Monitor Audio MASS 5 : Probably the best “compact” upgrade

Probably the best ‘compact’ upgrade. I upgraded my tannoy sfx with these, my room is around 4. 5 meters so an average size room. They are obviously bigger than the tannoy’s but not too big, i would say for my size room wall mounted they look ok, any bigger and they would look too big. Personally though i feel they would look better on shelves which is what i’ll do in the future. The speakers do look the business with brushed metal caps on either end of the satellites and quality connectors. The satellites are weighty with a solid feel and each one is ported. The sub is big but not huge as some reviews around the web suggest. Its heavy and solid which i like and the power light is on the top, red off green on i like that so you can easily see which state it’s in.

Got great reviews and now i know why. Got great reviews and now i know why. Looks great but most importantly the sound is fabulous – right, deep, just right on the bass, and just as good for tv or music – or spoken word.

Simply, a incredible 5. 1 system. . I am really impressed with this system. 1 systems and this has been by far the best. The positives are as follows; amazing satellite performance from tiny speakers, producing amazing highs and respectable mids making music and male vocalists sound incredible. The subwoofer has an awesome design, like the satellites. The woofer produces incredible low notes, due to the dual design with a radiator, that physically shakes the woofer to make it feel as if the room is shaking, and the cone delivering insane low notes. I have not been able to make this set distort. Negatives; satellites are large if you want a small system, however they look very stylish. Thinks to note: you need room for this system, it will be on show, and you need to design round it. It’s very modern and sounds incredible. You can remove the back and sides from the woofer to see the drivers in action. You can install a remote cable to the sub, if you need to, however it doesn’t need one. Subwoofer can be changed to 3 different modes, impact, music and movie. Here are the specifications for the Monitor Audio MASS 5:

  • Ultra-compact 5.1 channel home cinema speaker system
  • Satellites: 1-inch C-CAM® and a 4-inch C-CAM mid-bass driver
  • Power handling @ 100Hz crossover: 100w per channel
  • Wall and stand mount ready (dedicated stands available separately)
  • Subwoofer: 10″ 220W DSP controlled Class D amplifier

Amazing immersive sound, great looks. . These look great (especially when couple with the speaker stands). I have mine set up with the sony 1040 av receiver and i am blown away when watching films. They are great with music too (despite what the purists say), and playing ps3 games is so immersive it gets the pulse going.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Simply, a incredible 5.1 System.
  • AMAZING immersive sound, great looks.
  • Probably the best “compact” upgrade
  • Got great reviews and now I know why
