Panasonic SCHTB8EBK 3D Compatible 80W 2ch Soundbar : Good quality sound

For the money this was excellent value. I did not expect the highest quality. For the money this was excellent value. I did not expect the highest quality (you have to spend a lot for that ) but the sound, particularly of speech is a huge improvement over the inbuilt tv speakers which are compromised for space in the modern sets. The remote is small but works very well. I am a happy owner of this soundbar.

Decent sound, great budget price, but accept the cons too. A bit of a hasty purchase as happened to see one on offer in the supermarket and needed something desperately as the tv speakers (sony bravia) were deteriorating to such an extent that dvds were too quiet and speech was very distorted at higher volumes (especially women’s strangely). Anyway a quick summary -pros –good sound, a vast improvement-radio music / mp3s etc via ipod etc sound excellent (so far connected via bluetooth but will also try with the audio cable / jack lead when it arrives on order)-easy to set up, pretty much plug and play (but remember the extra cables that don’t come with it – either red/white audio or optical) – i’m using the optical connection-amazing budget price-good it has main controls on the unit (as well as the remote) (but not the surround or voice clear options)-although it shouldn’t be possible apparently with the set up of my tv i’ve got it so that the sound comes out of both the soundbar and the tv speakers (not either/or) with both controllable independently – this is useful as i can use a balance between the two and still control part of the ambient volume from the tv remote (see below). Cons (these are relatively minor but nevertheless frustrating and may make you wish to consider a superior model) –it’s quite big and obscures the tv controls such that i’ve had to raise the tv on a large book (don’t know why they don’t make more of these things with flat tops so you can simply place them under the tv)-the indicator lights (on the top) are not visible from a seating position in front of the tv (i’ve artificially tilted mine so i can see the indicators for surround/clear voice etc (it’s not obvious just from listening)-no hdmi connection – this is only a problem in so much as i understand hdmi gives more flexibility in terms of things like sharing remote controllers-no apparent way to use the tv remote to control the soundbar volume (i now have about 5 remotes – doh.- and had not assumed this would be the case) would be interested if anyone finds success using one of those harmony universal remote thingies.

Great buy works perfect and looks good, it came really really quickly and was so easy to set up.

“Poor sound on Panasonic televisions, For the money this was excellent value. I did not expect the highest quality , Decent sound, great budget price, but accept the cons too, Improves the sound but not hugely. Worth having though., absolute bargain from top seller, Good quality sound”

Excellent well pleased sound is fantastic.

The perfect match for my tv. . Great product, the two settings for surround and clear speech are just perfect. The sound is so much clearer with this sound bar than that of the panasonic tv it’s linked to. (i used an optical cable 2 metres at £6. 95)there was no option for a wall mounted bracket, which would of been great.

Improves the sound but not hugely. Better than the integral speakers on my panasonic tv, but not by that much. Yet another remote control for the sofa to swallow. There’s no substitute for a proper home cinema set-up. Having some top-end hearing loss these are a help to me though.

An okay piece of kit, sound was good. I had to purchase a digital audio cable to get it to work with my television, the volume had to be worked by another remote, so that was me up to three remotes to work a television.
    • Poor sound on panasonic televisions. Greatly improves the sound of my very expensive panasonic tv, it should not be necessary to spend this extra money, it should have been built in.

So duly installed and it does what they say and gives you a fuller richer sound with some bass, just like the sound you used to get on the last generation of not-quite-so-slim televisions. So i now have a sleek skinny television with a fat long soundbar sitting in front of it talking up a lot of space which i can’t really afford on my limited shelving. Further, i have had to prop the television up on a one inch thick block of wood because the soundbar obscured the sensors on the bottom of the television, so that the remote wouldn’t work – unless i stood up to operate it, which rather negates the point of having a remote. At least i no longer have to put with the shallow, weedy sound that my new tx-32a400b television produces, but am i alone in wondering what the point of all this is?. If ever there was a triumph of form over function this is it. Tv manufacturers are now selling products which are deeply flawed; all that matters apparently is that they look pretty. Oh, and i now have another remote to play with because the volume is now controlled through the soundbar. So that’s one for the tv, one for the soundbar and one for the dvd recorder.
