Panasonic SC-HTB880EBK 500W Soundbar – Viera disappointing

Great soundbar from panasonic & much better than having speakers. Great soundbar from panasonic & much better than having speakers round the room with all the wires. Have only a small room so this is perfect. Good sound & good bass, very rarely have full bass on cause don’t want to frighten the neighbours. Given it 4 stars because no screws to fix wall bracket on wall. Came with the bracket so thought it a bit tight of them. First time with a soundbar, its not brilliant 5. 1 surround sound, if i had a bigger room then maybe i would invest in a good system but i think this is perfect for the smaller room. Don’t really use it for music as have couple of sonos speakers.

The price you would think it’s going to be good, but have to say its beaten my own. For the price you would think it’s going to be good, but have to say its beaten my own expectations, i use it everyday with my panasonic tv.

Panasonic sc-ht880ebk soundbar with wireless sub. . This would have got 5 stars if only the so called 3d surround feature actually worked. This is a great piece of kit, it has a very clear sound, speech is easy to hear and understand. It also has a decent amount of bass from the simple wireless sub. It has plenty of features for setting up the sound to how you like it, and is especially usefull as it comes on when you turn your tv on and goes off when you turn your tv off, great. But unfortunately the so called 3d surround is almost totally non existent. Stereo is pretty good, even music sounds pretty good through it. If you want surround sound though you’d probably be better off going for the sony ht rt5 instead. My only other gripe is that the connections to the soundbar are fiddly, particularly if you have expensive hdmi cables with big plugs and stiff cable. Generally though it is a great soundbar, particularly if you have it sitting on the top of a unit in front of your tv firing upwards, siting it this way gives the best sound because it sounds like it is coming from the tv instead of underneath it, which can be the case with some soundbars, they sound detached, this doesn’t.

I really expected all – singing, all- dancing integration with and enhancement of my new panasonic tv, but my joy is limited by the clunky interface, and 10 second delay in the sound starting when switching input devices.

Love this soundbar & matches my tv width perfectly. Also using it to listen to music from my mobilewhilst not a cheap soundbar i think it is worth paying a little extra for something with better quality than the lower endsoundbars. A few words of caution though, you’ll need to buy cables to plug into your tv as they don’t come with. Also the remote is a tiny diddly thing and easy to loose which i did within a week. If you do loose the remote you can easily order a replacement from somewhere like partsmaster (i ordered two – one replacement for the lost one and one spare).
