Sony HT-CT381 2 – A hassle free alternative to 5.1 with outstanding results.

A very versatile speaker unit. ♦ brief ♦the ‘ht-ct381’ is a 2. 1 speaker system that’s more than just a “external tv speaker”. It has multiple hdmi in ports which makes the speaker act as a hdmi hub, on top of that it has multiple audio connections available such as bluetooth which makes this a very versatile speaker set. The whole unit feels solid and looks very smart with a much slimmer design compared to the previous models sony have done. Though depending on your rooms colour scheme, you may want to go for the black version instead. The soundbar itself can be wall mounted if need be or placed in front of your tv. Just bare in mind that the soundbar is almost 36-inches long, so do measure your space to ensure it will fit before purchasing it (if you decide you want to go for one of course). ♦ box contents ♦∙ soundbar. ∙ wall mounting kit (bracket & screws)∙ subwoofer pads. No hdmi cable is included, so if you’re planning on using the multiple device feature, you will need to buy one depending whether you have one spare or not.

1 surround amp and tanoy speaker and i have to say in lots of ways this is better if your an audio file and do mostly music. This sound bar has really suppressed mei got this to replace a dedicated 7. 1 surround amp and tanoy speaker and i have to say in lots of ways this is betterif your an audio file and do mostly music it’s finefor movies and games you would be hard pushed to find better in this price range.

Crystal clear sound quality from a very sleek and modern looking soundbar system. I’ve never actually used a soundbar before (in fact, i wasn’t even aware they existed) and so i must say that i was intrigued when i was offered this sony system. The basic concept is that it is a long, slim speaker that is placed under your tv (can be wall mounted if desired) and that this should provide a much better quality sound output than your tv. In addition, this system also comes with a separate, wireless subwoofer so that the bass sound spectrum is not distorted and a near professional sound output is achieved. My first impressions of this soundbar system were excellent (and to date, it has not disappointed) because it was incredibly easy to set up. Both the soundbar and the subwoofer come with separate mains power supplies, but other than that, they are completely wireless. As is the case with some systems, this can cause many headaches with trying to both components to connect with each other but i certainly didn’t experience any such problems with this sony system. All i had to do was plug both the soundbar and the subwoofer into the mains and almost instantly, the green light came on, on the subwoofer, indicating it was connected. It is also very easy to connect with your tv and can also be used with many other devices, such as a mobile phone for streaming of music over bluetooth etc. Broadly, there are two methods of connecting the soundbar to your tv: via optical digital cable (which is supplied) or with an hdmi cable (which is not supplied).

I’ve only ever used one soundbar speaker in the past, and it was a cheap, terrible thing compared to this one. The sound grew distorted if you had the television too loud, and anything with any bass would make the entire speaker vibrate unpleasantly on the shelf. This sony silver soundbar is an absolute beauty – very attractive in design, sleek and modern-looking. The sound quality is gorgeous because the rubber bottom of the subwoofer eliminates any noise distortion, and thanks to everything being wireless setup was astonishingly simple. Crank the volume and this baby really delivers. I’m absolutely honoured to have it in my living room and show it off when friends come over to watch a film, and can only say that although the price is steep you are definitely getting your money’s worth. Wholeheartedly recommended if you’re a tv nut who demands stunning cinema quality sound in the comfort of your own home.

Long, shallow, sleek looking soundbar with subwoofer; gives the illusion of sound from all around the room. . This is the first time i have owned a soundbar, and wow, it certainly opened my eyes, and ears. I had looked at some models in stores and decided that the sound reproduction really wasn’t worth paying so much extra for. This is something different. It’s worth noting that this soundbar is a sizeable piece of kit, it arrived packaged in a large l shaped boxed unit. Out of the boxes the soundbar itself is almost a metre across. It’s not deep or very tall – a fraction over two inches, or 5 cms – and as such doesn’t obscure our tv screen when placed below it. At 38″ our tv is actually on the small side for what this unit can cope with, which is tvs up to 48 inches. The subwoofer speaker is wireless, which means that it is much easier to obtain a balance of sound by moving the speaker around the room once it is set up – no trailing wires snaking up walls to a shelf or bookcase where the speaker is perched.

A hassle free alternative to 5. 1 with outstanding results. . I will be the first to admit i was reviewing this item with a preconceived notion that it would not be up to scratch compared to my panasonic 5. 1 system as “surround sound” was the be all and end all of home theater sound. I hold my hands up and admit i was wrong. The box arrived and it kind of resembled a cardboard dining table/throne due to the shape, the subwoofer making up the seat and the actual sound bar making up the backrest, once opened and laid out on the floor it was considerably smaller than the boxed version but still sizable enough that it looked menacing enough. Installation was an absolute doddle, the subwoofer comes with a rubber foot which is ideal if you have wooden or laminate floor as it eliminates vibration. The subwoofer is also wireless which means you can place it anywhere in the room and as its a bass speaker it doensn’t need to be placed in a specific location to get the full desired effect. The sound bar itself is very aesthetically pleasing and sat nicely underneath out 47″ tv with no obstruction of view (or obstruction of the remote control receiver) once installed we tried it with a variety of different media, firstly a blu ray movie (avengers assemble) and i was blown away with the sound quality (i opted to turn down the sound completely on the tv as this created a slightly annoying echo) the sub woofer is far superior to my panasonic one that came with my 5. 1 sound was more that suitable and i really didn’t feel like i was losing out on anything at all. The sound quality was breathtaking and every woosh and bang was received with a child like grin. We also tested this with some music using the bluetooth connection using my samsung galaxy s4, we listened to some heavy metal (slipknot v. 5 the gray chapter) and some hard dance music (jay viper digital drome mix) and both gave fantastic results, i found the bass a little heavy but this was easy adjusted. All in all as a replacement or alternative to 5.

I should not have bought these. I should not have bought these. They are not practical for a flat. That is if you consider other residents.

Product is great, but there is no compatibility with any lg smart tvs. The sony hdmi arc doesn’t work with lg brand; there are different forums on the web where you can read about this issue. The only hdmi working were the ones between the sound bar and 1. The lg blu-rays player (and that definitively confirms that there was nothing wrong with the hdmi arc itself) and 2. Without going into details, hdmi arc is a two ways hdmi. You normally connect a sound bar to the tv via the hdmi 1, which is arc. Anything that is connect to the sound bar hdmi, will be seen on the tv.
