Tannoy Mercury V1 Speakers : They give a poised, balanced sound and they don’t care where you put ’em.

A good quality bookshelf speaker. I am employing them as a 2nd rear speaker and they compliment my process correctly fitting in with my décor in the sugar maple finish.

These speakers have terrific sound high quality. They are well worth the dollars and i would definitely advocate them. I am striving to evaluation this product in a concise way, but the opinions form involves a least amount of money of words and phrases so i am filling it up with this sentence – ridiculous amazon, but no reflection on the speakers.

I have been utilizing tannoys for yrs. My initial established was of 6 mx1’s way again in the early naughties teamed with a denon 1803, which by the way is also still kicking out some sounds. All those aged boys are even now likely powerful in numerous spouse and children associates households i’d gave them absent to. They ended up often a excellent established of large high-quality speakers which provided a fantastic frequency reaction from pleasant punchy bass to the tinniest seems, and at a fair value. The simple fact they are still in use a ten years afterwards is a testament to that excellent. You could pay a fortune for polks or genelecs but you will not get as well considerably more for your substantially much larger investment decision getting experienced the reward of hearing the two in excess of the years. The v1’s reside up to this legacy. The leading conclude is as fantastic as constantly and the lower end is greater than ever. The finish is also improved than ever, the sugar maple blends in flawlessly with my antique pine home furnishings.

I can thoroughly propose these speakers on cost, overall performance and appears to be. The construction is good and the seem is whole, abundant and very well well balanced.

Never assumed it was feasible for this rate to buy some speakers so goodcreate an remarkable phase and has a outstanding midrange, a incredibly lively and pleasurable sound that never tire.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Absolutely stunning!!!
  • Buy these while you still can.
  • They give a poised, balanced sound and they don’t care where you put ’em.
  • Tannoy Mercury VI Speakers
  • Decent speakers at this prices
  • A nice pair of speakers.

I initially heard tannoy mercury speakers way again in the eighties and was surprised by the wonderful overall performance and sound high quality, so when i made a decision to get rid of my flooring standing speakers (to make additional space) i assumed i would get these shelf mount speakers. . (as they are described)they are not seriously shelf mount speakers as they have to be put fairly a distance from partitions at the back again and aspect to get their greatest functionality. So unless of course i get speaker stands, which defeats the item of my receiving rid of the floor standing speakers, i are not able to hope to get the high-quality of seem that these are capable of. As these types of they are lifeless in the position that i have to use them. So for those people who need a speaker to perform on a shelf. . Glimpse somewhere else for your speakers.

Exceptional speakers at an great value. Neat hunting and quite compact, nevertheless they fill the eating place with a excellent sound. They are getting utilized as a 2nd established of speakers managing from the hi-fi in the lounge. They did not arrive on ‘guaranteed’ day whilst this was not down to the seller but the actions of the courier support which, devoid of rationalization, held the speakers on the van and so returned the package deal to the depot instead of providing them. Amazon client expert services came to the rescue and speakers delivered up coming day – really unexpectedly as it was a sunday. Would not be reluctant to propose the tannoy mercury vi speakers.

I bought these to go with my old nad 3020e amp and technics pg4 cd player they sound very good indeed with all types of music i have them on atacama nexus stands 60 cm height in a room 13 feet by 10 feet 6 feet apart and one foot from back and side walls . I use cambridge audio interconnects and very happy indeed with the sound use with grills off say tannoy for better sound.
    • Decent speakers at this prices. These are decent speakers at this price. But not quite as good as the reviews might have you believe. They are a bit overbright and need to be carefully positioned to get the best of the base. The midrange lacks definition compared to my wharfedale 304 speakers (very old) and frequency separation is not the besthowever they pack a punch, are highly compatible, look great and are not too big. At the current prices you cant go far wrong.

I bought these to go along with my cambridge audio topaz am10 amplifier. These are the first set of speakers, for the first ever hi-fi separates system i’ve bought – and i’m glad i got these. I have them hooked up with some qed silver anniversary xt cable and the sound quality (to my ears) is just as good as i get from my bowers & wilkins headphones.
    • Never thought it was possible for this price to buy some speakers so goodcreate an incredible stage and has a superb midrange, a very lively and pleasant sound that never tire.

I have read rave reviews of these speakers but i found them quite disappointing – shrill in the treble and lacking in the mids, like something was missing. Maybe it’s due to the fact that i received a used set from nin tro nics even though they were supposed to be new. When i bought them they were £99 – seems to have gone up in price too, but not worth the money.

I can thoroughly recommend these speakers on price, performance and looks. The construction is solid and the sound is full, rich and well balanced.

I have not been able to test these to the fullest, probably because i do not have the right amp, but the sound they bring is fantastic. It’s crisp and clear when it needs to be, it’s got the bass that you would want and they look classy as well.

These speakers work well at all levels are well made and are a great compliment to my onkyo dab stereo although i do have a sub woofer am quite confident from what i have heard that these speakers would be good as a stand alone pair without the sub also the delivery of this beauties was prompt.
    • Buy these while you still can. . I have been looking for a pair of affordable speakers for a secondary hifi system that lives in the dining room but was struggling to find anything that would give a real boost in performance without breaking the bank. These were 5* reviewed on what hi-fi at £160 and i had given them serious consideration at the time. Now selling for less than £100 and that is a bit of a bargain. I have long read reviews which bang on about ‘wide soundstage’ and ‘separation’. Having read what the lab coats have had to say i have purchased various speakers for various systems over the years and, having stumped up the cash, persuaded myself that i can hear these things. Anyway, having seen these come down in price i took the plunge, disconnected the old celestion 1s and stuck on a cd (remember those?). I actually did a double take and turned around to look behind me. Suddenly this system produces a sound i did not think it capable of – music that fills the room with instruments and voices coming at me from all directions. I have these on stands and even the bass response is really impressive.

First pair i received had one very u. Speaker: vibrated badly so dome of tweeter or something damaged. Exchanged e-mail with company purchased from; they asked me do re-wiring tests; complied; speaker still vibrating; two days later they sent a new pair and collected the damaged pair on same day. The speakers are for my tv/audio processor front speakers; the mercury’s are pretty brilliant in that role.
    • I have owened a variety of speakers over the years. Including the predecessor to these. The original revolution customs were good and i still have them connected to a vintage chatsworth marantz system. These are wired to a mid range denon separates system and are superb finish and looks have been improved, and these have long been rated as the best speakers upto £250 and at around £100 are a stealdelivery was fast and i could not be happier.
      • They give a poised, balanced sound and they don’t care where you put ’em. . I’m delighted with the relaxed sound and since i haven’t the time to put together the speaker stands i ordered separately, the v1s are presently resting on chairs. “easy positioning” is my summary of their performance. They have front ports, the sound is enjoyable no matter i wander around the room in front of the speakers, and they respond superbly to adjustment of tone controls and r/l balance on the amplifier. Their great strength is they’re not finicky about positioning and you can forget about all the diagrams in hi-fi mags that lay out a “listening triangle” in an uncluttered room and then experiment moving the speakers six inches to the left, then six inches backwards, and on and on, searching for audiophiles call the speakers’ “sweet spot”. With these, you’re home free — there are no requirements for any sweet spot with the v1s. It’s easy to break them in by running them around the clock via subdued radio for a few days, and from then on, it’s satisfaction express. The v1s have rescued my terrible, irregular, cluttered up listening room and they deliver fine sound to my chair outside the listening triangle and two feet to the right of the right speaker. Yes, i’m outside the right speaker and 14 feet from the left speaker across the room. This is testimony to the outstanding capabilities of the v1s.

Nice speakers, excellent value. I bought these speakers to replace more expensive ones in the lounge (one of these couldn’t be repaired). Of course, i wasn’t expecting a superlative hifi sound, but these speakers are good to listen to, with a punchy bass sound. And they’re very nicely made. The sugar maple finish is lovely.
    • Nice if you know what you want to achieve with them. These are class bookshelf speakers, but be aware that they are going to lack bass. Without boring some of you, bass perception depends on many things, one being room size. I thought the room was too small (my sisters average 70’s semi-detached council house) to resonate the bass, but a single sonos s5 player delivers in my smaller study and kitchen, so it is definitely the tannoys that are not built for any bass response at all, and that’s ok since many people don’t buy them expecting that. I did however expect them to be a little boomier than they were, having ‘downgraded’ from some classic b&w 501’s bookshelf’s, but you get what you pay for. I got these to augment ambient music listening and hdtv sound. So how do they rate on both levels?. For the background music i like in the house all day they are great and would commend them for an home office, small office, cafe, or small reception area. But for delivering tv ‘soundtrack’ sound without sub-woofer support, they just scrape by, i’m now looking for a compact and inexpensive subwoofer to fill the bass gap.
