Yamaha Electronics Yamaha RXV383 5 Channel AV Receiver – Titanium – I just love what I have purchased

This is my second yamaha receiver in use at present. Therefore i cannot really review yamaha products as all the products i have purchased from yamaha are of high quality. To try to review such quality products would be foolish of me. I just love what i have purchased.

Amazing capacity to adjust itself for the room used.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Superb Amp Very Impressed. Superb quality, Video and amazing positional sound with PS4 Games
  • Great value and good sound.
  • Five Stars

Fantastic quality and booms the sound out.

Have one on loan from richer sounds whilst my amp is in for repair. Brand new and setup within 15 minutes and it’s in a confined tricky space too. Disappointed that the test tone was not an audible cue for which is which speaker as my stickies had fallen off my wires leaving me to figure it out. Turns out the calibration announces which speaker is which so you can ensure you got it righta tad disappointed with the calibration with the provided mic, after two attempts it sounded better before i ran the setup. After a bit of fiddling it now sounds good, and dare i say better than my 3 year old amp at twice the price which had many awards under its beltremote feels a little cheap but gets the job done, on a plus point though it doesn’t have a million other buttons you’re not going to use which my amp has. Volume is acceptable and loud enough to upset the neighbours if you’re in a semi, if you’re in a detached house and want to enjoy your movie a little louder then i’d look for a better model. 4k support and also outlines on the front panel what you have plugged in without having to manually add the names in the menu. It’ll say xbox one or sky+ hd etc.

Fantastic amp replaced a top of the line 10 year old yamaha model i had for ten years which unfortunately would not power on anymoresuperb video quality and surround sound. Better than my old amp amazinglyso easy to setup, up and connected in 10 minutes. Connected to hd tv but happy to know future proof for 4k,so damn good at the pricesuperb service and communication from peter tyson and delivery from dpd who are always superb .

For the price this is a great amp, ideal replacement for my last unit which was getting on in years. Quite easy to connect everything and to set up. Some of the menus are not as intuitive as others but the basic set up is fine. Sound quality is good and lots of audio settings to play with or press the “straight” button to cut out any other audio enhancements. I am very pleased with this amp from a good manufacturer. Remote is a good size too so easy to use.

Yamaha Electronics Yamaha NSSW100 Powered Subwoofer – Does what it says on the tin

An excellent addition to my existing hi-fi setup. The extra bass adds an amazing amount of volume (as in 3d presence not loudness) to any music, even classical music and any music that does not use a lot of bass. When the tv/sky box sound is routed through the hi-fi, it helps bring out every detail. The only downside is that it can bring out too much background noise on some programs and movies, particularly in outdoor scenes, so occasionally need to be turned down slightly for those. It is one of yamaha’s cheaper models but i’m not sure you’d get a lot more (in a domestic set up) by getting any of the more expensive versions.

I cannot believe this was £109. The sound quality in terms of control, substance, blend and clarity is astonishing. The low reviews are probably due to using low quality cable, i put a qed reference cable on it,and as i said the sound is amazing. Initially i had a cheaper cable on it and the performance though good, notquite as good. I can imagine too low quality and cheap cables could ruin the sound.

Check the dimensions, this was much bigger than i expected, but as a result it really fills the room, 8x5m alongside some decent mid and upper frequency speakers. Coax/phono input or optical, both work fine. Plugs directly into the mains. Volume control on the rear too. Had fun finding the right place in the room, and as per some other suggestions don’t try obvious spots, sometimes the best sound can come from corners of the room as we found. The sub is black, wooden, with a fabric speaker grille on one side and the air hole on the other (that’s the technical term right?).

Would have liked it to be remote control.

Unpacked, connected, working. Big sound in a small package, i get a nice foot massage on the really crunchy scenes.

Pretty powerful subwoofer and easy to set up. I returned mine though as it has absolutely no configuration options (crossover freq, phase setting etc) and no high level inputs, so given the amp i had chosen, left me with no control over the output of the sub. It ended up sounding very muddy and muffled producing frequencies far higher than it should have done (around 200 – 500 hz and up). Instead i’m swapping it for a sub with more controls.

  • A few oddities, but little to complain about at this price
  • Powerful but very limited control.
  • Deeper than deep !

Love this, not sure about the neighbours mind you, that said, i don’t take the mickey or use it late at night or early in the morning. It really makes such a difference, i have it paired to my yamaha srt10000 and the combo is amazing.

Great – but make sure you have the amp to drive it.

Superb tight deep bass from a small box. Excellent build quility too.

Really really nice subwoofer with a lot of power. It works really nice with my yamaha yas 107 soundbar.

YAMAHA HIFI

Yamaha Sound Quality

Yamaha takes its expertise in producing world leading musical instruments and combines it with precision engineering to create superb sound with a true, clear quality.

The History of HiFi Audio Began with Yamaha

It has been 60 years since the Yamaha HiFi Player, the world’s first audio component bearing the “HiFi” name, was released. As a comprehensive musical instrument maker, as a materials and semiconductor manufacturer, and as experts in architectural acoustics and music promotion, Yamaha has always applied its accumulated technology base and experience to the task of producing ever improving audio equipment, forming the sound of each era of Yamaha’s history of innovation from the birth of the Yamaha HiFi player in 1954 to the present.

New Twisted Flare Port Produces Clear and Tight Bass

The all-new Twisted Flare Port takes advantage of extensive subwoofer development experience. The flared, gently twisting shape diffuses the vortex of air generated around the edge of the port, creating a smooth flow of air. This reduces extraneous noise not present in the original input signal and provides clear, accurate low frequency reproduction. From special effect sounds in movies to the atmosphere of a live venue, you hear bass that is clear, tight and realistic.

Advanced YST II for Awesome Deep Bass

Developed by Yamaha, the Advanced YST II (Yamaha Active Servo Technology II) combines negative-impedance and constant-current principles to drive the speaker cone with even tighter control than the previous version. Using Advanced Negative Impedance Converter (ANIC) circuits, this system dynamically optimizes effective speaker impedance to maintain excellent linearity. This means more stable and accurate low range response, not to mention higher sound quality.

25 cm (10”) woofer unit

Sensational bass response that adds significantly to overall listening enjoyment of music and movies.

Stylish Addition to Any Room

The gently rounded form with a slanted front surface presents a stylishly elegant appearance. Designed to be unobtrusive, It’s sure to look beautiful in a living room or home theatre room. Offered in black, walnut and white, so you can choose the model that best matches your other speakers.

An excellent subwoofer at a reasonable price.

My (very) old wharfdale finally kicked the bucket, and i really missed the deep bass when watching a movie or listening to music. But i didn’t want to spend a crazy amount of money, so at around 100 pounds, this seemed like a worthwhile punt. The sound quality is really crisp and carries superbly. You don’t even need to turn it up very loud to get the benefits (much to neighbours delight). It has it’s own volume control, so you can easily adjust to your needs.

Good for the price, but is only suitable for medium to small living-rooms. It is designed for quality of listening experience rather than power output.

After using a week i said it’s exellent.

This has transform my yamaha av system, giving rich bass tones. It is very heavy for its size and not too big. I am very pleased i went for the yamaha as it looks great and sounds fantastic.

Bigger than what i expected – should have checked the dimensions. However i suppose the compromise is the absolutely amazing sound. Have a yamaha soundbar with built in subwoofer but this has now changed the sound completely.

Affordable yet quality active subwoofer for hifi or home cinema application

I’ve learnt a lot about yamaha since i work in music retail and sell their products. Quality and technology is where they excel and even though this is a rather small subwoofer it sure delivers even i our 25×16 extension. Packaging is plain boxed as is common with a lot of their equipment and the item is well presented and built well. A phono cable is required to connect the item to your receiver which i didn’t know (thought it might be terminals). I used wharfedale diamond 9’s and diamond pro’s at the moment with an onkyo network receiver and the quality is great even without the subwoofer. When added though the sound really does change incredibly, with depth not otherwise possible. Great for movies as well, it shakes the floor.

I bought this to use with a mini hi-fi system that has small-ish desktop speakers. I don’t have room for full-size speakers where this system is installed, and the desktop speakers lack bass. The subwoofer corrects that problem, so i get decent bass without speakers taking up a lot of space. The sub itself lives under a desk, because placement isn’t particularly critical. I haven’t done laboratory tests, but the subwoofer sounds pretty good along with the rest of the system. I mostly use it for music, and with its volume setting so that it is only just audible alongside the main speakers. I suspect that for movies an increase in volume would be beneficial. The bass is smooth and relatively subtle at the volume levels i normally use, but it does not distort even at levels that cause objects in the room to shake. The subwoofer is unattractive in appearance, to my eyes. It’s just a featureless black cube — rather like a piece of industrial equipment.

An inexpensive but quality sub-woofer from yamaha which ticks all the boxes. Only one minor quibble, the power indicator light is on the rear of the unit which seems a bit silly as you can not see it. I have inadvertantly left the unit switched on a few times after turning off the tv and amp. Overall i would recommend this unit to anyone wanting a sub.

This little box delivers stunning sound from my 5:1 system in a 7x4x3 metre room.

Item as described, sound is very good and at a descent price too.

Notice that the power rating is not clearly stated. This is because it is underpowered – both the sw050 and the sw100 reuse the same class d amplifier from the cheaper older generation sw012. For the 8′ sw050 this is ok although for the 10′ sw100 wouldn’t recommend it.

25cm/10 inch driver for rich deep powerful bass

Great product, solidly built and happy with it but it would be nice to have a light on the front like my pioneer one does so you know when it is active and when on standby. In fact i’m not even sure if it ever does go into standby.

Does what it says on the tin. Sound is excellent – bought for the cinema room and this thing rocks.

I have owned this sub for a week, and wow, it had truly transformed my old separates system into something awsome. The speaker was delivered quicker than i expected, well packaged. The instructions were precise and it was very a quick and painless task to connect and setup the speaker. After a week i believe i have now the best set up and may it be music or movies everything has been brought to life in a understated but dramatic statement of intensity. Would recommend to anyone with to enhance their systems.

Great subwoofer giving superb bass to my tangent speakers. Very happy by the fact it’s simple to control and only has one button to switch it on and one to control the volume bass. Less time fiddling and more time spent listening to the sound it produces.

It’s a wonderful device, but the absence of an auto power switch might put off some. When switched on without an input signal my meter registers 6. 5w, so 24/7 over a year that’s about £7 of electricity.

Fantastic sub, does exactly what i hoped it would do, really adds to overall experience watching movies, love it.

This is a wonderful speaker, first it is not too big to look out of place in a typical english living room (size) but big enough to reproduce those low frequency bass sounds. It is simple to use, yes i’m shouting this out, just turn volume to minimum plug in the input cable and power it up then switch on – gently adjust the volume to your preference. Simple, it only has a volume control, which may upset those techy types who need to adjust the frequency response and phase shifting (?) to optimise their perceived quality of sound. This is not designed for outside concerts but for the majority of people who like to feel the explosions in a good film or indeed wish to listen to those outside concerts in the comfort of their own homes (toilet access etc – you know what i mean). The only complaint i’ve had so far is from my wife who asked for the bass to be turned down, apparently it hurts, which to me is a good thing, no not an excuse to annoy her indoors, as it means i can get the bass response from this that i like.

New Twisted Flare Port contributes to clear and tight bass

Nice product that makes its presence heard. A new sound experience has now arrived to my listening.

Not as good as i thought it would be.

The final component for my home cinema.

I wasn’t sure at first as i’ve owned kef for a long time – blimey, this thing is deep . It’s subtle when it needs to be and super ridiculous when you’re watching a marvel film.

Very easy to set up and well constructed. Sounds pretty good but don’t crank on the volume control too much, or it will start to struggle. I have three of these, and i’m planning on an sw100 very soon. Suffice to say that these things, plus my four monitor audio floorstanders, provide stomach churning bass where the movie requires it.

This sub is very good in looks and performance.

Advanced YST II (Yamaha Active Servo Technology II)

As an addition to my yamaha cd wifi player this subwoofer creates an all round warm sound. The subwoofer has a volume knob on the back panel so you can increase or decrease the bass sound to your own likening. As with all yamaha products it is very well made but beware it is quite heavy and approximately 14 inches in width and height. For extra bass and brilliant sound just great.

Yamaha Electronics Yamaha NS-SW300 subwoofer – 1 – Truely Incredible

Bought an audioengine subwoofer previously and returned it because it wasn’t worth the money. This however is a different story. For a small/medium sized subwoofer this thing is deep. I put it 1/3 volume in my small/medium lounge and because it’s in a corner it sounds as loud in the next room which is the same size. So it easily fills a medium /large room. I use it for music but this thing is home cinema quality. Only con is that it isn’t the best aesthetically imo but when it sounds this good.

Not going to give a full review as there are multiple sources online that explain how great it is. All i’ll say is it’s compact but packs a serious punch for the price. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again but gave 4 stars as the plug i received was a german one. Managed to cram it into the socket anyway so its all good.

Amazing little woofer, makes my movies really come alive. Here are the specifications for the Yamaha Electronics Yamaha NS-SW300 subwoofer – 1:

  • Make sure this fits
    by entering your model number.
  • High-efficiency amplifier and dual feedback circuit.
  • New Yamaha Twisted Flare Port technology for an even clearer bass.
  • Advanced YST II for a deep bass.
  • 25 cm (10 inches) cone woofer.
  • The elegant design harmonises with all types of speakers and interiors.
  • Front control panel.
  • System control and automatic standby.

Using as part of the hifi i put together, all i can say it’s the best bass i’ve had ever heard in a home environment doesn’t matter what kind of music you’re listening to.

Having bought(and returned) several subwoofers over the last year i decided to buy this. It’s big ‘ it’s heavy ‘ it’s powerful. ‘ plenty of thump ‘ automatic turn on off ‘it really packs a punch. the only thing that could improve this is if the power cord wasn’t fixed ‘ or it had hole for the plug to slot in to. ?great subwoofer for a great price. many thanks to peter tyson ltd.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Truely Incredible
  • Amazing Subwoofer
  • Amazing product but was sent wrong plug

I will still give this 5 stars even though it came with a usa plug that that cannot be replaced meaning you need to also buy a plug adaptor to use it in the uk. They’re that good that this can be forgiven. I have these paired with my audio engine a2+ speakers. I have the crossover set at 110 hz and these speakers are incredible. On 50-60% volume on the speaker and 20-30% through the pc they’re loud and accurate without being ‘boomy’ if you put the speaker volume knob to 80-100% and go past 50% pc volume the walls begin to shake and well at 80-100% volume on the pc it punches you in the chest. In movies it sounds as if there really is an explosion when something blows upprobably the best sub woofer i’ve ever heard (outside of a car environment), definitively worth the price.

Great sounding and great looking, got it for a great price and am delighted.

Very deep and accurate bass, also has potential to add other satellite speakers to your surround sound setup. Build quality is exceptional along with the styling. I have mine around 50 hertz and 50% volume and it’s loud enough now.

this is the first subwoofer i have bought, so naturally i have nothing else to compare it with in my home environment. Also, owing to domestic considerations there was only one place in our sitting room where it could be accommodated, although as it happens it’s not a bad place at all. It’s positioned on the right hand wall, not far from the main speakers, which are a pair of monitor audio bronze br5 floorstanders. For their size these speakers go quite low, so i wasn’t sure how much a subwoofer would add. My shortlist of subs comprised the wharfedale sw150, q acoustics 2070i and the yamaha ns sw300. I chose the yamaha partly on reviews (although right now there are few reviews to go by), partly on its specifications and finally on price. I unpacked the yamaha sub, which is remarkably heavy for its size and looks very well made. Then i positioned it facing across the room at an angle as recommended, and connected it to the output of my stereo preamp. Using sine wave tones at frequencies from 20hz to 100hz, i set about adjusting the cut off frequency, level and phase in order to acoustically integrate the sub with the main speakers. After much testing i finally set the cut off frequency to 60hz, the level to halfway and the phase to normal.

I was looking for a subwoofer. The online team responded to my stock query immediately and advised me about a much better match to my amp. Delivery was arranged as per my very detailed request and the peter tyson team gave me a very reasonable quote on an item that was outside my budget.

Yamaha Electronics Yamaha MusicCast MCRN470D Network Hi-Fi System – Great sound quality, great features – love this!

I really rate yamaha speakers and monitors: i use ns-10 and hs-80m for working on audio editing and recording. This compact system is just as impressive to me and is being used as part of a secondary surround sound system in another room at home; it works well with my tv and dvd player setup but also links up to spotify et al for a high quality streaming experience. Very good value for money from a trusted and respected brand. In my experience, their products last for years and years.

It’s perfect for my room, plenty loud enough and the quality is superb, connects to everything easily and the mobile app is easy to use.

Getting to grips with itnot particularly dummy – friendly.

After trying the yamaha mcrn470d hi-fi system for the last week i have been amazed by the quality of sound and ease of use. As the heading suggests, it has the capability of playing music direct from the internet. One will have to download music-cast to your mobile phone to be able to use this superb facility. Once downloaded and setup with the player, your mobile phone becomes the remote. From here you can control volume, internet channel and more. Personally i found net radio easy to use on the yamaha mcrn470d, giving a wide choice of genres from alternative music to today’s top 40, not forgetting the 60’s and 70’s. There is music to suit everyone. You can use others, spotify, napster juke or qobuz, its my personal preference to use net-radio. Of course, you can play music from your cd collection, dab radio or fm or even from your phone.

Fantastic, though wifi a bit of a pfaff. Bluetooth music library via phone is storming.

So easy to set up and the sound is incredible.

  • Brilliant system – wonderful value for money.
  • Small size big sound
  • Quality product worth the money.

Music freedom without having to find that cd.

Firstly i’m no audiophile but the sound that comes out of this beast of a system is clear and well defined. For a small system this can belt out the sound and has loads of input options all controlled by an app on your phone. I must admit i was a little surprised that the speakers are wired up like a traditional system as i half expected the speakers to be wireless but i guess this would mean a much higher price point for true wireless speakers?the range of input options is pretty impressive , dab radio, internet radio, bluetooth, spotify to name but a few which are all programmed from an app on your phone and/or tablet. The app looks quite simple when you first use it but it can get quite complicated. I’m yet to find a search option on dab and when i ‘favourite’ a channel it seems to record the dab info rather than the station name?. I haven’t played with it much yet so i may be missing an option ?it’s a lot of money but sounds fantastic and i’d recommend on that basis alone. Plus it’s expandable if you buy other music cast speakers so you can transmit to other speakers you may buy. Good stuff, shame the app could use a bit more work.

Connects really easily to my android phone and has a great sound, even at parties where we pump the volume right up, it still sounds great.

Great sound and very easy to use.

This is an easy five stars for me; a good size (smaller than i expected), powerful, great sound quality even at very high volumes, lots of options for playing music. The speakers are 23 cm deep × 15 cm wide × 28 cm tall, and connect by traditional wires for the best response. There’s a connector for a subwoofer (not included) on the back of the main unit, as well as stereo inputs, a 3. 5mm input, a wired network port – and the radio and wireless antennae. The music cast app (free from the android store; there’s an apple equivalent too) is needed to set the hi-fi up on a home network, and once paired can also be used as an advanced remote control. The included remote control covers other features, but only allows three presets/favourite stations compared to a total of a hundred in the app. Itunes for windows can broadcast to the speaker using airplay; no set-up required once the speaker was on the network – it just worked. Playing from usb, if you already have a large library of mp3 files, is very straightforward – using the remote control to navigate the folder structure. The cd player and dab radio work flawlessly, as does internet radio once connected to the local wifi network – giving quick access to hundreds of stations around the worldas another reviewer notes, the lack of security on the bluetooth connection is slightly troubling; fortunately i have few neighbours close enough to be a source of potential conflicts. Yamaha’s music cast system gives the option to extend the sound into additional rooms by adding wireless music cast speakers.

Overall it’s a good system, with a lot of functions and capability to source music from just about any source or method you choose. I was a little disappointed with the sound quality which isn’t much better than cheap systems.

Excellent bit of kit for the price.

Incredible hd hi-fi system with all the bells and whistles you could wish for. To get the best from it you need to use the free ‘musiccast’ app (available from apple and android) but once armed with that you have here a system that offers net radio (1000s of hd radio stations from all over the world), spotify, napster, juke (whatever that is), qubuz and tidal (hi-def audio), deezer, airplay (for all you iphone fans), bluetooth (incoming and outgoing), usb, tuner, cd, 2 x aux inputs, and the ability to play music directly from your device (phone, tablet, etc. ) and from a dedicated home server – all built in to this unit – oh yes and it simply sounds fantastic. I didn’t know that such small speakers could produce such amazing sound and that bass?.

I was disappointed that was no proper instruction manual with the equipment i purchased making it impossible get operate it correctly and use all the facilities on the equipment. I would appreciate your input, regards dave sharp.

Great sound and quite easy to use.

Loving my new hifi, easy to set up with or without the musiccast app. Got mine working with mi fiio x5iii and the multi room function is working flawlessly with my wireless speakers.

Incredible Sound quality from the world Largest Musical Instrument Manufacturer

Does everything it says on the box.

Excellent unit but overly complicated. Why do i need to use my phone to control a hifi. Yes i didn’t need to, but to get the best results it’s a necessity. The sound and manual controls were great, bluetooth great too, but could not connect my bluetooth headphones to this unit, despite them working with a sharp hifi and everything else.

This looks and feels a quality item and such amazing value for money. The sound is so clear without buzzing, vibrations or annoying any traits. The one really annoying thing is you have to fiddle with bare wires to connect the speakers. It reminded me of how speakers used to be connected in the 1970’s. Why they couldn’t just have a straight forward plug in, i don’t know. I wish too it had a stronger bass sound, but when you turn the sound up it is quite strong and the clarity never falters, so i would give it 8 &1/2 out of 10. Overall i am pleased with my purchase and think it is a quality product for a very good price.

Great little system, good sound and easy to use. Change of track on usb stick is unbelievably fast even from album to album.

This is a great product, and as there are some good reviews already i’ll not repeat what has already been said. We’ve had plenty of comments about the sound.

Impressive sound quality from the speakers. Very flexible i have one networked speaker but am planning more. Any source of any type can be connected individually to one or more rooms/speakers but rooms can be linked to a master to minimise complex configuration. Watch one of the helpful youtube videos for set up and remember to make your windows folder discoverable on the network if you want to use a windows server as a streaming source.

Stream you entire Music Library, Spotify Qobuz & more streaming services plus Internet Radio & DAB

I use to tape from my teac system fm to my tape deck but can’t acheive this on this system dissapointed.

For the last couple of years i have had a pioneer network hi-fi system, the hm72. It is loaded with features and can be controlled with an app but half the time the app crashes and it made using the unit a disappointing experience. I was half expecting the same from this yamaha mcrn470d but i have to admit to being pleasantly surprised. Not only that but it has exceeded my expectations. It really is a versatile and great sounding hifi. Set-up was easy and instructions aren’t really needed as it is obvious where everything goes. There are two aux inputs which i would imagine is more than adequate for the average user. I have plugged in my sony turntable and my sony mini disc player (yep, i still use one). There isn’t an optical input, which is a shame, but as i said most users won’t need one of those anyway. I also used a wired connection for the network along with a powerline adapter.

This yamaha hi first system has everything you could possibly want. It plays cds has dab radio fm radio and internet radio. It is very easy to set up and connects to your phone or tablet via bluetooth. The sound it produces is brilliant with great high and midrange and good bass. You can connect this system to your dvd player so i purchased the yamaha sub woofer as well to give the movie’s ground shaking bass. All in all a brilliant system small in size but big on sound very pleased with my purchase.

A great little hi-fi system – well priced for what it delivers in terms of sound and function. Out of the box, the system was quick and easy to wire up with the cables and cable wiring guide provided. Placing a cd in the tray i was quickly impressed by the sound quality of the accompanying speakers – well balanced and offering a rich sound. You won’t get the same base as a dedicated subwoofer, but these really are a good solid set of speakers which delivered a good range over a variety of musical genres that i tested. Testing out the connected functionality was also straightforward, starting with playing streaming music from my phone over bluetooth. This however was a little too easy, with no pairing required meaning that anyone within range of the system would be able to control and stream music. Not a problem for some, but living in a flat and with an increasingly connected world i am cautious that anyone could play whatever they wanted through my speakers, or even get onto my home wifi network via this system as it is not protected. Using the musiccast app enables you to easily access and control a lot of the functionality found in the system. It’s easy to select different inputs and functions with the remote supplied, but much easier to really get deeper and do more via your mobile. Personally, i just used spotify via bluetooth on my phone, but you can also use spotify, napster juke and others directly through the hifi itself – perfect if you want to listen to music without having to have your phone on you all the time.

So far so good, time no doubt will tell. Nice clean unfussy design and good tone. Pity it doesn’t stack cds but apparently you have to pay a lot more for that.

The power is up to 2x 90w ( not indicated at description before saletill now). That is ok for medium house. Fast delivery but poor contact with a seller before sale.

This yamaha musiccast mcrn470d network hi-fi system offers lots of options in terms of musical input and output. For the more traditional you choose from playing cds, fm/dab radio plus internet radio, spotify, auxiliary input from an existing source like a tv, however, the crx-n470d can also play files from a pc or nas or mobile device including a usb stick (most popular file types are supported), plus, you can connect a phone or tablet using bluetooth. In addition, the n470d can transmit via bluetooth to powered speakers etc. The unit uses yamaha’s musiccast app (available for android and ios) to deliver multi-room functionality and there’s a good range of add-on speaker options. The first decision you have to make is whether you buy the crx-n470d packaged with yamaha’s ns-bp150 speakers or choose your own speakers although they’ll need to be reasonably efficient as the rated output is around 22w per channel. Once you’ve opened the box you’ll find the n470d is a well finished device with a minimalist metal control panel and remote (batteries are supplied). Physically both the unit and speakers exude quality in their build. After you’ve installed the app on a mobile device you can connect the unit to the internet and i suggest the first thing is to check for a firmware upgrade. I found setting up the media server function etc. In use i think the sound is very good considering the price/size of the unit – i already own a comparable unit which is the marantz cr611 coupled to a pair of mission lx2s. You can customise the sound by using the usual tone controls and a built in ‘music enhancer’ which i think is similar in effect to a traditional ‘loudness’ control. The sound is warmish with a good sense of space, taut bass and smooth vocals/percussion making it entertaining and non fatiguing to listen to. Despite the conservative audio output figure the sound is smooth and, if you want it to be, loud. This is a system i’m sure i’ll spend many hours listing to.

Bluetooth & Airplay as standard plus support for Hi-Res Audio

Compatible with all Yamaha MusicCast items so expand your system and fill your house with crystal clear sound

Yamaha Electronics Yamaha NSP51 Speaker Package – – Great sound

You can’t really beat yamaha sound equipment and most competitors don’t provide such quality for the price. Massive centre speaker which is great for home cinema.

Absolutely the best value for money. If you’re looking for a good surround set, and very capable centre, then this package is great value, warm detailed sound. Even my wife who is super audiophile rated them.

Perfect for my yamaha rvx581 av.

What can i saybought these to replace an old setand really pleased with themhearing things i didnt hear before.

I love my music loud, huge and clear, so that i can hear all the intricate musical instruments. This system does it, as i have combined it with a subwoofer, and additional floor standing speakers. My configuration is as follows: the nsp51, is used as my rear left, centre, and rear right speakers, and i added yamaha floor standing speakers, for front left and front right and a powered subwoofer. The sound, the delicate notes are all delivered on plate for me to consume. I loved going out, not anymore (for now at least) as every film i watched is simply astounding to the ears, off i go dreaming away.

Absolutely fantastic speakers, i would never imagine speakers this cheap could be so good.

  • dream away in a musical estacy
  • Brilliant Service , Brilliant Speakers
  • Absolutely the best value for money

Excellent service from tva , ordered on 1st of february, due delivery on monday the 4th,but was delivered the next day saturday the 2nd ‘brilliant’ and of course the yamaha ns-p51 center speaker and 2 surround speakers also ‘brilliant’ , to match my 2 ns-f51 floorstanding speakers , brilliant 😀👍.

Really good quality speakers for the price. They sound fantastic together with my yamaha rx-v377 amp’ and a pair of old speaker at the back.

Yamaha Electronics Yamaha MusicCast WX010 Wireless Speaker, Wonderful sound and look, terrible control and connectivity

Better than sonos play 1 in terms of sound quality. Also in my opinion app interface is great, quality is amazing too as it should be from yamaha brand. I have bought both – sonos play 1 and wx010 – to setup and compare. Sonos went back 🙂 yamaha – stayed.Planning to extend my musiccast network soon. Also is almost twice cheaper than sonos.

This isn’t bad at all, a lovely looking speaker that takes up minimal space in your home. It can be wall-mounted or left free-standing, and being powered, there is no risk of the speaker cutting out halfway through an internet radio programme, for example. I’m not too bad with technology, although i’m not brilliant. I was slightly wary of the set-up, as i have used some wireless apps in the past that i had to re-install on my iphone 6s+ every time i used the device with which they are used. Sure enough, there were some issues. I had followed the instructions on the app, but connection for internet radio (what i really wanted this for) wasn’t happening. I installed mine before the other reviews highlighting connection issues appeared, which was just as well. I unstinstalled the app, re-installed it, and it worked really well from then on in. Connections were quickly made, and all appears to work well. I have no idea what the problem was initially.

I wanted a ‘dumb’ speaker, not a talk-to one. Followed which advice that this sounds better and is cheaper than the sonos. Easy to use under airplay, bit more fiddly for spotify.

Comments from buyers

“Recommended for anyone who can’t quite bear the cost of a Sonos setup
, Excellent sound quality but dependant of good broadband/WiFi connection.
, Good sounding small speaker

A lot larger and heavier than anticipated, but does come with the capability of attaching to a wall if you have some diy skills (i don’t)very easy to assemble and connect to bluetooth devices. Excellent range and quality of sound. Quite heavy on the bass but i’m not sure if that is because of the device it was attached to or the speaker itself.

Very happy with this speaker.

Only used it with airplay from my computer so i haven’t tried it’s full range of features yet.

Downside is the lack of apple music so you’re forced to airplay. Spotify and musiccast app are superb. Simple access to streaming, digital stored music on my network and internet radio. Replaced our dab kitchen radio with something far more flexible.

The speaker links seamlessly with my yamaha rxv681 av amp and yamaha wx030 speaker. The sound quality is superb with good lows, impressive mids and excellent treble. I would say that the slightly cheaper and smaller wx010 has a better sound than the wx030 but not by much (although thinking about it as i write it could be the acoustics of the room as i have never switched them around. )i have this speaker in the kitchen, the wx030 in the dining room and the av amp in the lounge. Its great to go from room to room with the same music playing throughout. No sync issues at all with yamaha musiccast its exceptional with an easy to use downloadable app. The build quality is excellent , the sound quality is superb and setup is childs play. If you really want to hear music throughout the house the yamaha musiccast system really is a great way to do it.

Good quality build and sound. Can eq it via the musiccast app. With treble mid and bass adjustment. Easy to set up but make sure the firmware is up to date if you are linking it with another device. Again this is done via musiccast app under settings.

The unit is powerful enough for a 20 sq. Sound quality is excellent, a little bass heavy to my ears as a default, but this is easily adjusted. The unit is very solid, and comes with a rubberised base and additional adhesive pads, so unwanted vibration shouldn’t be a problem. The musicmatch app is fairly easy to get on with, very quickly recognises any dlna servers you have set up, also has access to airplay, net radio, spotify, deezer et al, or can just be used as a bluetooth speaker. Remembers the last source used, so when you switch it on it’ll continue from wherever it was when you switched it off. I have 2 of these in different rooms and connecting them is straightforward, though i suspect the quality of the syncing will be very dependant on your wifi.

I’m very new to wireless speakers, so this was the first one i have ever used. I think the connectivity was good & quick. Very sleek modern design and also it’s nice and small, so easy for a work surface in the kitchen for example. The only thing that upset me was that you can only use spotify premium on this device & i only have the basic account. Other than that, very happy with the product.

Good speaker, connects well and sound quality is really good for its size. Musiccast app is ok, not the best but works relatively well and when linked to other speakers in my house creates a great music system. Whilst you can link these to a soundbar they do not function as surround speakers so look elsewhere if that’s what you are after.

These speakers are truly amazing. They easily fill a large room with balanced full sound. Given their size the bass is astounding. We’re so pleased we bought another for the dining room. We listen to music stored on a nas dlna server & internet radio which auto connects with power on so easy to just switch on & listen without needing to fiddle with apps. The music cast system is brilliant.

Best value for money of all competing speaker brands.

A good quality wireless and bluetooth speaker. I purchased 2 together with a musiccast crxn470d system about 15 months ago. Until recently the speakers kept losing the wifi signal which really annoyed me. However after further losses of wifi signals it was discovered that openreach had wired my broadband connection wrongly, since which time the speakers which are situated in different locations in my home, have worked perfectly and reproduced the sounds of an excellent quality.

Working well now but took some time to get it connected to wifi. A socket to link with record player would have been useful.

Nice feel product with a reassuring weight and build quality. Be warned that you need to break them in and to begin with sound is okay but tge more ive used them the better they’ve become and at £100 cheaper per pair than sonos are very happy. Software is intuitive and wifi range is good.

I am amazed at the clarity and room filling quality of this small speaker. It has a great range from high treble to bass with that can be felt and heard. This speaker is used in a large double height room and is performing well. This is a smart looking, very unobtrusive speaker. I like the clean uncluttered, simple design, the lack of knobs and buttons in favour of very sensitive touch controls is very welcome. Set up was straightforward and instructions easy to follow. I use ipads to control the speaker and have no problems with the app which is simple and intuitive. The one letdown for this dedicated apple user is the inability to play from itunes, thus having to rely on spotify (free), digital radio and music collection.

I have a number of small bluetooth speakers which are wonderful portable devices and for their size have good sound. But if you really want something that hooks up to your phone and can put our outstandingly clear sound with great base and loud enough to be heard at a distance then this is the item for you. As it is plugged in rather than charged it can really get some power behind it. First impressions are of a very well put together device. It appears like a small speaker but with the various functions on top you can see it is more than that. First thing i did was download the app which with a bit of setup connected nicely to the speaker and opened up options such as connecting to your phone’s library of music or being able to access things like spotify or radio stations. Unlike other such devices the app runs off your wi-fi so you get a more stable and stronger signal. The sound quality is very good and the volume levels can go up quite high. I find this useful as i placed mine in the dining room which is between my kitchen and living room and i can hear it perfectly clearly in each room which means when i am going back and forth whilst preparing food i do not have to turn my device on and off. It has a function for setting up which room it is placed in which likely optimises for the acoustics.

I bought this wireless active speaker for use in connexion with the yamaha crx 470 n musiccast system. The sound quality and connectivity is very good. If you are looking for complete portability however look elsewhere as the speaker has no battery power it must be plugged into the mains. For my family the main object of buying the yamaha musiccast system was to listen to internet radio in virtually every room in the house. My wife is an avid listener of france inter. Before the french government, in their miserliness, decided to switch off the long wave transmission my wife had am radios stationed throughout the house. The musiccast system restores this functionality with the added benefit of better sound reproduction. The musiccast system is very flexible just like sonos. The crx 470 music centre will play music stored on a computer hard drive and usb drive.

I have a wired bose system in the house, but is not suitable for modern technology. Which gave the yamaha a great review, 84% far higher than many brands citing four or five times as much. The app works well, and has it operates with airplay so you can go straight from apple phone/pad without using the app. Sound quality is excellent and will buy more for other rooms. 9th feb 2019 bought another it’s such a good product.

At almost £120 you might think this a tad expensive for a speaker but this is a speaker and a half and, in my opinion, worth every pennyopening the box i have to say i was a tad disappointed; it didn’t look any different from my old speaker (more compact but then things have moved on since my speakers were bought)it may be obvious to you but i’d not appreciated the difference that a wireless speaker makes; i’ve put it exactly where i wanted it – including on my patio when friends were round. My kids gave me spotify for christmas and up to now o hadn’t really valued it (listening on my phone was ok but not great). Listening to my choice of music through this speaker was a revolutioni have to admit i’m a bit scared of new technology and waited for my son to come home and set it up. A doddle was how he described iti’m also loving the internet radio that it comes with. I can listen to my favourite french radio station whenever i want – marvellous (manifique)i really find nothing to fault with this.

An excellent piece to keep yourself energetic by feeling every bit of music. Easy to connect with loads of options. The piece is with loads of options which making me feel wow. Easy portable and can connect via wifi or bluetooth. Music cast app is extremely easy to operate, gives loads of option of controlling music at different rooms.

Lovely crystal clear speaker , linked in with yamahas music cast so we can listen to the stereo in a different room .

Yamaha Electronics Yamaha MusicCast WX010 Wireless Speaker – The sound quality is superb with good lows, impressive mids and excellent treble

This speaker works using an app, and is easy to set up. The sound quality is excellent – i have a bluetooth speaker, but it runs on a battery so its power is limited. This really packs a punch, and comes complete with pads to minimise the vibration for that exact reason. The speaker does need to be plugged into a power source wherever it sits. You can control volume on the speaker but it’s much easier to do it via the app. You can set different ‘rooms’ to optimise the sound (dining room, parlour) but being a serf with only normal rooms i didn’t do this. I was able to stream music to it using my phone – both bbc radio (online) and my own music on my phone/tablet but not spotify, because i don’t have a premium account, infuriatingly, and it’s important to know this before you invest. I’m going to have to stick to my little bluetooth speaker for my spotifying.

For the price it is fantastic.

Although it has bluetooth and airplay it is way behind a sonos play 1 in terms of build quality, sound, range of music services, app and stability. I owned one for 2 weeks before sending it back and has to power cycle several times. Also annoying if you like to sleep in a dark room, you can’t turn off the light. Of course can put something over it but that’s messy.

Not sure i understand some of the other reviews on here. First, this is a powered speaker, so needs a power socket. It’s not meant to be a bluetooth speaker for your car or when you are out and about. Second, it connected first time for me via bluetooth, without the app. When i used the app and amazon music, it worked perfectly first time. Some other reviewers say you need spotify premium, so be aware if all your music is on spotify. I’m an android guy, and this works beautifully with my huawei p9 lite. So, as far as my experience is concerned, no problems at all. More than that: i find the sound deep and powerful.

Yamaha Electronics Yamaha YAS201BL Front Surround System : love it mutch better than the tv sound but not

This is very good for the price. As an old git, my hearing is not as good as it used to be. The sub woofer is a bit on the large side. I’ve not used it with a dvd yet.

Improves the tv sound 10 x fold. Only criticism is i would have preferred hdmi connectivity. The other connection options are fine. The wireless sub-woofer is brilliant and makes positioning a doddle.

Great sound to enhance from normal tv viewing. Great sound to enhance from normal tv viewing. The sub sounds fantastic too.

Sound is amazing, stream from my nas via gbox and replaced my hi-fi.

Love it mutch better than the tv sound but not. Love it mutch better than the tv sound but not as good as a real suround sound . But with no cables its well good for me lol.

Yamaha YAS201BL Front Surround System (discontinued by manufacturer) : We are very pleased with this surround system it is great with films and music ,the sounds are good and for the price it is exellent, we would certainly reccomend it.

The sound quality is superb. Just watch ‘africa’ with the full depth of sound; the thunder storms make you jump. The soundbar sits neatly in front of the tv and looks very classy.

I have a samsung 42in tv with sky in a 13ft living room. I’ve been using a fairly cheap samsung 5. 1 cinema system for the last year. Its ok but looks a bit cheap and the rear speakers may as well not be there. This yas-201 was very easy to instal, only the mains lead and an optical cable straight from the tv. Soundbar works with my sky remote using the inteligent setup feature which worked first time. You will only need the yamaha remote for special features like ‘clear voice’ or ‘univolume’. Checked it out with mtv base channel. Can’t fault the sound though the subwoofer upsets the dog a bit.

Good sound and value for money. Needed this for a second room, so didn’t want to to purchase one of the top end yamaha bars, which i have in our main lounge, but pleasantly surprised by the quality overall. Easy to set up including the wireless sub-woofer and by taking off the 2 small risers (1 screw) the height is ideal for the bar to sit in front of a flat screen tv without blocking the remote infra red signal. The bar itself is very sleek and stylish and smaller than you’d expect compared to the top end yamaha bars. There is plenty of volume and for this price the sound quality including the bass provides a good surround sound effect for the tv and blu-ray dvds. The clear voice function works well and really does work in interpreting those frequent moments in dvds where you playback to try and understand a critical passsage of dialogue which sounds like a mumble without this functiononly let down & loss of one star is no usb connection for mp3s etc, as you have to buy yamaha’s wireless connector to do this, which will work wirelessly with ipods then, but not other mp3s such as sony, which is what i have.

Sound as it should be heard. For anyone with even slight hearing problems this is the ideal way to enhance your enjoyment of tv sound as it is broadcast. By using the ‘clear voice’ control that sound is sharpened to make everything plain and easily audible at a volume that is below what you may have needed in the past. You are also able to equalise the sound level so that adverts are not sound-enhanced for volume. Just one small word of caution though. Please ensure that you have an optical cable output from either your tv set or set-top box as the equipment only has optical inputs (2) for connections. Otherwise installation is quick, easy and requires no tools to enable the sound bar to be up and running in at most 30 minutes. If both your tv and set top box/dvd/decoder have optical outputs don’t forget to order an additional cable. Altogether – money well spent and problems solved.

This is very good for the price. As an old git, my hearing is not as good as it used to be. The sub woofer is a bit on the large side. I’ve not used it with a dvd yet.

Happy with the sound and the look of the thing. Happy with the sound and the look of the thing – i did loads of research and then looking back if only i’d gone with a mate’s recommendation, would have brought this straight off. Must confess iv’e actually thrown the old multi speaker system – this is all you’ll ever need.

Listened to other bars, for the price range this was best and the sound is superb. Not at it anywhere near full blast as it is so good. Would recomend this for the price alone, it was £150. 00 cheaper on amazon than at john lewis and was delivered within a couple of days after ordering. It is just right size for our tv and table and it blends in so well, if you didnt know it was there you wouldnt notice it.

Excellent sound bar certainly improves the sound of flat screen tv’s.

Pretty damn good for the price.

Let’s deal with the aesthetics first. It makes a reasonable fist of compromising between cables and clutter and true surround sound. It is particularly effective when playing a blue-ray dvd. The clearvoice function works well and makes the dialogue in american films almost audible. Reaching for my audiophile hat, the sounds is quite embracing but lacks (i think) the detail that my hifi provides (does that make me sound like a pseud?)i do think though that it’s seriously short on the bass if you want to listen to music. Only an optical cable input, no analogue input, no usb connection. No ipod etc bluetooth connection unless you want to fork out another £40 or so. I’m also a bit disappointed with the subwoofer. It’s twice the size or more of my previous budget subwoofer but seems to have less oomph. I was thinking of giving it 3 stars but i’m nagged by the feeling that it’s a bit overpriced compared to competing products, so 2 stars. Hmmmm, but since i’m not in a position to compare the performance of those products i should give it the benefit of the doubt.

Yamaha yas201bl front sound surround. It has always been a criticism of flat screen tvs that the sound quality is poor. Decided to hit this issue head on and purchased the yamaha surround sound system. Very easy set up – all connected and ‘learned’ in under 10 minutes. A much richer fuller and fulsome sound achieved, makes me wonder why i took so long too add this enhancement to my tv set up.

We are very pleased with this surround system it is great with films and music ,the sounds are good and for the price it is exellent, we would certainly reccomend it.

Great sound to enhance from normal tv viewing. Great sound to enhance from normal tv viewing. The sub sounds fantastic too.

Been looking for a while for a system to make the sound of my tv and audio clear and i know i have chosen the right one. It ticks all the boxes and even has a sound level control so those annoying adverts dont blast out.

Great sound, good build quality. After getting a new tv i needed an upgraded sound system. The yamaha is extremely easy to setup and sounds great. I had initially set my heart on a bose solo as i wanted something simply to setup, no on screen menus etc, but when i heard the bose alongside the yamaha there was no contest, the yamaha won hands down. It was priced the same as the bose in john lewis so it made an easy decision, but that got even easier when i found out that amazon had it for over £100 cheaper. So i cancelled my order in jl and placed an order on my phone at 7pm as i walked out the store. Paid for next day delivery and 9:30am the next day it arrived. Excellent service and great value.

Once you work out how to turn off your tv speakers (using hotel mode) this system works great.

Yamaha SRT700 Soundstage – when unpacked I was very pleased with the soundbox

Did loads of research and kept coming back to yahama – no-one could find anything negative to say about it and the price was the best by far. Bought originally for the dimensions – didnt want a really wide one. Compared with friends 36′ and have to say this one was far far superior in sound. Very happy and at last can hear what is being said on tv.

When unpacked i was very pleased with the soundbox. The order was quickly processed and the item came extremely well packaged. When unpacked i was very pleased with the soundbox, it’s a decent bit of kit that does exactly what it says on the tin. The sound is extremely good and this is the first time since i got the tv that i have been pleased with how it sounds (sadly it seems to be a byproduct of modern slimline tv’s that the speakers sound awful) but this has certainly fixed the problem.

Yamaha NX-B55 tooth Speaker System – Top sound at the price point

Compact, musical, well built and versatile with blue. Compact, musical, well built and versatile with blue tooth, wired inputs and auto on/off.

Bluetooth is a lot better than my previous ones (creative). I listen mostly to acoustic music. After following the loudness tuning. You have to crank them up to do it. They need minimal volume on the speakers (call it 1 as there are no markings ). They came with silver coloured strips across them (box said they were titan as pictured. Don’t mind, as the silver ones were more expensive).

Great performing bluetooth wireless speaker. Nice looking and really top sound, well done yamaha. . Easy set-up and cool looking speakers. I have them in the dining area on the floor behind a small rocking chair. They are standing on a black granite block and the speakers are angled upwards from under the chair. They are about 6 inches apart. You can’t really see the speakers in this set-up because the sound is coming from underneath the chair, travelling through the slats. The sound is full and rich and fills the dining area with a quality sound. Having the volume control at around 10 o’clock seems to be right for this arrangement. The sound processing is minimal and seems to slightly and tastefully boost mid bass at lower volume levels, which is what the old “loudness” button used to do back in the day.

Awesome sound quality, great bass. I highly recommend these speakers.

When the price has been reduced to 59. 99, how can you miss the chance of having this excellent speaker?. I can’t say i got a pair of sensitive ears, but i’m totally satisfied by nx-b55. Bluetooth connection is easy and stable, having ‘standby mode’ to switch on/off automatically. Having got more for the money, i really enjoy the sound – surprisingly strong bass in such a small size comes up with warm and clear middle, bright and smooth hi band. (the only con: when playing in default eq setting, bass is so strong that you need to redress the balance by adjusting eq).

Top sound at the price point. These yamaha nx-b55 bluetooth speakers are a bluetooth version of an enduring favourite, the nx50. At the time of writing this review the price from camera centre uk makes these speakers a bargain with some outlets charging more than 2. Delivery was swift and in the sealed box you get the speakers, a mains adaptor, an audio lead for non-bluetooth devices and good instructions. The right speaker features an on/off switch, volume control and headphone socket. The left speaker has a captive audio lead to connect with right speaker – the lengths of both the mains cable and left/right speaker leads are generous for the type of device. Bluetooth pairing was easy with both my ipad and windows 10 pc. You can connect non-bluetooth products via the supplied audio lead and the only other rear mounted feature is the switchable stand by switch – you can control the speaker going to sleep automatically and override the feature if you wish. There’s also a feature which recognises when you connect a non bluetooth device automatically.
