Sony GTKXB7B : Future speaker for today

Absolutely love it, clear sound and great bass. Even when full volume the sound quality does not crackle or deteriorate.

Item bought from a high street retailer, for a small home gym. I required a single speaker, bluetooth to play music from htc phone, good bass, no wire clutter. Demo model in the store didn’t give it justice as i was looking for a good bass level, and this can’t be felt on a steel shelf surrounded by other speakers, staff member insisted it’ll do the job in a normal size room on the floor. Bass is very good, as you expect from a normal surround woofer. Even with it off it’s impressive. Lights are annoying, so left them off. Connects to phone out the box. Clarity is very good, not a 7. 1 surround, so don’t expect it. Very loud, and i can see it being a good use for house parties, birthdays etc. Some mentioned that it’s got lag when used with dj equipment. I don’t think it’s built for live djing but to just play music from a single output source is good enough, not like your typical marshall speakers etc. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a single speaker with bluetooth connectivity, and good bass.

Superb bluetooth speaker ,the lights, the sound. Compare this for the same price as a sonos or bose hand sized speaker. No comparison its loud, big and the lights r amazing. The sony app to go with it works well controls all other music apps and has loads of light settings from off through to rave. Wont regret buying hope it lasts.

I absolutely love this machine. I absolutely love this machine. Not sure the neighbours do tho. Its loud and clear and i haven’t experienced any of the latency some of the other reviews mentioned. Can’t wait to test this at the party this weekend but reckon it wil do well.

For most users you wouldn’t notice the 1/2 to a full second of latency between what your input device is playing and what’s coming out the speaker, so it’d be fine for people who just want to play some tunes. I bought this to dj with though, as it’s powerful enough for a decent party, and the latency made it impossible to mix with cause you can’t beatmatchif that’s not a problem for you, it’s definitely a decent speaker for the cost, its loud and bassy. It also looks pretty sick with its beat-syced disco lights and strobe. If you’re ever going to hook it up to a set of decks, forget it.

It will definitely be a great addition to the kitchen at unithe sound from the speaker at first was a bit scratchy, but after playing music at high volume for an hour it seemed to be fine. I’d also recommend adjusting your device eq to better balance the lows and highs. I got the ‘songpal’ app running on my android phone and that works well in the background. It controls the music with the included remote and also adjusts the lighting effects. The built in strobe and leds make the initial appearance of a black box far more interesting. The lights flash in time to the music. The remote is really useful.

Pretty loud but very unrefined and boomy bass. Maybe i’m not the market it’s designed for. Upgraded my sonos s5s instead.

Loud and powerful but with better than average audio. This is basically an expensive party speaker and although the sound quality is pretty decent the device is too big and bulky to use much at home for general listening. It can stream music from your ios or android phone over bluetooth and can be configured using the sony songpal app. It can link wirelessly to another similar sony speaker to give a full stereo effect. It is no sonos and cannot connect to your wifi network and play music directly from the internet or from your home servers but can only stream from the phone. It has some built in bright and garish led lights which no doubt some people may appreciate and will certainly add atmosphere to a party and these too can be controlled from the app although as with the audio i found a fair degree of latency when using the app. Audio quality is not the main feature of this party speaker but in fact the sound is not at all bad as well as being very loud when cranked up. The sound carries well both indoors and outdoors and although mains powered only it would work well for an outdoor party (although take note that it is not water resistant). This is an excellent speaker for a party, is good and loud with surprisingly good sound quality for what it is. The visual effects are striking and powerful although not for all tastes.

Friends wouldn’t let me take it home. I bought one for christmas and took it to a friends new year eve party as the sole source of music – my friends loved it and demanded to buy it off me the following day – so left it with them and bought another one the very next day.

Hello very nice speaker system works great recommend to lovers of music. Hello very nice speaker system works great recommend to lovers of music.

Good sound, excellent speaker.

Brilliant sound, easily portable and great quality. Bought for a performing arts dept. In school as an easily transportable pa around school. Majorly impressedgreat sound, solid build, controllable via your phone, really loud with a decent amount of rangehaven’t tried with our digital decks yet, to see if the lag is as bad as mentioned, but so far very happy. Showed other departments who are now considering buying them too. Tbh, probably going to get one for home.

Should get the dancing started. This sony gtk-xb5 compact high power one box music system is ideal for social gatherings at home as it combines both a solid audio output together with lighting effects including strobe. The speaker is designed for use in horizontal or vertical orientation and has a sensor to optimise the stereo in either setup. In vertical mode the unit measures 524mm high x 262mm wide x 273mm deep. Audio output comes from two 130mm woofers and two 50mm tweeters and the unit weighs in at 7kg – this speaker is mains powered only. The gtk-xb5 is constructed from plastic and mdf inside with integral handles making it easy to move around – the build quality is good and the unit feels as though it will survive the rough and tumble of being carted around to parties etc. There’s the option of bluetooth connectivity (with nfc) or audio line input. Control is either via the built in control panel or more comprehensively via the sony songpaul app (although it’s name sounds more like a karaoke app) which is available for ios or android but not windows phone. You can also daisy chain additional speakers with this one. I’ve been using this sony speaker for a few days now and really like it.

The first thing to say about this speaker enclosure is that it is huge. But it has a huge party sound too. Unless you have an awful lot of parties, you’ll probably want to hang on to the packaging, because the snappily-titled sony gtk-xb7 uses up an awful lot of space when not in use. If you think of the monitor/foldback speakers musicians have on stage during concerts so they can hear their performance, well, this thing is about that size. There are a couple of carry-handles, and it’s not too heavy, so it can be moved about easily by one person. It can be placed vertically or horizontally – the speaker automatically detects its orientation and turns on the appropriate speakers to give a stereo output. It you’re placing it horizontally you’ll get a better sound by placing it on a table, rather than the floor. There are three tweeters (only two of which are active at any time, to give a stereo output) and two decent mid/bass speakers, which coupled with a large reflex port give a creditable bass output, which you can optionally boost in software. The power supply has a small cooling fan – this enclosure really means business.
