August DAB+ Clock Radio Bluetooth Speaker MB400 – Wake to your Favourite DAB, FM or MP3 Music and Bring it with You – Portable Powered by C Cells (not included) : Feature-rich, doesn’t sound very good

The august has almost everything i wanted from a bed side radio alarm clock at a good price: 2 alarms, dab+, bluetooth speakers, a usb charge point, a dimmable display with plenty of place for information and the option to be woken up by the radio, a buzzer or my own mp3 tracks from an sd card or a usb stick. Ideally, the device could have been a bit smaller and powered via a usb cable, rather than taking up a 240v socket by yet another unnecessary power adapter. Yes, you guessed correctly, the power adapter reduces the voltage down to 5v = usb voltage. The mind boggles, hence 1 star deducted.

This is the second unit i have bought, since the sound quality is excellent and i have been able to secure them at a good price (this radio/speaker is available elsewhere for up to £70). I have one unit as a bedroom alarm clock and radio, and one as a radio in my bathroom- how nice to shower to decent sound. The one drawback is that everything is geared towards inputs- i. Playing things through the speaker, such ad your mobile phonest, usb stick, or mp3 player. Did no-one think it might be a good idea to have a headphone socket??. Sometimes it’s imperative to be able to listen to music without disturbing other people. Nevertheless, if you are looking for a small, robust, easy to use radio with good clear sound, i can recommend this.

Small & compact replacement for bulky mini hi-fi in kitchen. Very happy with the sound & bluetooth functionality for streaming spotify from my phone. My reason for awarding four stars – i think the designers missed out here by not having a remote control for the unit, a little inconvenient, but i knew this before i made the purchase. Would have been a five star review if it came with a remote.

This is a great bedside clock radio,it has all of the features one could expect a product at this price range to have, excellent signal, i don’t even need to pin up the arial. My only grumble is that it’s not immediately obvious how to do things like set alarms and set the time, to set an alarm you need to hold the snooze/dim button until alarm 1 alarm 2 etc shows on the display, once you figure this out from the well written ,clear instructions its easy. However they don’t tell you that the radio needs to be off to do this. The volume knob is very sensitive allowing you to choose any volume level that the radio is capable of, unlike my last radio that had up and down buttons that meant i could only select certain levels. During the initial scan it found 40+ stations, all of which were of a reasonable quality.

  • An alarm clock that forgets the days of the week in odd numbered years, but only in August!
  • The August has almost everything but cannot be charged via a USB able
  • Good sound, easy to use, but why no headphone socket?

August DAB+ Clock Radio Bluetooth Speaker MB400 – Wake to your Favourite DAB, FM or MP3 Music and Bring it with You – Portable Powered by C Cells (not included)

  • Make sure this fits
    by entering your model number.
  • WAKE UP TO YOUR FAVOURITE STATION – The MB400 clock radio allows you to choose your favourite station on FM or DAB to wake up to

  • FUTURE PROOF DAB AND DAB+ TUNER – With both DAB and DAB+ covered, you don’t have to worry about the airwaves going quiet through planned upgrades to DAB broadcasting

Jusy what i need down my allotment. Easy to follow instructions and it picks up 40 dab stations and stores them easily. If had to give one negative that would be the antenna not being the pull up metal type insted its a wire. . Although it does have a handy loop to pin it up in my shed. It pairs easy with my phone so i can use my spotify and pod casts. Its a neat tidy radio thats brilliant for home, garden and shed.

We now have two of these lovely little radios. The red one matches our camper and it comes away on holiday with us. The blue one goes well in our bedroom. I like that it can be powered by mains or battery. I like the sleep mode – you can choose how long you want it to play. I like that the alarm starts quiet quietly and then increases in sound to your chosen volume. The sound quality is fine – not at all tinny. The size is neat and fits in the spaces that we have available.

Sound is fine, and you can use a usb stick to have your own music to wake up. The metadata or filenames are not displayed on the screen though (it only displays rds/digital radio information), and you can only access your music in sequence and try to remember the number. The alarm clock has an everyday/weekdays only/weekends only switch which is convenient. The main problem is with the power : if you unplug the power cord from the wall socket, or if there’s a power outage, the radio will stop and lose all its settings even if you have batteries.Batteries wil only rescue the radio if you unplug the power cord from the radio itself first — not very helpful for power outages.

First radio i have bought for nearly 30 years so i was impressed how far they have moved on, the sound of the mb400 is first class t the point of now being the best sound/music system i own now. I haven’t got my head around all the settings as yet but i am sure that will come with a bit more time. One comment would be it maybe better to include the instructions in the language where it’s being sold, e. G uk sheet of instructions for the uk market and then they could be written in larger print for people who have vision impairment (like me). Packaging was about right although maybe a plain wrapper of some sort would improve the security when being delivered. A well made radio at a fair price and now a valuable asset. Btw i received a £10 off offer (instead of the usual £5 one) for a set of speakers which was really useful, thank you.

Solid unit that is well built. The nfc chip is great for pairing with my lg nexus 5 phone. Sound quality is very good at typical volumes but starts to struggle when cranked up. In my kitchen, it’s only a problem if the dishwasher is on. Controls are not all that intuitive but the instructions are more than adequate to get it tuned in and working. Nice little touch is the ability to dim the display – ideal if used as an alarm clock next to the bed.

I bought this to use on batteries as for bathroom & didn’t want to have to remember to recharge it. Lasted just a few days on cs even with little actual use. It sounds good & looks good but if you want one to use on batteries look elsewhere.

Excellent little radio for the price – beautiful sound, works so easily using the bluetooth, the usb the sleep timers etc- and i love the colour. I havent tried the aux yet, and have only used it with electricity so unsure how long batteries would last if needed. Cannot recommend this little radio enough.

I can’t be alone in struggling to find a decent ‘non retro’ looking dab radio / alarm clock right?to my view, this is well styled, is fully featured and sounds very reasonable for its size. The only reason it does not get 4 stars is the unintuitive user interface – why design in a control that was clearly designed for up / down / left /right / ok functionality and use it for something completely different?it is also disappointing that it only has a single volume control rather than a separate per function – e. Dab radio broadcast levels are different to fm, which are different again to a bluetooth deviceto end on a positive note, it was very pleasant to find the alarm have the option of being only active on weekdays (other options are every day or weekends), though of course a full schedule would have been even better (for those that don’t work a regular monday to friday schedule).

This does the job – it connects to bluetooth, and other devices, it allows you to set two alarms, and it has a sleep function. However, it feels like a cheap and poorly designed radio. The clicking sound when you press the buttons is so loud it wakes the baby up, and the features aren’t intuitive – e. You can switch the backlight off when the radio is playing, but not when it’s switched off. It takes a lot of brainpower to memorise how to use the various features. Also, the bluetooth stays connected and looking for signals all night – so woke baby up (again) having listened to bluetooth going to sleep, because i tried to watch a video on my phone the next morning. Most speakers will time out after a few minutes of receiving no signal.

Dab signal can be easily interfered with by other electronic devices. The most limiting factor, however, is that you can switch the led display off when playing the radio but at night when you turn the radio off for a bit of sleep, even on the dimmest setting the case of the radio itself glows from the light within and your eyeballs are welded to the back of your skull as the entire room is bathed in an eldritch glow. I replaced my old clock/radio with this one as the low-pitched hum it emitted used to disturb my sleep but there is no chance of sleep with this bedside searchlight. Have to use it in the kitchen now and keep searching for something both quiet and dull.

This stylish, retro, funky radio arrived today and it is brilliant and fantastic it looks good and sounds good. The bluetooth connection with my iphone is superb and my mp3 player connects to the usb socket. Sd card slot provides additional favourite music storage. Contrary to lesser reviews it is easy to set up and use, those who beg to differ have not looked at it properly. It really is a little gem, if you are considering a purchase then go ahead, you’ll be glad you did.

What a fantastic sound from this dab radio. We used it as a speaker for spotify on christmas morning and have hardly turned it off since. It’s very lightweight and easy enough for my 9-year-old to set and use.

This is a great little radio/clock/speaker. I needed a modern replacement for the micro system in my kitchen one that would play music but enable me to listen to radio as well. This is a smart, easy on the eye radio and has a whole lot of functions more than i need – i’m not complaining. It also takes a usb, and has bluetooth. Easy to set up, easy to use.

I had high hopes for this purchase. It’s colorful and i like that. But the sound quality is boomy and comes off sounding cheap. It’s got plenty of features that i needed including bluetooth connectivity and dab radio. The antenna is an unattractive spindly long wire that needs to be tucked away behind things. Maybe a great kitchen or workshop radio, but if you’re looking for fidelity audio this is not the one for you.

Surprisingly well made and sounds good. You’ll need to use the manual as the controls are not intuitive but once you have found your way around it has a kind of logic to it that is quick to get the hang of. Should have 5 stars but a few things could be better – if you use an sd card it sticks out at the back and is vulnerable, i wish there was a version with built in rechargeable battery, the battery cover doesn’t fit easily and doesn’t lie snug and there’s the not totally intuitive thing. After all that it’s great value for money, i’ll probably buy another for use in the workshop.

And here why-1) wakes me up mon – fri via it’s alarm to the sound of the radio. But then leaves me alone come the weekend (not like my old one. That thing would blare out rubbish pop tunes whether i was hung over, really wanting a sleep in or not wanting to face the world. We had more than one falling out)2) it’s cute. Do not underestimate the level of cuteness this radio brings. Sometimes i just sit and look in awe of this little radio. No worries just press the dab radio & it’s done. Easy peasy4) it has fancy functions- you can do bluetooth via your phone or fill up a sd card with music. Sounds cool, personally i haven’t a clue how to do those things. Still my old radio alarm clock did not do these things.

Before i had a robertson radio that was not dab. It couldn’t pick up virtually any station for me. So i returned it and got this beauty. It works very well – picks up radio 4, lbc, radio 2 (my big channels). The buttons are plastic, which for the price might be a little offputting, but i’d rather have decent radio. The clock isn’t massive, but you get used to it. I value having a working radio more. Also, the clock dims if you don’t press anything for 15 or so minutes. Sometimes i find it a little too dim.

Works well in my location, albeit i need to move it a bit to get the station signal fixed. Dropping it to 4 stars is because it isn’t the easiest to set up if your not techie minded. Another point to note is when playing the tracks on your usb stick it doesn’t display the title of the track, so looking for a particular one is only possible if you print out your track list first. It has a nice tone to it though.

August DAB+ Clock Radio Bluetooth Speaker MB400 – Wake to your Favourite DAB, FM or MP3 Music and Bring it with You – Portable Powered by C Cells (not included) – Good little all rounder

Lots of features for the price. I was specifically after these features:bluetoothbattery powered optionfront facing lcddabaux ini actually struggled to find one that had all of these features at the time. I’ve had this for 3 years now. Never struggled to get a signal – in fact i hardly uncoil the antenna wire at the back at all and get a good dab signal. I use it mainly for dab and bluetooth from my mobile. Sound quality is pretty good for something this size. It doesn’t last long on batteries but sadly no dab radios do :(the only issue i have with it is, despite owning it for 3 years i still regularly turn it off by accident because the power button and the ok button are in opposite positions to where i’d expect them. (the on/off button is in the middle of the direction pad, weird).

Never leave reviews but couldn’t not. Think little radio cost £40, and i’m over the moon. Absolutely one of the best cheap things i’ve ever boughtit has sd slot, dab, bluetooth, usb, alarm clock chuffed to bits, and i thought it would sound like a bibble in a can but it’s actually pretty good.

Excellent little radio for the price – beautiful sound, works so easily using the bluetooth, the usb the sleep timers etc- and i love the colour. Reviews from purchasers :

  • An alarm clock that forgets the days of the week in odd numbered years, but only in August!
  • The August has almost everything but cannot be charged via a USB able
  • Good sound, easy to use, but why no headphone socket?

Sounds great, i like that it has so many functions. Relatively easy to use once i read the manual, but not intuitive. Connects well via bluetooth to my phone. The sleep timer is good – i can use bluetooth mode to play music from my phone to go to sleep, and it wakes me up with the radio mode in the morning. It did say in the manual that the radio mode allows specific stations to be set for the alarm, but i didn’t see an option for this when setting the alarm.

Great radio and value for money. Dab reception great in the bedroom where i use it. Compact too plus battery or mains. Bluetooth speaker brilliant to play podcasts and audible books from iphone 6s+. Only thing i criticise is the buttons don’t feel that solid and very ‘clicky’ and volume knob goes from ‘stiff’, low volume to ‘looser’ has volume turned up. Still worth it and recommend.

I’m really pleased with this radio. I use it as a bedside alarm and it looks very nice. It sounds even better – sound quality is excellent. I found it very straight forward to set up. Only a few very minor quibbles: 1/ the display is too bright for me at night even at its dimmest so i lean a book against it 2/ contrary to what the instructions say, i can’t find a way to specifiy the dab channel for the morning alarm i. It will just play the last station tuned in to 3/ i put loads of music on an sd card but you can only navigate the sd/usb inputs sequentially track by track, not even by folder, which is limiting. Overall, based on a few weeks of ownership, great product. What i like most is the massive variety of inputs, including an sd card slot (not often featured on similar products).

This replaced the most annoying radio alarm known to man. The old one finally stopped working intermittently so i wanted something easy to program and not too expensive. This was easy to program once we were able to establish a signal in my loft bedroom. It is good value and came well packaged. I can also see the screen; it’s bright enough to read.

This does the job – it connects to bluetooth, and other devices, it allows you to set two alarms, and it has a sleep function. However, it feels like a cheap and poorly designed radio. The dab function can cope with my tablet being nearby without descending into crackles, unlike the previous radio. It isn’t especially intuitive to program, but the addition of bluetooth functionality more than made up for that. I love being able to play music on my phone fthough the speakers without fannying around with any cables.

What a fantastic sound from this dab radio. We used it as a speaker for spotify on christmas morning and have hardly turned it off since. It’s very lightweight and easy enough for my 9-year-old to set and use.

I can take a lot of button presses to get from one source to another and it’s far too easy to click once too often and skip past what you want; then you have to start again.

“An alarm clock that forgets the days of the week in odd numbered years, but only in August!, The August has almost everything but cannot be charged via a USB able, Good sound, easy to use, but why no headphone socket?”

In terms of versatility, it gets 10/10 from me. You can, one way or another, play music from just about any source. Build quality is ok, no better or worse than i would expect for the price. I can only give it 4 stars though because it is not as easy to use as it might be. I can take a lot of button presses to get from one source to another and it’s far too easy to click once too often and skip past what you want; then you have to start again.

This is my first dab radio and i’m more than happy with it. I was attracted to this particular unit because it has lots of options for playing music including usb and sd card. I’ve tried both and they’re fine, as are the dab, fm and bluetooth options. Set up for everything, including the alarms, was easy enough if you read through the guide. There are a couple of concerns. The buttons are a bit stiff and you do need to be pretty quick when you are storing stations since the display is a bit too speedy in returning to the top of the list. Other reviewers have pointed out the white noise at very low volume and this is annoying. However, at this price and with the options it offers, this unit is really good value for money.

This is a nice, slightly retro-looking clock radio with alarm. I love the way the alarm starts quietly and then builds up in volume. I always have it on beeper, rather than radio, but there are options to use any music device via bluetooth, or even a card reader. What i’m not so happy about is the dim display. Waking up in the middle of the night and peering groggily at the clock, it’s hard to decipher the numbers, so i never know what time it is. The picture of the radio on the amazon website shows nice clear figures. They are not this clear, honestly. My old clock radio had bright red figures, so very easy to see even without my glasses on. I realise that perhaps the bright red glow would keep some people awake, although i never had that problem. Perhaps that’s why this clock has such dim little numbers.

Happy with this radio – very clear, good quality sound, we have it by the bed as an alarm and you can see the time perfectly without it being too bright to sleep next too – the radio appears to be of good quality and well made, its not to light and flimsy feeling so all in all a good product worth buying.

Really good quality product which gives a lovely clear sound. Does everything i could want and the bluetooth facility is superb. Perfect for use in the garden as battery operated as well as mains. Would recommend both product and seller, dispatch was very swift, arrived a day early.

It’s a great little alarm clock, decent quality too. However, my one bug bear is that in 2015 it forgot that the week started on monday and finished on friday, and the weekend was saturday and sunday. It though the weekend was friday and saturday and the week was sunday to thursday. Not good for an alarm clock. I contacted support and they said it was only for 2015 and only for august. I could live with that, so i did. They did offer me a small refund of some of the price but i let it slide. Come august 2016 – no problems. Problems again – the same mix up between when the week and weekend starts and finish.

Good speaker, shame about the app. Speaker is excellent for its size. Unfortunately the app lets it down as it only seems able to detect the speaker at switch on.

Unlike the others it was easy to set up and has brilliant sound quality. Third time lucky in finding an airplay compatible speaker, thanks to amazon i was able to return the others. Unlike the others it was easy to set up and has brilliant sound quality. The only slight gripe is the braille type touch controls on the top are difficult to see in bad light.

This is a great little speaker. This is a great little speaker. When i opened it i thought ‘oh man this is tiny’ but it really kicks out some good volume. The bass and drums are nicely defined so that you don’t end up with them merging into one farty noise together. It is really easy to set up and use. I am definitely going to be getting more of these including a few of the larger model ws300 and set them up all over my house.

Portable Airplay and Multiroom Speakers – August WS150 – Stream Music through your Home over WiFi – Android and Apple App Included : The set-up procedure – locking into my wifi – defeated me. I had to defer to my son (an it man) to get them working. And even he was frustrated initially. The sound is better than i expected.

Excellent build and functionality with decent sound. August sent me this wi-fi speaker for review, and i think it’s very good. The ws150 is the smaller sibling of the ws300; it has all the same functionality and electronics as the ws300 but is around half the size and only one third the weight. This is great if you need an easily transportable wi-fi speaker, but the sound isn’t as special on the ws150. However, it looks good, the build quality is excellent, it works really well and the sound is still very decent. Functionally, it’s very good. Connection via bluetooth (nfc and conventional pairing) was simple and gave a good solid connection up to at least 8 metres. Aux wired input also works fine, and the stylish, simple controls on the top are very good. Wi-fi set-up was pretty simple, too, even for this novice. The app downloads and installs without difficulty and connection was pretty easy after that.

The performance from this tiny speaker is nothing short of amazing. I’ve had it for a couple of weeks and it produces some of the best sound i’ve heard from much more expensive portable speakers. Setting up is relatively simple. If you’re not tech savey then i suggest you follow the instructions very closely. I’ve requested a ws300 i was that impressed so i will be updating this review if i manage to get one. I’ve tested it in wifi mode. It seams to create some sort of bridge. You connect ot the speaker and it connects you to your wifi for internet. I’m not sure if that will have negative effects on busy home wifi networks.

Excellent budget multi-room setup. I took a gamble and bought 1 ws300 and 2 ws150’s having just read a few of the reviews. Due to a neat offer on amazon at the time, it only cost me £2 more than only buying two of the speakersi’ve long hankered after a sonos setup around the house, as friends with deeper pockets have impressed with the multi-room setups they have – but i’ve never been able to justify the cost of a clutch of sonos speakers. I have experimented with a cheap airplay speaker (tango air) and airplay bridges to connect existing speakers, but can only achieve a multi-room setup via a mac, not via ios devices. So i thought we’d give august’s new system a go. I plugged all three speakers in and turned them on out of the box, downloaded the august alink app and followed the on-screen instructions – within 5 mins i have a multi-room setup that allows me to play the same thing (at different volumes) in three rooms, pair two and have a different source on the third, or have three things in three rooms. The simple pleasure of having the same song playing in the bedroom, living room and kitchen as you walk around the house was exactly what i wanted and perfect for parties. A few points:- music source. Can play local media off mobile device very easily from within alink app.

Easy to set up and use speaker. The speaker arrives well packaged and there are details on the front of the box of what this speaker is capable of. Inside you also receive a usb cable, audio cable and a user manual. It is suggested you charge the speaker fully before first use with the provided usb cable to a powered usb port, a full charge can take up to 7 hours. Whilst the speaker is charging this will give you time to download the app ‘aug alink’ either from google play if you own an android device or if you have an iphone from the apple store. Enable wifi on your device and connect to your network. Switch on the speaker and after only 20 seconds the speaker will enter wifi mode with the lights of the speaker letting you know what stage the speaker is at. Using the app on your chosen device, whether that would be a phone or tablet, you can now proceed to run the application and press ‘wifi setup wizard/add device’. The wizard will glide you through the setup stages with ease and if you want to add another device to the list like the other model speaker you can do this by repeating the steps, the setup wizard takes you through. That is not all the speakers can do, other benefits are:you can connect your phone or tablet directly to the speakers wifi network which then will turn your speaker into a router.

kindly given to me to review this is a portable bluetooth speaker that can also tap into streaming services thanks to it’s built in ability to log onto wifi networks. The ws150 is the smaller sibling to the larger ws300 and it shares many of the same looks. Along the top are control buttons, on the back is the power switch, aux in, and a microsd card slot. The speaker can be used as a bluetooth speaker, streaming music directly from your mobile, but to really get the most of this you want to set it up on wifi. Once i’d spotted a problem with the virgin superhub 3. You’ll need to download the august app and then use the app to configure the speaker. This is where the superhub 3 caused an issue as it has a single network that you connect to, rather than having a 2. My mobile had automatically picked the faster 5g band and it couldn’t connect the speaker as it requires the mobile to be connected to the 2. This is likely just a problem with the way the superhub 3 tries to make life easier by only presenting a single network, so if you get an error message when trying to connect this could be the issue. I happen to have an android tablet that only connects via the 2. 4 band so i used that to complete the setup without any further issue.

Multiroom Wireless Airplay Speakers : Lovely speaker but beware the hidden “demons”

Amazing sound quality at an amazing price, really please with this purchase.

Multiroom, bluetooth, wifi, nfc and plenty more. Size vs quality, nothing can match for sure. In my opinion – if the speaker can make you believe what you are hearing, the job is almost done. 4000mah battery and usb out for charging coupled with plenty of connectivity options. I’ve been using this for past 7 days and so far worked brilliantly. The soundthis speaker sounds exactly you want to hear. No matter your musical tastes and genre is, whether you are a bashed or not – this speaker delivers the music. Quality of audio is clean and open, no colouring though slightly mid forward, lows and highs are just accurate.

Multiroom Wireless Airplay Speakers – August WS300 – 15W WiFi/ WiiMu / Bluetooth : Hi fellow amazonians :o)firstly, i ‘d like to point out that i did not get the speaker free via amazons vine program or from august themselves. Believe it or not, i bought this with my own hard earned cash and through much research and a bit of blind faith. . I did however get the speaker during one of amazons lightening deals for the brill price of £85. :o):o) i did find it strange that i had added this to my wishlist and the lightening deal came up a couple of days later. . But i for one am not complaining and am certainly more then happy with my purchase :o)firstly i’d like to get the the bits that i’m not too endeared with out the way first. 1) the finish / build could be a lot better, as the inputs on the back aren’t finished off that well, and the rubber top and bottom are not as flush with the light grey metal surround. Regardless of price, i would expect nothing less then perfection. I know a lot of speakers don’t have cases, but one would have been nice – if anyone from august of fellow customers can advise then that would be great. 3) august alink, which is the app you should look for in the playstore (incorrect app name given in the supplied manual – as pointed out in another review too) in order to control the wifi / multi-room features could certainly have a more friendly and functional ui, especially where playing content stored on your phone / tablet is concerned. I would love the developers to take the best ui features from my note 4 music player and black music player, as well as the sound quality of neutron music player. 4) i would also like to see existing playlists imported to the alink app, and also for the app to have a built in eq, so that one can tinker with the sound stage to their liking – if there is one, and i am missing trick then please again, do let me know.

Crisp clear and i can listen to iheart radio ♡♡. Have linked up with another august speaker and i am over the moon with the crisp clear sound. The speakers are in separate rooms so i can hear around the house without any worries or issues.

Works with your windows pc’s too. This wifi speaker sounds excellent. I’ve tried it on bluetooth, aux in and wifi using my hudl tablet without problem. 0 pc to stream to it was problemenatic (i was not even sure it would work with windows media player) but it did eventually after trying a few things. After setting up streaming on wmp wiimu player appeared and allowed streaming to ws300. My only critisism is that the manual is so small it is difficult to read. And it didn’t help me streaming from my windows pcs. But works over all sources now and sounds great. It is worth charging unit before setting up as my battery was very low.

Great sound, easy set up, works seamlessly with airplay. . I’d wanted a wifi speaker for a while and have kept an eye on the market, when these came out i watched the reviews and nothing else seemed to come close in terms of value and reviews. Finally got around to buying one and am very impressed. First impressions out of the box were good, the unit was a nice weight and tactile. The black parts are slightly rubbery feeling and the buttons have a nice click to them. The ‘click’ area is smaller than the engraved areas for each button – that is the only very minor issue on the feel, once you know where to click it’s no problem. There is also a usb charge lead and a mini jack connector lead. The box doesn’t include a mains plug, no biggy as usb plugs are only a couple of pounds on ebay. Set up with the app was super easy, the manual even has a qr code straight to app download. I followed the set up steps – which is basically entering your wifi password and choosing a name for the speaker – and i was done.

Buy far great speakers they hold there charge easy charge great sound and perfect for traveling you just connect via bluetooth or wifi plus i have the big speaker and small the small speaker and together awesome sound.

Great sounding wifi speaker with loads of bottom end, even at low volume. . I am very pleased with this purchase. Easy to set up and running, the bluetooth connectivity was painless, but the real point is the excellent sound. The speaker feels substantial, and even at low volumes it displays a really satisfying level of bottom end. I tried playing a variety of music, old and new, ranging from sonny rollins, the beatles, bert jansch, bob dylan, howlin’ wolf, slim harpo, the who, the kinks, the move, blue oyster cult, johnny winter, the monkees, gregorian chants and the velvet underground. It all sounded great, and although i haven’t yet pushed the volume whilst i ‘play it in’, i am sure that it will handle that, too. I am so thrilled with the purchase, that i think i’ll buy another to make it stereo.

Solid sound but a bit annoying. The stiff sliding switch on the back might be good for travel, but it makes it harder to turn on and off in everyday use. Annoyingly, it doesn’t remember the volume from the previous use. Connects well and good sound.

August sent me this wi-fi speaker for review, and i think it’s absolutely excellent. It looks good, it works really well and the sound is terrific. I’ll start with the sound, because if you’re paying this much for a speaker (it costs a hundred quid at the time of writing) you expect very good sound – and you’ll get it. It’s important to break in the speaker with at least an hour’s playing at low volume (i played it for three hours before trying anything louder) and after that it’s really, really good. It’s beautifully balanced with crystal clear tops and middles and a very firm but not over-dominant bass. It responds very well to eq adjustment, too. I have played a lot of music through this now, from 16th-century choral music to beaty, bassy modern stuff with most things in between and it all sounds really good. In classical music, individual instruments and voices are clear and excellently articulated, rock has a terrific punch and the deep bass in things like london grammar’s hey now is all there. In short, i’m delighted with the sound.

One of these on special offer and was so pleased with it that i bought a second one. I bought one of these on special offer and was so pleased with it that i bought a second one. I had some difficulties setting it up but got extremely quick (and helpful) responses from the manufacturer. The sound is good – probably as good as is possible from relatively small speakers. I have two small criticisms. First, the manual could give more detail to obviate the problems i encountered. Secondly, as i have seen pointed out in other reviews, there should be a timeout so it turns itself off after a specified time of receiving no music.

Lovely speaker but beware the hidden ‘demons’. Love the speaker; quality good; attractive unit; could be a tad more powerful but more than adequate for our needs. Downside is the relationship between the speaker and the app – the speaker ‘broadcasts’ across 9 of the 13 available channels in the 2. 4ghz spectrum, which can (and does in this house) cause all kinds of complications. Have spoken to august and it is not possible to turn this function off which is a real shame and i will have to return both these speakers. I basically need an attractive airplay speaker that plays music and not something that blocks out the very few channels available to me.
