Toshiba Mini 3D Sound Bar II : Brilliant small soundbar

It’s a very nicely-identified fact that fashionable tvs you should not have room for a decent pair of speakers. For individuals who don’t have the money or place to splash out on an amp and speakers, for comprehensive encompass sound, a sound bar is a very good different. But even they can be rather huge, for my 32′ tv set set a comprehensive-sizing sound bar would be longer than the tv set and overhang the cabinet. So when i noticed this mini sound bar, i had to give it a go. The unit requirements just one electric power socket, it comes total with a subwoofer to enhance the bass seems, which has a set cable to the sound bar by itself. It comes with an audio cable, if your tv set has remaining and correct audio out sockets (crimson and yellow) then you are superior to go. Optionally you can acquire a optical audio cable (if your tv supports it), but i haven’t experimented with this as the included cable is very good more than enough for me. There is no hdmi on this design. I positioned the bar specifically less than my television set which is encouraged.

Pretty stunned at the sound for these kinds of a compact item.

Awesome, unbelievable and glad. Ingenious, surprising and most of all, satisfying to hear these unbelievable loud and clear sound coming from this mini soundbar and the subwoofer. The 3d sound has to be read to be believed, it’s seriously fairly good, nevertheless might not be as great as a larger soundbar, but most of the rivals will expense twice or twice the dimension to be in a position to rival this mini soundbar. Leave the 3d on all time, can tell the variance most of the time whether it can be off or on. Also, it performs if the television is on the wall but ya can go away it on the floor in the center and nevertheless accomplishing effectively. 3d encompass is fairly very good and if you are in a small home, it will be in a position to produce a lot superior immersion that usual tv set speakers, exact same goes to tunes when in comparison to typical notebook speakers. There are three options: games, movie and tunes, just turn on whichever one particular that satisfies you. Over-all, pretty impressed with this, but it are unable to be cranked far too loud or it will distort.

“I found the sound quality quite good & much, Thumbs up for Tosh, Disappointing. Only really works with my iPhone/Bluetooth, otherwise pretty much a waste of space., Amazing, Unbelievable and Satisfied, Brilliant small soundbar, Totally Addicted to Bass”

Changed a bigger device with inferior sound.

Compact, excellent for output from consoles and moveable units to deliver a superior sound output. We bought this soundbar from toshiba principally for our sons area so he could practical experience encompass sound from his game titles console (which is at present working with the relatively poor speakers of his television set). The truth that he can also pair his ipod means we can get rid of his old ipod dock which just isn’t doing work very as properly with his new ipod contact 5 due to needing and adapter to plug in. The plan below was to get better sound for the two and not require nonetheless one more plug socket. The products arrived heavily boxed with a substantial exterior bundle then major box comprehensive of polystyrene within. It needed to be rather big due to the sizing of the contents (which include a sub woofer). The deal has the sound bar, sub woofer, remote with batteries, a 3. 5mm stereo cable and european and british plugs for equally the sub and soundbar. The soundbar alone can be connected to two hdmi inputs with one particular output, making it possible for it to swap them to an output exhibit whilst processing the sound. It can also be connected to a stereo output and optical.

I found the sound high quality very great & a lot. If you want hello-fi or cinematic high-quality sound you will not get it from the toshiba mini 3d sound bar ii. Not currently being a hello-fi ‘expert’, i uncovered the sound high-quality pretty fantastic & considerably, much better than that from the tv speakers. The bass sound from the wireless sub & the ‘sonic emotion absolute 3d audio processing’, in my impression, is effective pretty very well to give a fair, punchy & included soundstage any wherever in the area. The sub has 3 bass ranges & can, if required, be turned off fully. The 3d processing can also be turned off but this narrows the soundstage & sounded a little bit flat to my ears. The small size of the system is impressive & satisfies me as i do not want massive speakers & wires everywhere (naturally sound quality compromises are made). The sound bar sits properly beneath the tv & normally takes up pretty small place in addition the smaller (ish) neat sub, with its wireless connectivity, can be put almost anywhere in the place. I experienced to experiment with placement right before i made a decision exactly where it worked best. Setup is simple with the sub ‘pairing’ to the sound bar mechanically.

  1. Pretty good for the price when it’s working and infinitely better than the terrible sound from the tv alone. And the respective parts are small enough to sit neatly on a shelf and do not have to be nailed to a wall – so, good design. Movie mode seems to work best for both tv and film, games mode for radio. Sometimes though when you turn everything on there is no sound at all, and after a bit of stomping about in fury and switching things on and off – the tv, the tosh, the bt youview – the sound comes on at deafening volume. I know this sounds pathetic and rubbish, but unless techno man (hubby) is around to soothe, twiddle knobs and pore over the combined manuals of all these meeja gadgets i’m now almost too afraid to turn the telly on and resort to a book instead. I’m no technophobe but it drives me crazy having to grapple with three separate dibbers, four with the dvd control, a box of tricks under the telly and another with flashing blue lights on the windowsill, plus remembering which hdmi thingy you need. However, techno man gives the tosh a very positive thumbs up. So that’s ok then – just as long as he’s in the house.
    • Amazing, unbelievable and satisfied. Ingenious, surprising and most of all, satisfying to hear such unbelievable loud and clear sound coming from this mini soundbar and the subwoofer. The 3d sound has to be heard to be believed, it’s really quite decent, though may not be as good as a bigger soundbar, but most of the rivals will cost twice or twice the size to be able to rival this mini soundbar. Leave the 3d on all time, can tell the difference most of the time whether it’s off or on. Also, it works if the tv is on the wall but ya can leave it on the floor in the middle and still doing well. 3d surround is pretty good and if you are in a small room, it will be able to produce much better immersion that normal tv speakers, same goes to music when compared to normal laptop speakers. There are 3 settings: games, movie and music, just turn on whichever one that suits you. Overall, very impressed with this, but it can’t be cranked too loud or it will distort.

It’s a pretty well-known fact that modern tvs don’t have room for a decent pair of speakers. For those who don’t have the cash or space to splash out on an amp and speakers, for full surround sound, a sound bar is a good alternative. But even they can be quite big, for my 32″ tv set a full-size sound bar would be longer than the tv and overhang the cabinet. So when i saw this mini sound bar, i had to give it a go. The unit needs one power socket, it comes complete with a subwoofer to enhance the bass sounds, which has a fixed cable to the sound bar itself. It comes with an audio cable, if your tv has left and right audio out sockets (red and yellow) then you are good to go. Optionally you can buy a optical audio cable (if your tv supports it), but i haven’t tried this as the included cable is good enough for me. There is no hdmi on this model. I positioned the bar directly under my tv which is recommended.

Only really works with my iphone/bluetooth, otherwise pretty much a waste of space. . It works well with my iphone and when i play tunes from my itunes library via the device using bluetooth/wireless link, i get a lovely deep, room-filling sound (especially when i press the “3d” button on the remote) apart from that, however, a bit of a dead loss really. I have tried to connect to my tv using hmdi (bought a brand new cable especially) and nothing at all happened. I then tried using a direct audio cable but all i get is a lot of static/hiss and poor quality reproduction of what is playing on the tv while i get nothing at all through the sound bar when i try to play my itunes library via the apple tv link to my tv. I phoned the toshiba “help” line and they could not help me either. They could not find my brand of tv (purchased 2 years or so ago via amazon, but already delisted). I suspect that might be the problem (not high enough spec?) and shall keep the sound bar in anticipation of upgrading at some stage (although, to be honest, i would really like an “all-in” tv which will allow me to dispense with the growing accumulation of stuff around the tv (sound bar, woofer, apple tv, apple iphone adapter (£40. 00 – useless, as my broadband is so unreliable and cuts out when i am in the middle of watching a non-uk programme via my iphone) (have gone over to using youtube instead).

Brilliant small soundbar, i live on a boat and it fits and does the job exactly as i want it to d,ideal for dvd’s and radio music channels.
    • As my title says this does exactly what i want. Mine is used in our bedroom (12″x12″) connected to 22″ flat screen t. Connected via an optical cable. The sound is really excellent especially compared to the t. I think the 3d mode works well but that could be down to the size of the room. There is no lag or interference. Would i use this in the living room connected to a large screen t. I think the whole idea of a mini sound bar is for use in a limited space for which this does the job admirably.

Very satisfied with the sound of this product considering the cost. The bluetooth link between the sound bar and the sub woofer works perfectly and it is very easy to establish a bluetooth link with an ipod etc. I used the optical connection between my tv and the sound bar and the improvement in sound is very significant. The overall sound is not as good as the sound from my main tv system but that one cost more than 10 times the amount that this one did. I am not over keen on the shape of the sound bar, i much prefer square corners, a squarer look would have resulted in a 5 star rating. Finally, amazon deserves praise for allowing the return on a previous speaker system from another manufacturer which sounded awful, and for the prompt delivery of this product.

I found the sound quality quite good & much. If you want hi-fi or cinematic quality sound you will not get it from the toshiba mini 3d sound bar ii. Not being a hi-fi ‘expert’, i found the sound quality quite good & much, much better than that from the tv speakers. The bass sound from the wireless sub & the ‘sonic emotion absolute 3d audio processing’, in my opinion, works very well to give a reasonable, punchy & involved soundstage any where in the room. The sub has three bass levels & can, if wanted, be turned off completely. The 3d processing can also be turned off but this narrows the soundstage & sounded a bit flat to my ears. The small size of the system is impressive & suits me as i don’t want large speakers & wires everywhere (obviously sound quality compromises are made). The sound bar sits nicely under the tv & takes up very little room plus the small (ish) neat sub, with its wireless connectivity, can be placed almost anywhere in the room. I had to experiment with placement before i decided where it worked best. Setup is simple with the sub ‘pairing’ to the sound bar automatically.
    • I already had the toshiba mini 3d sound bar i before i got this, which on the whole i was satisfied with. For such a small form factor, i thought the general compromise on sound/output was a fair compromise. On some very bass-y tones there was distortion, but overall it was fine. However, having now upgraded to the model ii now, i can immediately see and hear the improvements. The size of the bar is still as streamlined as ever, so it takes up no extra surface space under my tv. The hdmi sockets are an added bonus, even though i am only currently using the regular line-in input from my tv. Bluetooth syncing with my phone is a coddle now that the bar is nfc compatible – one tap and i’m streaming my tunes, a brilliant feature. The subwoofer comes with a very short power cable, which puzzled me for a second, until i realised it too is now wireless, so it can be located further away from the tv so as to maximise the surround sound style effect of the bass. Also, the tiny remote control from the model i has been improved with a decent sized unit that actually fits in your hand and is comfy to use.
      • Small, ideal for output from consoles and portable devices to provide a good sound output. We got this soundbar from toshiba primarily for our sons room so he could experience surround sound from his games console (which is currently using the fairly poor speakers of his tv). The fact that he can also pair his ipod means we can get rid of his old ipod dock which isn’t working quite as well with his new ipod touch 5 due to needing and adapter to plug in. The plan here was to get better sound for both and not need yet another plug socket. The product came heavily boxed with a large external package then big box full of polystyrene inside. It needed to be fairly large due to the size of the contents (including a sub woofer). The package contains the sound bar, sub woofer, remote with batteries, a 3. 5mm stereo cable and european and british plugs for both the sub and soundbar. The soundbar itself can be connected to two hdmi inputs with one output, allowing it to switch them to an output display whilst processing the sound. It can also be connected to a stereo output and optical.
