Roberts R-Line R100 Smart Radio Wireless Speaker System : Stunning quality and design.

Superb unit from roberts – a very capable performer. I really won’t be able to say enough good things about this roberts all-singing, all-dancing player, i’m delighted with it. I plugged it in, ran through a brief bit of setup and within minutes i was listening to dab radio, streaming radio stations over the internet, playing music from my nas drive media server, and also selecting and playing music via my wife’s iphone app (using the free undok app available from the app store – note that undok is available only for apple & android devices, i’m unsure if a similar compatible app is available for windows mobile). First things first, it sounds great – much bigger than its dimensions would lead you to believe it’s capable of. It’s not quite hi-fi quality, but its volume fills a large room with ease and there’s a good amount of bass and mid-range in the stereo mix to please most people (there’s also an equaliser if you want to tweak the sound settings). I would describe the overall sound as both ‘warm’ and ‘mellow’ – rather than something which is going to trouble your hearing. It also looks pretty good too – better in fact than the pictures here on amazon make out. It looks less ‘plasticky’ in the flesh, having a nice metallic grill outer. The display is very clear and works well – though it’s not touch-screen. All the various controls are laid out clearly on the top of the unit.

For about an hour this morning initial impressions are good, i really like this radio. Having only got to use the radio for about an hour this morning initial impressions are good, i really like this radio. I was unsure about the white and grey, i’m not usually a fan of bright radios but it looks far better than the pictures can show and the leather strap feels strong, it doesn’t look or feel of bad quality. Overall the radio build quality is excellent. It’s easy to set up, download the undock app and you can set it up from your android or iphone. There could be more buttons on the radio but i suspect the majority of people will control it from their smart phone, a dedicated remote would have been nice for people who do not have or want to use a smart phone to use the radio. Sound quality is pretty decent for a radio of it’s size. It’s clear and warm and i’m not expecting hifi quality from a small radio. But it is surprisingly good. I wasn’t expecting it to sound as good as it does to be honest.

I wanted this for ages having read a review in a newspaper which described it as the best kitchen radio ever. I’ve stored my favourite internet radio stations by category, i can play podcasts on it and spotify (not through bluetooth on my phone so doesn’t effect battery life). I can play content through bluetooth as well (eg podcasts not available online). Phone can be used as a remote too with the undok app.

Note: optional battery pack not actually released yet – due end august 2016. Prospective buyers expecting to be able to use this with the advertised optional battery pack might like to note the following response from roberts radio support on 12 august 2016:”thanks for your enquiry. The battery pack has not yet actually been released to the market but is due at the end of august. Best regardscustomer account managerroberts radio technical”.

  • For use as a single speaker or part of a multi-room system
  • DAB/DAB+/FM/Internet radio
  • Stereo speaker with Wi-Fi & Bluetooth connectivity to stream from your PC or smartphone
  • Full colour display and on-device control
  • Can be used as either a left or right speaker in a stereo set-up

This replaced my old roberts dab which has been going strong for over 12 years and still is. A massive step up in sound quality of functionality, a breeze to set up and the internet radio works brilliantly. Waiting for the roberts sound bar to be released to compliment.

Beautiftul sound and loads of extras. . If you are after a simple and standard dab radio player without whistles and bows then this radio is not for you and i would suggest the roberts radio rambler. However, if you want all the whistles and bows then the r100 radio is for you. It is a nicely shaped chunk of radio with a little bit of weight behind it. The colourful screen is clear and easy to read and allows you to set up and control the radio (can also be done with a phone app). You can connect this to your home hub and have the luxury of streaming music from your spotify account by using the app on your phone you can just send music to it. You can also have internet radio and use it as a big extension of your phone speaker. The sound is clear and has a decent amount of bass. If you are not happy with the sound, then there is also an equaliser built in so you can change it to suit your needs. Initial set-up to get going was fairly easy with a wizard guiding you through each step.

Radio function fill up all the speciation with a nice design and build quality. The r100 in design and the radio function fill up all the speciation with a nice design and build quality , very easy to use and very nice display with plenty of functions, spotify is a plus. A touchscreen should be better but is not important, but the down side is the sound quality, the fells like the speakers inside have very low quality, the bass is hard and the highs very sticky. I connected the radio via 3. 5 audio jack to another speaker and the soundcard have very good sound this way, better speakers kan make this radio fantastic. No battery included for his price fells not good too.

Great sound and easy to use.

It looks really smart and is easy to navigate through the different menus. I have mainly just used it for radio but i think i will start using spotify through it more and more. The sound quality is good and it sounds like a big sound system not a small radio. I am very pleased with this item.

Roberts hit a home run with the r-line r100. I had the pleasure of testing the r-line r100 that was sent to me by amazon uk. Setting the r100 up was a breeze, in fact i did this in a couple of minutes without even using the instruction manual. The build quality and design touches are very cool too, with a nice combination of modern looks and that classic brown handle. The audio quality is impressive too, with plenty of detail, volume and bass (thanks to the bass port on the base). There are too many features to detail here, so check out my video review for full details.

Stunning quality and design. . Fantastic sound quality and the ease of use is well thought out. The added option of passing your own music on your phone to the radio via wifi is a great touch. And the fact you can change tracks etc from your phone at the other side of the room when chilling is a great feature. Yes definitely a well thought out internet radio.

A genuine contender from roberts [ see updates . Having used this radio for a few days now i will most definitely not be going back to my previous roberts as this is a cracking piece of kit. Styling is most un-roberts like with only the carry handle being made of attractive tan leather. It’s quite a wide and weighty item styled more like a speaker, probably no accident that it resembles the sonos devices. The ariel disappears nicely into the radio body which is a good idea for when moving around. Setup is very straight forward for the vaguely technical. It scans for dab stations and connects to your wi-fi router which if wps enabled as most are these days (e. The default display is text based but clear, informative and easy to read. ]
