Worked straight out of the box and great sound.
Like everyone else, i bought this sound bar to improve the speech quality of my flat panel tv. Well it is very neat, seems solidly built and it works. Speech is very clear and plenty loud enough for the room it is in. Yes of course bass tones are limited but then i was not seeking heavy bass and anyone who is, should look at much bigger sound bars or those with a separate bass speaker. The handset is big enough and the buttons are well sized and easy to use. Very good value little sound bar.
JVC Compact Sound Bar : A recently acquired panasonic 39in led tv had me realising how poor the sound was – tinny and often quite difficult to decipher. Audio connectivity was not great and it was a faff to connect the tv to my hifi. Researched soundbars to death, taking in to account a number of factors;1) the wife2) the wife3) price4) size and appearance5) quality6) the wifeit became apparent that “normal” soundbars are usually about a meter long. Under considerations 1,2 and 6, that meant that was too big and the thought of a separate sub woofer would have meant her being taken into hospital.I am not an avid film viewer so i don’t need to experience the wall shaking force of the demise of the death star. The spec of the jvc th-d227b soundbar was exactly what i wanted – small, but a quality brand and well reviewed. At five pence under £60 its cost was relative to what i wanted it for – an enhancement to the existing tv sound. So, is it any good?in my opinion this is one of the best buys i have ever made – there is noticeable sound improvement and by combining the tv sound with that of the soundbar (via optical connector) i get a much more rich sound with noticeably more depth, particularly with narrations/dialogue. Using the bluetooth connectivity with my mobile, the sound quality is good enough for me not to feel obliged to fire up the adjacent £1000 hifi, when all i want is some background music. It is a seamless fit with the telly resting naturally on the tv’s built in stand – i honestly do not think my wife noticed it for the first dayit was a cinch to install, the remote is basic but very functional – i pretty much only use on/off and vol+ and vol-.
Don’t expect full hi-fi surround sound but for the price the sound quality is excellent and there is a decent range of adjustment to get it exactly to your liking. I use it with a 22′ samsung telly and the sound bar is connected to a sky hd box via an optical cable, but here there is a slight catch-if you use it with a sky hd box the sound from non-hd channels will come through ok, but you won’t get any sound at all from hd channels unless you adjust the settings on the sky box. Go into settings, sound, then make sure that digital audio output-optical is set to normal, then you’ll be ok. You’ll need to do this as well if you use a co-axial cable to connect the sound bar to the sky hd box. Very good for the price and recommended.
Delivered as estimated despite christmas busy period.
Pleased with my purchase, thank you.
I bought this for use as a stereo pc speaker and for this use it is ideal. The sound bar is compact and produces good quality sound. Certainly better than the other pc speakers that i had tried in the same £50 or so price range. To get better sound you really would have to spend considerably more. The remote control and bluetooth are useful added extras.
Discrete little sound bar that has provided definite gains over the tv’s integrated speakers. Makes hearing speech much easier in films, but also provides a surprisingly decent and rich overall sound too.
What a great product plus good service.
Great sound bar, improved sound quality of my tv.
Great value and compact design, don’t use the cables it comes with. A few extra pounds spent on better cables makes a big difference.
Surprisingly good for it size works well just waiting for some optic cables.
Can’t wait to plug it in and hear that sound.
Brought this sound bar for me mum, its a very nice size, and no large subwoofer, which me mum likes. The main problem she has is when she is watching films from her blu-ray / dvd player the sound from her tv is not the best, she complains about the music and sound effects being to loud, then when the actors begin speaking, she finds it hard to hear them, so she is constantly turning up her tv and down which is very annoying. But since i brought this sound bar she has noticed a big difference, even i noticed the sound was much better. I did buy this much cheaper from curry’s / pc world for £49. You can connect vie coaxial, or optical, you don’t get the optical lead with the unit. I have set up the bluetooth and the music sounds crystal clear, might buy one for myself.
