Sound better than expected, battery life better than expected looks better than expected. Did not test the water resistance. Box that comes with it is poorly made only thing they could improve, also the app could have battery percentage and time remaining for the battery depletion.
I work in a noisy industry but the megaboom is up to it, it ticks all of my requirements and sounds better than some of my fellow workers players, who prefer to listen to my player with it’s lovely sound range. It doesn’t meet the battery life when played at full power, i got about 8 hours. If you download the app to your mobile you also get ‘alexa’ thrown in which can be a bonus. It beats most competition for size price power.
This is only my first impressions but this is amazing it sounds great and the bass did surprise me. The battery lasts around 17 hours at 50% volume which is very good. I am overall impressed with this speaker especially for 89 pounds can’t fault it.

, Wow! This was the bargain of the year!
, For the three months I was away the speaker was really great, very loud
Bought this is as a gift for my property developing parents who are often outside with work so needed something with great sound and waterproofing. Bought this after hearing a friends ue boom at a party and being blown away at the sound quality and volume from such a little device. Great charge on battery, looks slick with the maclaren designing and just as good as it’s boom counterpart.Easy to use, haven’t had a call from the parents on how to use new tech10/10 would recommend.
It’s volume is really impressive, it’s pretty dam strong, it’s not too big, the base is pretty good, the ue app is useful and you can change the equaliser. Had it for 8 months now and the battery problem other people have had occurred, but after leaving it on charge using the original charger that came with the speaker for a few hours it was fine again. Also, a couple hours to charge and the speaker literally does last up to 20 hours.
I bought the megaboom (mclaren version) for just under £90 over the black friday sale season and it’s fantastic. The sound quality is pretty awesome, and it gets loudone function that i’d forgotten about, is the ability to pair 2 or more ue speakers, using the ue app, to form a play party. Basically, the music plays from all linked speakers at once. Just open the app, link the speakers and play your music via an app such as spotify or deezer and you’re awayhaving used the speaker for just a couple of hours, i can’t report how long the battery lasts, however i’ve got the smaller ue blast and it’s great. If you’re still able to pick up this speaker for £90, don’t even give it a 2nd thought, it’s a genuine bargain.
The reviews were so promising. I really want to like this speaker but its just not that great. If i had paid the £140 – £250 price that some colours seem to go for i would be seriously miffed. I chose the rather garish mclaren one at £89, i don’t really care what colour it is. The build quality seems good an its easy to connect and use. The sound however is less than stellar. The sound is just not as rich as i would have thought. The bass is too thin and the mid tones are down right muddy at higher volumes. Maybe im expecting too much from what is a portable speaker?.
I got this for £100 on the black friday sale. I replaced my speaker system with this after it broke down. It takes up very little space and portable when need be – which is exactly what i need. I don’t worry about throwing it in the bag – it’s durable and i never ran out of battery (for my casual use) good enough for me. It is loud enough to be used in pubs/loud environments when my phone speakers fail. However, it is quite heavy and big though so may not be the most portable solution you’re looking for. I would double-check the weight and the dimensions. I was surprised when i first held it in my hands.
Awesome, piece of equipment. I am a bit of audio freek and like good quality music. The megaboom is absolutely fantastic, from the design to the actual sound quality ultimate ears have certainly done a good job. The design is very robust and that is good because i do not have to worry about it getting damaged or wet. The sound quality for exceeded my expectations along with the volume (for a portable speaker this is very loud). The battery is very good as well. I have been using the speaker for around 4-5 hours most days and i only charge it every few days. I would highly recommend this speaker to anyone.
Got this to replace a sonos play 5 – although it didn’t have the same power and range as the sonos it really is an awesome speaker for such a small size with great portability. Easy to use and connects to multiple devices.
Bought two ue boom 2’s two years ago and still absolutely love them. Sound quality and battery life are still as good as the day i got them. Now with the megaboom at £89 i had to buy two of these (even though i only needed one). I cannot believe just how good these speakers are.In house i can connect them both to my turntable via 3. 5mm jack and splitter and use them as a soundbar for the tv using the same method from the earphone out. Summer bbq’s i have one in the kitchen, one in the living room, one in the conservatory and one in the garden. All link perfectly through the app with no drop out thanks to the great bluetooth range. I don’t see the need for the alexa addition to the new model as i always control my music through my phone or tablet which are usually in easier reach than the speakers. I cannot recommend these enough.
Bought this as a speaker for work. I work with a bunch of guys that could pass gorilla’s half the time, nothing lasts. Doesn’t matter where we have taken it, still going strong. Beach, pool, climbing, cycling, all night party. Very robust and the sound is brilliant. It takes probably 10 – 20 hours to break the speaker in before the bass gets going. Once it does it’s awesome, especially considering the size of the thing. It’s obviously the largest boom speaker, but it’s still very portable.
£89 for the quality this speaker offers is great. I bought jbl charge 3 before and was so dissapointed with its miffled sound it went straight back. Considered new version of megaboom but i dont care about dust proofing, usb at side so saved a fortune and bought this one. Sounds brilliant and i am really pleased with it. Jbl looks quite cool but the sound is dreadfull in comparison. If you are considering both, buy this.
I bought this to use with a macbook before the apple homepod was available. It’s a very powerful speaker giving clear sound for movies and music. Links easily to apple products. Battery life is excellent and the time to full recharge is quite quick. You can also link more than one speaker together. If you don’t need a smart speaker like the homepod or alex, the ue megaboom is a relatively inexpensive alternative. I had one snag when the speaker simply would not connect – took me a while to figure out that it needed an update – this has to be done via the mobile app.
I’ve been through so many portable speakers and they’re never loud enough, there’s never enough bass and they never last very long. I gave up after a while with portable speakers and then ultimate ears came along. Everything about it – the sound, the design, the shape and size. I really do love my ue speaker. I was reluctant because of the price but it’s truly worth every penny. Side note – i’ve dropped my speaker on the beach before and all i had to do was brush the sand off wth my hand and it was like it never happened. Very robusti can’t think of any downsides to the speaker. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this brand as it is always good to have a brand you can rely on.
As far as bluetooth speakers go this isn’t bad. It’s very versatile and rigid. The sound is pretty decent and gets loud. It’s no hifi equivalent but it’s not meant to be. Bluetooth coverage is really good as well. I would recommend this product for every day listening.
My expectations for the ue megaboom 1 was set high having listened to the ue boom 1 in various settings, from small rooms to outdoor parks. Sadly, the megaboom did not meet my expectations for its price. The flat sound stood out the most with a very weak bass. Powerful mid range exceeded the low and high ranges, affecting the overall sound quality. Taking into account the different genre’s of music, equaliser settings (for the speaker) and spotify’s equaliser and sound quality- the speaker was not able to create the dynamic atmosphere that i was looking for. I will be returning the product in search for a speaker more set to my specifications. Other than the sound quality, i was not able to fully test the battery life, however, the high quality materials used on the product ensures significant durability and a sturdy build.
Awesome sound, ended up purchasing two to pair up through the app (panther and red white mclaren). Bass signature is great but lacks slightly compared to say the bose soundlink mini 2 but overall an excellent balanced sound and the trade off between portability, durability, pairing, battery life is well worth it. So far i have encountered no issues with battery problems. Perfect for holidays, poolside, beach, bbq’s etc especially with two paired together. Couldn’t be happier & i am seriously considering adding a couple more whilst they’re cheap.
I bought this so that i could pair it (party up) with my smaller boom3 but when i paired my phone i noticed that the megoboom was much quieter than the smaller boom2 (even on full volume) i will admit the bass is more noticeable on the mega boom. But it’s far from impressive. I’m very happy with the build quality. When used over nye the speaker did last all night. (which it should considering it boasts something like a 20 hour battery life) but the next morning i checked the battery life and it reported 1% whilst the boom3 was on 60%this leaves me slightly disappointed with my purchase but it was at a good price and works.
I love this speaker, it has great sound at low and high volume, so easy to use, the battery lasts for ages (i was playing it in my car for 5 hours at 50% charge and it didnt go down to 40%). The only minor complaint is that once it is charged, it doesnt hold the charge as well as i would like, nothing major, but it does lose a significant amount of power over a week or 2. But i read the reviews of this, some people complained about the charger cable not working, not had any issues there with mine. I was originally thinking of buying a bose soundlink as my mum has one and i really liked the sound from it, i dont notice any difference between her speaker and this, its very good.
I bough this speaker as it had nice battery life and value to the price was also very good in compare to other products. It’s quite loud but louder it gets sound quality is much worse in compare to bose revolvel link however is three times cheaper and i need it at work in noisy environment so that didn’t bother me. My only issue was battery life. First use it died after four hours from full charge but i used that few day after charging so though fair enough. Second time i took it straight off the charger long two days charge and again 4 hours and died. I think it was a faulty model which amazon is going to replace however blaming customer that overcharged its quite poor experience at it means that speaker doesn’t have any safety features to cut off charging while its full.
It is large compared to other bluetooth speakers and produces a good quality sound however i would not reccommend paying the price its listed at as its slightly overpriced. Yes its durable but i found the battery life runs out alot quicker than listed and takes a long time to charge. Overall though i was pleased with the product so i rated it 3 out of 5 stars.
This is the most expensive speaker i’ve ever bought. I love this speaker, from the look of it to the sound it is really nice. The app is a really nice touch giving the ability to turn the speaker on and off and change equalizers. This speaker fills up my (large) kitchen with loud sound. I can hear music even on the other end of the house clearly. This thing also *feels* tough, like it would take some work to damage or break it. It’s also much lighter than i expected but still has a good heft to itvery good buy i am really happy with my purchase.
Ue megaboom, 2 speakers, lag present ( on ios ) when in stereo mode bluetooth with 2 speakers with latest firmware as of dec 2017 ( tried older firmware 1. 71 and lag was reduced i think but still too annoying, but it had other issues and bugs and features missing ), it feels a tiny bit laggy with just one speaker but two is impossible to watch video, i think i’ll have to wait for portable airplay 2. 0 devices to come out for this to really work, does any brand support 2 wireless portable speakers in stereo without lag in video?.I mean i expect lag but airplay does a sync so the video delays itself by the same amount making it all appear in sync. So don’t expect to play video with 2 speakers in sync, but then i don’t think any wireless solution exists for this at this time. Sound quality, good but not great but then are any at this size?. They handle 50% volume fine but higher and it distorts – sure to have weaker bass i can accept but to distort so badly is a flaw imo and it should be calibrated to tail off the bass if it cannot handle it, maybe you like your music distorted and just loud though??, maybe that is expecting too much but even with 2 devices they don’t quite get where i want them for music with any kind of punch, the bass at lower volumes doesn’t distort but then is relatively weak unless the speakers are strategically placed in echoey locations say corners of rooms. Design, nice style and soft touch material, cannot plug in external audio or charger without turning device upside down though.
