It was easy to install and the wireless sub-woofer is a nice. Pros:for a bar of that price range it is unbeatable. It renders sounds for both lower and higher frequencies very well and works very well also at lower/normal volume for both movies/series and news channels. It was easy to install and the wireless sub-woofer is a nice addition and reasonably easy to synchronize with the base unit. The remote doesn’t have an unnecessary amount of options and choices. The sound bar looks good, it’s not too small nor to big and fits perfectly under a 50″-55″ tv. Cons:hdmi connectors on the back of the sound bar were a little difficult of access/install. The sky box for the uk market interferes with the start of the unit. Subwoofer could be a little more responsive at lower volumes even at maximum bass settings. Could have made the most important + and – volume buttons on the remote a little larger/more obvious.
Which i hoped would interact with the tv easily, but i could not find one of a. Trying to match a soundbar to my late model panasonic plasma took me to several dead ends. Especially with the panasonic range, which i hoped would interact with the tv easily, but i could not find one of a suitable quality and value. The good reviews for the philips htl5140b finally made my mind up and was just inside the budget i had set for this accessory. Amazon’s delivery was amazing. Ordered sunday morning, delivered within 24 hours. You have to be careful screwing the unit together. The screws are tiny and could cross-thread (small flat-head screwdriver required), but with care it went together in a couple of minutes. I used the hdmi arc socket and hoped the soundbar and the tv would relate. No problems there, i went into the panasonic self-testing menu and it recognised the soundbar as a home cinema system.
Good sound, but sync issues. Fantastic sound boost to my already very acceptable 2013 philips 55″ 7000 series. Easy to install – i went with an optical output – but perfect audio/video synchronisation is proving tricky, despite having adjustment settings on both the bar and on my tv. Also, the bar comes in three parts; these are easy enough to assemble, but only the centre part has screw holes for wall mounting. This means that if, as i did, you choose to mount it on the wall beneath your tv, the left and right sections ‘droop’ very slightly. A design oversight there, philips.
Having in the past spent a lot of money on 5. 1 systems, amps, speakers and so on. Despite the incredible sound provided by those, there is the issue with wires, speakers and god knows what everywhere. Having down sized recently, i decided to reduce the clutter but didn’t want to lose sound quality, or limit the lack in some way. Thankfully, this speaker system does just that. It sounds great, much, much better than expected. Yes it’s only stereo, but the sound is precise and solid. The build is actually really good and what’s more it’s very easy to set up and has some really nice features, plus it’s slim – although wide. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a good quality, decent, solid sound, with few cables – certainly no more than you have already and is easy to use.

This is a fantastic product. We eventually had to return it as the lip syncing with our philips uhd television didn’t work properly. After speaking with very helpful people from philips, they suggested that we return it and try another one. Having said all that, the sound is excellent and it’s a very well made quality product at a great price.
Superb soundbar – on par with the sonos. What can i say – i read the what hifi review about the htl5140b after listening to the sonos playbar and realised i just didn’t want to spend £600 on a soundbar – this soundbar is remarkably close to the sonos in my opinion , the virtual surround sound isn’t great ( the sonos is very good in this respect) – i use it hooked up via optical to my tv which then has a sky hd box and an apple tv4 and a ps4 attached to it, music sounds loud and the bass can be turned right up if needed, voice is clear when watching television and movies, games sound superb – star wars battlefront is superb on this soundbar i highly recommend it, well worth the £175 i spent on it .
Brought with this : http://www. Uk/gp/product/b00204ie20?ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_18 as my tv is now out of date, and now i’ve got used to how they both work, i wouldn’t be without them, for my sky + or pc.
