Tannoy F1 Custom : Excellent ‘Budget HiFi’ Speakers

Most effective speakers i’ve at any time owned. I will not normally bother offering testimonials (although i make use of them all the time when shopping for which i suppose is rationale for producing the energy a lot more normally). Nevertheless, i just had to say what fantastic speakers these are. I acquired a denon dab micro system and resolved to use my aged speakers with it instead of getting new kinds. I then read all the other opinions saying how fantastic these tannoy speakers are with this technique and assumed i’d try them. Even though they’re not outrageously costly like other audiophile speakers they set out brilliant seem. I very first tried them out on the basic ‘time’ from pink floyd’s dark facet of the moon album and was blown absent.I assumed i would it’s possible require to purchase a sub-woofer much too (the spouse would go spare) but you definitely don’t need one. Properly worth the income – oh, and peter tyson shipped to the highlands inside of seventy two hrs – excellent services men.

Introduced these speakers and paired them up with our existing onkyo set up. These tannoy’s deliver a clean, well balanced seem and has a substantial soundstage which is great for filling big rooms. They wont give you a explosive amount of money of bass for videos (should not subject if you have a sub for that) but for audio. In contrast to most household cinema setups, with small speakers – there is no comparision. They finish up sounding a little bit tinny as they do not have the selection that a lot larger sized drivers like these have, devoid of the sub dealing with the midrange/lower close. Very best price bookshelf speakers you can get now. Well worth the expenditure for hi-fi or property-cinema seperate setup :).

Tannoy even now in a class of their have. I ought to admit to some bias – i’ve owned tannoys for just about 40 several years. I bought these simply because room was was at a high quality. I was not expecting just about anything excellent owing to their dimension but did be expecting them to be really alright specifically in comparison to their rivals. I was wrong, the seem is definitely great. They are functioning off a brennan jb7 320g metallic s1 digital box and the reaction, tone and clarity are exceptional.

“Excellent ‘Budget HiFi’ Speakers, Best speakers I’ve ever owned!!!, Tannoy still in a class of their own, a happy french customer, Regrets, I have a few, bet then again.”

These are awesome worth for money at only £75. I’ve just bought a pair of these to replace the entrance satellite’s of my logitech z5500 and what a beautiful distinction they have built. Making use of vista’s speaker settings i transformed the entrance pair to total range and in x-fi’s management panel i reduced the crossover frequency of the sub down to 60hz.

Acquired these initally as rear surround speakers but they sounded so good as main speakers that is where i remaining them. For the dimension they produce a genuinely wide and in depth soundstage, bass is very good for these types of a tiny enclosure and treble is sweet and brilliant. These are the upgraded established with larger spec wiring etc. For this rate they are these types of a bargain.

Excellent ‘budget hifi’ speakers. Amazon did these for £75 past week so i grabbed them. These are outstanding (and extremely awarded) speakers that will make improvements to the seem of any procedure, just do not mount them in corners or too near to a wall as they want some space to deliver the most effective seem.

Awesome speakers for the price. My acoustic research speakers finally gave up the ghost after 20 odd years of sterling service and i was in the market for some new ones for my living room. Having been made redundant and being short of money i knew i had to look at the bottom end of the hi-fi market. I did my research and wanted bang for buck and plumped for these little beauties. I was surprised at how small they were upon arrival and was a bit downhearted and expected a rather weedy/thin sound. I was very pleasantly surprised by what they achieved on firing up though. I enjoy my music and can honestly say that they achieve a well rounded mid and crisp top end with a decent amount of bass that isn’t (to my ears anyway) messy in any way. They can take a fair whack of volume and i never felt they were being forced. I listen to a wide variety of music from techno to rock to folk and jazz and these speakers do them all proud. For bottom wobbling, floor shaking, gut churning deep bass you will need to get a subwoofer or buy more expensive larger speakers with a bigger bass cone, but for the vast majority of the time these are the donkey’s doo dahs.

Tannoy still in a class of their own. I must admit to some bias – i’ve owned tannoys for nearly 40 years. I bought these because space was was at a premium. I wasn’t expecting anything outstanding due to their size but did expect them to be pretty ok; particularly compared to their competitors. I was wrong, the sound is really excellent. They are working off a brennan jb7 320g metallic s1 digital box and the response, tone and clarity are superb.

Bought them for denon dm38dab. Speakers give great sound, best i heard from such small speakers. Though they look ugly if you take off the front covers, so don’t take the covers off when guests are coming :).
    • Regrets, i have a few, bet then again. . Nah no regrets in buying these bookshelf speakers, rather regrets in giving away some 35 year old mordaunt short carnivals which i didn’t realise were excellent speakers. To cut a long story short i had mislaid 300 vinyl lps (see other review on pro-ject essential turntable for the tale)and was replacing all that lost vinyl with cds and compact disc players (bose and phillips systems. After re-locating the vinyl i needed to replace those speakers et al and saw a hifi review on these. I was looking at the new mission x1 speakers at £150 but these speakers were less expensive and had been a consistent 5* review candidate on all the reviews i read. I am very pleased i bought them. I was surprised at how small they are but they pack a punch. I would advise that you must get your amplifier to drive these speakers as at low volume the speakers under-perform. You need a nice, moderately loud from the speakers to appreciate them. You get the full range of sounds when you do this.
      • Well i’ve got these speakers since 2009 and they have been great. Bought them from superfi and i never regretted it. They make a good front/stereo speakers with good bass even though they are not full range speakers. Add a sub and you will feel and see the difference.

I bought these speakers as the price was good, to be honest, did not expect a great deal from them, but gave them a try instead of the kef codas. Wow, what a surprise, sound is amazing and have had them connected to the amp ever since.

If you only have a small amount of space and want quality, i highly recamend these, they might look small but back some punch. The sound is crisp and mid range is fully there and the bass is really suprising for such small speakers. Definatly for the music lover. Brought mine from richersounds as i wanted to hear before buying and we compared these against the much larger eltax floor standing speakers but in my opinion they sounded squashed and was to much woofer and no quality. If you have a powered sub i do recamend it but to be honest you proberly wont need it as these drive a lot of bass on there own.

Thanks to english reviewers who convinced me to buy these speakers over the channel. Now just need to find a good amplifier.

Best speakers i’ve ever owned. I don’t usually bother giving reviews (although i make use of them all the time when buying which i suppose is reason for making the effort more often). However, i just had to say what great speakers these are. I bought a denon dab micro system and decided to use my old speakers with it instead of buying new ones. I then read all the other reviews saying how great these tannoy speakers are with this system and thought i’d try them. Although they’re not outrageously expensive like other audiophile speakers they put out brilliant sound. I first tried them out on the classic ‘time’ from pink floyd’s dark side of the moon album and was blown away.I thought i’d maybe need to buy a sub-woofer too (the wife would go spare) but you really don’t need one. Well worth the money – oh, and peter tyson delivered to the highlands within 72 hours – excellent service guys.
    • Bought as part of 5. 1 surround set. Bought these after some careful consideration with the tannoy ts8 sub woofer. I was a bit unsure at first but now i know i have made a good buy. The sub woofer ts8 is a 200w beast but my recommendation would be to use it with a gain slightly above min, but not too high and let the av amp do the job of boosting the pre-amped signal. So far with music it does wonders. I prefer the sound of bass in the air rather than shaking on the floor, that way the bass is there but your attention doesn’t go to where it is. Either next to the tv where the action is or placed discreetly away from view would be ideal. The bookshelf themselves i would say are really good, shame it’s laminated veneer but that’s what goes these days unless you really want to spend a lot of money. I have seen some tannoy studio monitor speakers and they looked very similar if not exactly the same as these. Strong build and sounds very good.

I just know these will be great. . I know there must be others like me wondering when is the next boat load going to arrive down the amazon. But being a loyal customer i will just hang on. . The denon receiver i purchased 4 weeks ago to go with this, is sitting in a box (much to my darling wife’s annoyance), no point unpacking that parcel either until the boat comes in.

I bought these from amazon for £73 with soundstyle z2 stands. I bought them to replace some denon speakers that came as standard on a denon dm30 micro system. I am really pleased with the difference in sound after some running in time. The only problem now is, i,ve got the bug and want to change my denon for maybe nad c315,c515 amp/cd combo. Anybody got this system, how good is it?.
    • Brought these speakers and paired them up with our current onkyo setup. These tannoy’s produce a smooth, balanced sound and has a huge soundstage which is great for filling large rooms. They wont give you a explosive amount of bass for movies (shouldn’t matter if you have a sub for that) but for music. Compared to most home cinema setups, with small speakers – there is no comparision. They end up sounding a bit tinny as they do not have the range that much larger drivers like these have, without the sub handling the midrange/low end. Best value bookshelf speakers you can get now. Worth the investment for hi-fi or home-cinema seperate setup :).

These are amazing value for money at only £75. I’ve just bought a pair of these to replace the front satellite’s of my logitech z5500 and what a stunning difference they have made. Using vista’s speaker settings i changed the front pair to full range and in x-fi’s control panel i lowered the crossover frequency of the sub down to 60hz.

Excellent ‘budget hifi’ speakers. Amazon did these for £75 last week so i grabbed them. These are excellent (and highly awarded) speakers that will improve the sound of any system, just don’t mount them in corners or too close to a wall as they need some space to produce the best sound.
    • Bought these initally as rear surround speakers but they sounded so good as main speakers that is where i left them. For the size they produce a really wide and detailed soundstage, bass is good for such a small enclosure and treble is sweet and bright. These are the upgraded set with higher spec wiring etc. For this price they are such a bargain.

These speakers are brilliant. Excellent sound quality and build quality. Not as pretty as some makes, but the dark oak cabinets are somewhat nicer than the apple finish. The sound quality for the money is excellent and they are easily driven. These speakers have received 5 stars in recent hi-fi reviews (actually, they have won many awards over the last few years). Delivered next day, even though i used the free supersaver delivery, so i’m impressed. These must be the cheapest in the uk at the moment too.
