Sonos CONNECT:AMP Smart Wireless Stereo Adaptor : would like to be able to separate my sons from

Brilliant addition to my sons set up. Easy to use and set up excellent sound.

Amazing sound quality, and like all sonos products, it is easy as 123 to set up. I have mine powering my outdoor speakers.

This is the original sonos product and is truly a ground breaking product. What makes sonos revolutionary is the complete focus on internet audio that includes at least three areas of excellence; delivering high quality audio; sourcing network based music; seamless controlfirstly sonos is an audio product and spends a significant amount of time on sound quality of their product. While not being an expert on this i’ll highlight one example that shows the levels of dedication they instil into their product. When you have two sonos boxes around the house, they measure ‘ping’ response times between them and then factor in a delay in sound being produced at the master sonos box so that the audio output at the two sonos boxes is synchronised down to the millisecond level. Similar levels of attention to detail abound in the product and make it an excellent audio device. The real excellence of the product though comes in how it sources neworked audio. Whether this is from a local computer, or nas, internet radio, or internet music service such as spotify, rhapsody or many others. You have access to more music than you ever have had below at the touch of a button. I’d strongly recommend people try out a free trial spotify or similar service to see what the experience is like. The last revolutionary aspect though is the level of control you can have over the sonos box.

Does what it says on the tin. Seems a bit quieter than the play:1 and play:3 i have, but might depend on the speakers, need to get some better ones.

Sound quality, driving quality speakers, is excellent. It is expensive, as are all sonos, but there is little alternative. I am having ongoing trouble with wifi interference, that sonos support have yet to accept is even a problem. [two years on – and updatesonos were never able to solve the wifi problems that plagued my whole setup (four rooms). I ended up running network cables through the whole house, and everything has been reliable since. It took two years to do, hence the update. I still love the sound of this unit paired with b&w ceiling speakers. It provides power and detail as required. It also works very well with my turntable (phono amp required), which i have configured to automatically play on a pair of sonos:3 speakers in another room. In conclusion: after two years of play, i am still loving my sonos:amp and would recommend. ]

SONOS CONNECT:AMP Smart Wireless Stereo Adaptor : Easy to install, supported by all the streaming services.

Brilliant, powerful sound, and i can use it with my good floor stander speakers- it is better than my old (but decent quality/brand) proper amp. Totally wireless, and takes minutes to set up.

5 star product but 3 stars for the price given its more than a speak but in essence just an amp. Needs to be priced around £100 lower. But for a bathroom solution necessary.

This functions reasonably well for streaming local content. However, streaming of bbc radio stations is currently broken. We’ve had numerous issues with streams breaking up, and stopping altogether. This is on a regular basis, making the system unusable for radio. Certain programmes are also not available due to international rights issues (we’ve even had this with the radio 4 today programme, so it doesn’t just affect sports events). Customer support isn’t very helpful, simply blaming the need to supply some lower quality legacy streams, due to the bbc switch to a different streaming format. Sonos haven’t revealed any timetable to fix this, and any solution may not be supported by the current hardware. If radio streams are important to you, then i can’t currently recommend the sonos systems. Update 5/6/15: sonos support have been in touch to mention that the bbc is fixing some issues with the streams, so they should be working more reliably by 9th june. However, out of desperation, we tried replacing our router (virgin media superhub) with a new one (asus rt-n66u).

Love the quality of sonas, was not disappointed very easy to set up and sounds great.

No issues with setup, would like to be able to separate my sons sonos from my devices, but thats a feature sonos have chosen to ignore for years now. (discussed ad infinitum on their forum).

Sonos is in my view the best multi zone system, and this is a must have for my ceeling speakers.

I use this system to drive 2 sets of speakers in my bedroom and en-suite bathroom. Setting it up and using it is simplicity itself; easy to find my favourite radio stations and podcasts, easy to connect to my nas for stored music and easy to ply music on my device. So much more straightforward than the airplay based system it replaced and my other bose soundtouch based streaming systems. Early days but its also really responsive and so far i’ve had no buffering. I wish i’d gone down this route years ago rather than investing in bose. I’ll be changing these out for sonos one and play3 over the next couple of months i think.

It’s solid and very well made. The speaker connections hold the bare wire firmly in place with spring loaded clips. It’s also very quiet, the solid aluminium casing deals with heat dissipation, thus cutting out the need for a noisy fan. Once setup, you don’t need it to be in sight. Just in a ventilated space (i have mine out of sight on top of a kitchen cabinet). Only the speakers need to be visible (better if ceiling mounted, or high up pointing down). It’s very simple to set up, and add to your current system. Within the controller software you can add another device, then when prompted (you have 2minutes to do it) push the volume up and mute button together for a second, then it connects up using your existing home wifi. If you don’t have wifi, you can plug in network cables, but that just defeats the object of a wireless speaker system in the house. The 50w per channel is more than enough for a modest pair of speakers.

It is what it says it is, a great piece of kit for your home audio system.

Beats more expensive amplifiers while providing the usual sonos streaming to tannoy revolution speakers.

The sound is great and with the analogue input we can play music via our echo dot very easily. The system is very fast and responsive in use. We have a lot of music (over 1,000 cds) and at various times they’ve been loaded into itunes, google play and amazon music library. We play music either from the amazon music library using alexa and the echo dot or the sonos app. The sonos app is the only one that is fast to use when managing so many albums. 1000 cds with about 10 tracks each is only 10,000 data items and it seems odd this is a challenge for modern apps but only the sonos app manages it.

Loved the first one so much, i have bought a second for another room in the house. Sound is really good, i have one driving a pair of q acoustics 3020s and the other is powering a monitor audio ceiling speaker in the bathroom. All of my sonos zones (i have five now) are hard wired to my home network so i rarely use the wireless functionailty of the system. Performance in my setup is flawless. I listen to cds ripped as apple lossless files on a nas drive, spotify and also internet radio (bbc6music, radio 2, 5 live and also local stations). Quality is good across the board, radio is weakest as you would expect but still good. Group any number of zones or play different stuff in each and have total control from your phone. What’s not to like?sonos regularly update their software, all free of charge. Their customar support is also excellent, should you need to use it, and there are excellent forums on the sonos website.

A great no nonsense product, great sound and easy to set up.

Great and simple piece of music technology.

Works as expected with other sonos equipment. Very pricey for what it does though, compared to other sonos equipment.

I bought one of these just over a year ago and yesterday sonos announced apple homekit support for their speakers. But on trying to use it with the connect:amp, it turns out it doesn’t support homekit. I asked sonos why and they gave me a canned response about software architecture limitations on older devices but as you can see, this is part of their current product line-up. They have just decided not to continue updating this with new features. I work in software development and can tell you that’s a sign that they’ll be phasing this product out very soon and you should not invest in one.

      • You just have to hand it to sonos, they make very high quality products that really work well. My third unit, and i will buy more.

Fantastic quality item, great sound and great ability to link to other items. We have sonos play 1 and play 3 and also have built in speakers using the connect amp to link them. We hope soon to add a sound bar to our sonos family.

I had a pair of q acoustics speakers fed by an onkyo mini system and a turntable. I bought one of these so we could stream from nas to the speakers, as well as listen to the turntable on the other sonos speaker in the house. Set up was simple, just wire the speakers via the connect amp, use the sonos app to choose the right input, and anything playing via the onkyo system is available on our sonos speakers, and the qacoustic speakers became an extension of the sonon system – perfect. One star deducted for the cost though.

    • I have connected my turntable to it so can now listen to my vinyl anywhere (or everywhere) in the house. Like all sonos kit, it is expensive, but nothing out there is as good or can compare for quality, ease of set up and convenience.

I have a dedicated sonos set up (playbar, sub, play1’s etc. ), and a separate high end hifi (arcam, proac, mission). I was hoping my baby mission speakers, or even my proac speakers could be driven by this and give an almost indistinguishable performance. Unfortunately i was disappointed and had to send back. My high end hifi speakers sounded worse than the sonos speakers. So you are better off getting the sonos speakers. . Or using the connect (no amp) to send music to your hifi amp for your high end speakers. The in built amplifier is just not good enough. The connect is pretty expensive way to “airplay” your music to your hifi. A chromecast, apple tv, or even headphone connection to your phone into your existing amplifier will do the trick – but you will need the connect to “go sonos”.

      • Very easy to use with almost all streaming providers including your own music library. You will be able to by better hi-fi equipment, but with a pair of decent laudspeakers, the sound is approved.
