It’s volume is really impressive, it’s pretty dam strong, it’s not too big, the base is pretty good, the ue app is useful and you can change the equaliser. Had it for 8 months now and the battery problem other people have had occurred, but after leaving it on charge using the original charger that came with the speaker for a few hours it was fine again. Also, a couple hours to charge and the speaker literally does last up to 20 hours.
This thing is rock solid and performs like s total beast. The pairing mode is awesome as it instantly turns a pair into a true stereo setup and if you use the aux jack, a recent update means there’s now zero latency which is real good for musicians. Ue have made another outstanding quality product. Always impressed with their stuff.
Great sound, nearly all the frequencies are there and nicely balanced. The sound only falters at super high volumes, but if you keep it below these levels (still plenty loud enough) you will be most impressed with the sound from these. Battery life is great, you won’t get 20 hours if you’re pushing them hard, maybe 8 or 9, but that’s still pretty good. And best of all they come with a no-quibble 2 year warranty. Mine developed a charging fault where it wouldn’t accept charge, a known issue on early models, but they sent a new one out very quickly, didn’t even want the old one back. Great purchase, mate of mine has two and i might do the same one day. Can’t go wrong with these, awesome speakers.
Comments from buyers
, Wow! This was the bargain of the year!
, For the three months I was away the speaker was really great, very loud
It is large compared to other bluetooth speakers and produces a good quality sound however i would not reccommend paying the price its listed at as its slightly overpriced. Yes its durable but i found the battery life runs out alot quicker than listed and takes a long time to charge. Overall though i was pleased with the product so i rated it 3 out of 5 stars.
This seems a well made, robust speaker and it certainly gets loud. The sound quality is pretty good for something this size but it can seem a bit harsh at high volumes and the bass a little boomy. But, that said, in most situations you wouldn’t need the volume anywhere near maximum. Using the megaboom app i was able to do a firmware update when i first got the speaker but the app seems a little flaky. It won’t always turn the speaker on and the volume controls are sometimes a little slow to work. But it’s not the end of the world and you can obviously use the speaker without the app. I’ve not encountered the charging problems some people have had. I charged it when i first got it and several hours’ use have reduced the battery to about 75%. I would imagine it will last somewhere around 14/15 hours on a charge. For the money this cost me, £89 on a deal, this is a more than decent speaker and worth buying but i’m not sure it’s worth the high price some versions of it are being sold for.
Works well indoors but better outdoors. Can also pair with other ue speakers and the remote app is genuinely useful (turn speaker on/off and fiddle with the equaliser settings). Goes surprisingly loud but bass can tail off.
Managed to get this for £85 . Bought this as a gift for my 16 year old brother as i am crazy over him haha. He could easily tell the difference in sound and quality. The colours are great, especially coz blue and orange have a special meaning between me and my brother so it was just so perfect in every way . He couldn’t stop thanking me. And i can’t stop thanking ue for this wonderful speaker .
I spent a good few days reading reviews as they are quite expensive and i wanted 2 of them. I would compare them with a midi stereo system sound/volume so £180 for a pair puts it in the same pricing as said systems. The one downside is the only instructions are h&s and battery disposal with no user manual so everything has to be web searched. Not had them long enough to comment on battery life or durability.
I bought this for going to bbq contests, i like music in my cook area but need something durable and water proof, preferrably with a bit of poke too. The megaboom is great, it sounds generally fab for a portable speaker. Ok it’s a bit lacking in bass for my taste, but it does well for it’s size. In terms of audio clarity for my needs though, i love it. Added bonus of being waterproof, thus i can clean it and all-day battery life for when we are at events with unreliable power. So much so, i’m going to buy a second so that i can run a stereo pair.
I’ve been through so many portable speakers and they’re never loud enough, there’s never enough bass and they never last very long. I gave up after a while with portable speakers and then ultimate ears came along. Everything about it – the sound, the design, the shape and size. I really do love my ue speaker. I was reluctant because of the price but it’s truly worth every penny. Side note – i’ve dropped my speaker on the beach before and all i had to do was brush the sand off wth my hand and it was like it never happened. Very robusti can’t think of any downsides to the speaker. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this brand as it is always good to have a brand you can rely on.
I work in a noisy industry but the megaboom is up to it, it ticks all of my requirements and sounds better than some of my fellow workers players, who prefer to listen to my player with it’s lovely sound range. It doesn’t meet the battery life when played at full power, i got about 8 hours. If you download the app to your mobile you also get ‘alexa’ thrown in which can be a bonus. It beats most competition for size price power.
Battery is great and the speaker is extremely well built so can just be thrown in a bag. One critisism is the software and widespread battery problems which seem to be fixed with software updates.
£89 for the quality this speaker offers is great. I bought jbl charge 3 before and was so dissapointed with its miffled sound it went straight back. Considered new version of megaboom but i dont care about dust proofing, usb at side so saved a fortune and bought this one. Sounds brilliant and i am really pleased with it. Jbl looks quite cool but the sound is dreadfull in comparison. If you are considering both, buy this.
Bought this as a speaker for work. I work with a bunch of guys that could pass gorilla’s half the time, nothing lasts. Doesn’t matter where we have taken it, still going strong. Beach, pool, climbing, cycling, all night party. Very robust and the sound is brilliant. It takes probably 10 – 20 hours to break the speaker in before the bass gets going. Once it does it’s awesome, especially considering the size of the thing. It’s obviously the largest boom speaker, but it’s still very portable.
I love this speaker, it has great sound at low and high volume, so easy to use, the battery lasts for ages (i was playing it in my car for 5 hours at 50% charge and it didnt go down to 40%). The only minor complaint is that once it is charged, it doesnt hold the charge as well as i would like, nothing major, but it does lose a significant amount of power over a week or 2. But i read the reviews of this, some people complained about the charger cable not working, not had any issues there with mine. I was originally thinking of buying a bose soundlink as my mum has one and i really liked the sound from it, i dont notice any difference between her speaker and this, its very good.
Firstly i loved the description, i love my music everywhere and something delicate and pretty was just not going to cut the mustard. Also being able to wash it is a big plusi ordered this beast on wednesday and it arrived 48 hours later. You know the sticky, pain in the face, security stickers?.Yeah well, it has them but they put none sticky tabs on them so it’s easier to open than grabbing the closest knife or scissors. Pull the tab, sticky label just pulls off. Not delicate pretty but durable pretty. All the cables are luminous green /yellow so you will know exactly who stole your charger and they are sturdy too, no flimsy rubbish here. Turning it on, your gran who can’t change the channel?. She will be able to turn it on, it’s that easy. Then the wonderful sound of jungle drums indicates that its on. Honestly, it’s like rolling the dice in a game of jumanji, you know you are in for a wild timebluetooth?.
I bough this speaker as it had nice battery life and value to the price was also very good in compare to other products. It’s quite loud but louder it gets sound quality is much worse in compare to bose revolvel link however is three times cheaper and i need it at work in noisy environment so that didn’t bother me. My only issue was battery life. First use it died after four hours from full charge but i used that few day after charging so though fair enough. Second time i took it straight off the charger long two days charge and again 4 hours and died. I think it was a faulty model which amazon is going to replace however blaming customer that overcharged its quite poor experience at it means that speaker doesn’t have any safety features to cut off charging while its full.
Bought this is as a gift for my property developing parents who are often outside with work so needed something with great sound and waterproofing. Bought this after hearing a friends ue boom at a party and being blown away at the sound quality and volume from such a little device. Great charge on battery, looks slick with the maclaren designing and just as good as it’s boom counterpart.Easy to use, haven’t had a call from the parents on how to use new tech10/10 would recommend.
I bought this speaker before summer 2017. For the three months i was away the speaker was really great, very loud, had a long battery life, resisted any water it came into contact with well and did not take long to charge. However as soon as i got home, in mid september it stopped working. I googled the problem and many others seem to have the same issue. No matter how long i charged it for it would say ‘low charge’ or make a sad beeping sound. Eventually i got it to work once or twice at random after charging it for hours, keeping it plugged in charging and pressing buttons at the same time while trying again and again to connect it with my phone. It won’t work at all if it isn’t charging which defeats the purpose of a long battery life as i can’t bring it places. Now that it’s coming up to summer once more i would really like to use it again, and i am quite disappointed after spending a fair amount of money on this item that it didn’t really last long enough at all and isn’t working now. I enjoyed it while it lasted but it really did not work for a long enough time at all so for that reason i am disappointed in the product and will be looking to other brands in the future when purchasing portable speakers.
My expectations for the ue megaboom 1 was set high having listened to the ue boom 1 in various settings, from small rooms to outdoor parks. Sadly, the megaboom did not meet my expectations for its price. The flat sound stood out the most with a very weak bass. Powerful mid range exceeded the low and high ranges, affecting the overall sound quality. Taking into account the different genre’s of music, equaliser settings (for the speaker) and spotify’s equaliser and sound quality- the speaker was not able to create the dynamic atmosphere that i was looking for. I will be returning the product in search for a speaker more set to my specifications. Other than the sound quality, i was not able to fully test the battery life, however, the high quality materials used on the product ensures significant durability and a sturdy build.
I bought this to use with a macbook before the apple homepod was available. It’s a very powerful speaker giving clear sound for movies and music. Links easily to apple products. Battery life is excellent and the time to full recharge is quite quick. You can also link more than one speaker together. If you don’t need a smart speaker like the homepod or alex, the ue megaboom is a relatively inexpensive alternative. I had one snag when the speaker simply would not connect – took me a while to figure out that it needed an update – this has to be done via the mobile app.
I bought this so that i could pair it (party up) with my smaller boom3 but when i paired my phone i noticed that the megoboom was much quieter than the smaller boom2 (even on full volume) i will admit the bass is more noticeable on the mega boom. But it’s far from impressive. I’m very happy with the build quality. When used over nye the speaker did last all night. (which it should considering it boasts something like a 20 hour battery life) but the next morning i checked the battery life and it reported 1% whilst the boom3 was on 60%this leaves me slightly disappointed with my purchase but it was at a good price and works.
This year i have bought 2 things that i consider value for money, the 1st being spotify and this is the second , it’s packaged beautify and comes with a luminous yellow charge cable. At first i thought it was broken until i downloaded the app to go with it then i was amazed by how loud and bassey it was. The sound fills my house i’m astounded at how well it performs and how crisp the sound is and the build quality is brilliant it’s heavy and nothing feels flimsy about it the buttons are easy to use i will admit it took me a minute to find the volume buttons but once linked to my phone it was a doddle to use. I cannot recommend this speaker enough the battery lasted from full charge for just over 16hours which is plenty , as for being waterproof i don’t intend on getting it wet but i will take the manufacturers word for it as everything they claim it does it has excelled at. If you’re looking for a decent wireless speaker buy one you won’t be disappointed.
As far as bluetooth speakers go this isn’t bad. It’s very versatile and rigid. The sound is pretty decent and gets loud. It’s no hifi equivalent but it’s not meant to be. Bluetooth coverage is really good as well. I would recommend this product for every day listening.
