music now sounds really rich and full of bass. I use a yamaha rx-v373 receiver to drive them which is a budget receiver so i can only imagine how good the wharfedales would sound using a more expensive receiver. I am also using these in a small lounge so can’t comment on how good they would sound in a much larger room. I have kept the elac centre, two rears and sub while i save up to be able to replace these with the wharfedale equivalents. It is just a shame that the diamond 10. 0 speakers seems to have been discontinued 🙁 but the elacs work in harmony with the wharfedales and the system sounds great.

Excellent surround sound speakers. . Really please with these great sounding speakers. In fact they are probably too good to be simply used as surround sound back speakers, but they certainly do this extremely well and cope with louder volumes very well too.

0 speakers last month and they have been broken in gently. They are tight and powered by a yamaha 550bl reciever. The speakers are great and especially great for a smaller room, be it a bedroom or any living room. These speakers are lite at 3 kg each but pack a real punch. They have an impressive range for their size. Make sure you know the neighbours on a first name basis. They are smaller than missions ‘mx-1’ and at half their weigh but are very impressive and well constructed. I have no problem recommending these bookshelf speakers for anyone designing a mini system.
