For the money, i don’t think you can buy better. When buying speakers, it’s always an idea to get the ones with the best frequency response. These have the best in this price range.

“Super little boxes, Night and day in comparison to satellite speakers for music, Bang for your buck”

Very powerful speakers ideal for tv sound systems.

Excellent sound from a very small speaker.

Excellent sound from a very small speaker.

Good enough for most purposes. Out of the box, very disappointing, but after afew days burning in, much better. Mid range presence is very clean and balanced – gives a very precise sound stage. Don’t expect deep bass, but down to 50hz is good enough for most purposes. If these speakers are weak, its at the top end. I added a pair of cheap piezo tweeters.

I gave these a punt after sending back a set of smaller bookshelf speakers that were disappointing. I needed something smaller than my jpw ml-510s which pack some punch, but were way too big for what i needed them for. After much hunting, i found these at a price i was able to justify. I had hope that they would be good as the woofer size is the same as the jpws. I set them up side by side with the jpws and i was immediately impressed. They do sound a bit smaller/boxy but barely noticeable. I cranked the volume and they just kept on coping. To be honest i think my ears would break before i hit a volume that causes them to distort. To say i am happy is an understatement.

Top quality sound at a budget price.

Night and day in comparison to satellite speakers for music. I bought the matching center that goes with these to replace some sony satellite speakers i have in my 5. 1 setup (with a old trusty sony str-db780 receiver) to improve the systems performance with music. I also, got along with these, a pair of mordaunt short m10 standmount speakers, and all i can say is, especially these mr1s, they sound absolutely incredible for music. There is a much warmer midrange sound, and i was simply not getting this before. They also look the part, for sure. I can’t really reccomend these enough, i only had to pay £80 for mine, but i think even if i had paid the rrp of £100, i’d be perfectly happy because again like the entire monitor audio reference series, these seem to be built way above their price point and sound fantastic.

Very decent speakers specially for this price. I am still running them in but you can already hear that they are very balanced, with quite nice resolution and stereo image, perfect for a small room or rear speakers in a surround set up. If they improve after some usage maybe i add the missing star.

I had these in my wish list at £99 for a while, they popped down to £79 and i just went for it and i am glad i did. They compare very favorably to my main tannoy speakers, especially now that they are starting to run in a bit. They need good cables to get the best from them and i am running them with the supplied bass port plugs in as i have them closer to a wall than i would like and there is no loss of bass, it is just less boomy. As a spare room set up with my oldy but goldy marantz pm66 se ki sig, running mainly a vinyl set up, again old but refurbed pioneer pl112d table plus audio technika at95e cartridge, they are a perfect match. I also think they could work well in a much larger room than i have without any issues. If you are short of space, even at £99 as they are now they are a steal.

Brilliant excellent sound love them :-).

Tried them out initially with a stereo amplifier and was surprised by the depth of the sound, good bass for small bookshelf speakers and treble is very clear. Currently using them as surround speakers in a 7. 1 surround sound system and work great especially when mounted the wall.

Brilliant little bookshelfs. At first i found the bass to be a boomy but now they’re worn in the bass has tightened up and and the bass is controlled, punchy and pretty impressive for such small cabinets. Treble is bright and clear and the mid-range is clear and precise. Don’t expect a high-end finish but for this end of the market these speakers are well built and sound outstanding.

Bought these to replace the front surrounds as i already had the monitor audio centre speakerthe sound on these are really good, the bass is really punchy too. Sometimes i turn off my bk audio sub and it sounds just as good. Going to buy another pair for the rear soon.
