M-Audio AV32 | Compact Active Desktop Reference Monitor Speakers : for the price you cant go wrong

Amazingly power speakers for how small they are. . Bought these to replace some low frequency cheap logitech speakers that had started to crackle after 3 years of use. Pretty easy to set up i have to say. Just attach the speakers with the two wires so the right and left work together then plug it in to power and then plug into your device (mine was a gaming desktop). About above 10%volume the bass really shows depth wise, amazing. It can really stretch its legsthese speakers are epic if your playing battlefield 1, a grenade really feels and sounds like its going off next to you (the floor shakes from the bass)awesome.

Brilliant for casual and non pro studios. Provide true clarity and are great to listen on and mix on for small unprofessional studios or home. They go bloody loud, and i have actually not been able to go louder than half way because of how loud they can go and the room i use them in and neighbours.

Excellent monitors for the price. Excellent monitors for the price. Sturdy and with great sound quality, invest in a set of speaker stands to get the most out of them. If you’re keen on a high level of audio fidelity it makes a big difference if these are set up correctly according to the instructions. If you’re just looking for a set of good, unobtrusive speakers you can’t go wrong. If they’re for desktop use remember that they’re quite large. If your desk is small consider speaker stands or a wall mount to free up the desk space, prevent obstructions to the sound and get the most out of the high quality audio.

Just fine for the job intended. Lets be honest… your not going to get audiophile quality sound from two tiny speakers which cost just £69, it just isn’t going to happen. The m-audio av32’s are excellent desktop speakers which replace the crappy ones built into most pc’s. These speakers do just fine for the job intended and considering they have an amplifier in the “master speaker”, they are good value for money. I have listed the good and not so good features below:good:well made – solid constructionhave understated good looksgreat stereo separationfor the price: good soundfit well on a desktopgood value for moneynot so good – from an audiophiles point of view:somewhat “muddy” bassmidrange sound (voices) could be bettertrebble a bit thin on the groundif you want a better sound than the av32’s provide – you will have to pay much more money.

Expected too much from them, sound is ok for low levels and small rooms, anything larger like a living room, they just aren’t effective. For desktop speakers tho, they are very good, just lack a bit of bass on low volume.

Ok speakers for general use, but not for music production. These are ok speakers for gaming and general use, but they are not suitable for music production. They’re smaller than i expected and don’t really pack the punch at the lower end.

For the price you cant go wrong. Brilliant set of affordable desk monitors that will greatly improve your play back of music, a massive upgrade from standard ‘pc speakers’im not an audiophile but these sound better once they have been broken in by playing music at a decent volume for a couple of days.

The people in these comments are stupid, people moaning about how these are blowing up, these speaker are build well but for not playing for like dj. Myself i do play loud and bass music but be careful.

Having previously owned the av40’s i was somewhat disappointed with av42’s. Having previously owned the av40’s i was somewhat disappointed with av42’s. The newer module may go down 75 hz which gives some deeper base than it’s predecessor, but the overall sound is muddier and less clear. The top end also has less zing and refinement. The build quality is not as good as the av40’s and the overall listening experience is just not as enjoyable. Another minor gripe i found was the speakers picked up interference from my router which was located close to the left speaker. This was resolved by relocating the router a few feet away from the speaker. I would say the av42’s are step back from that av40’s, which is a shame.

Boom that i used in my room (a very good portable speaker i might add). I was looking for a pair of speakers to replace the ue boom that i used in my room (a very good portable speaker i might add). These have filled the role perfectly. The sound quality is simply amazing and suits the size of my room perfectly. The bass is just right for listening to music at night and going to sleep as it isn’t obnoxious in the slightest and compliments the overall sound of the speaker. Adding a chromecast audio has allowed me to hook these up to the rest of my sound systems in the house and that was a simple task. Definitely a sound alternative to an expensive sonus or bose sound system.

It says for multimedia, but i’ve plugged in my record player and the quality of sound is fantastic. Well-packaged and delivered in smashing (as in good, not broken) condition.

I wasn’t too sure about these at first i was using normal stereo speakers through a stereo digtal amplifier for my mac before these. The sound from the speakers was ok, but i wouldn’t say it was great. Anyway when i plugged these av32’s in and stuck on a track i had recorded on logic pro x. I was shocked the sound was crystal clear, and i was well chuffed with the outcome. Volume great as well, just what i needed for recording at a good price and rapid delivery. No more rubbish sound or crackles.

Was expecting cheapo computer speakers – really suprised by the quality. At this price point you won’t get perfect reference speakers, so you just have to go with the sound you like. I have focal cms65s in my studio and they cost a fair bit more than this, but i swear these get pretty close. I was pretty blown away by the sound without any eqing. The rca ports in the back and 1/8th inch ports (in and headphone out) are well thought out, and the volume control is in a sensible easy to adjust location. My one niggle is that the on/off switch is on the back, which is a pain in the *** when they are set up next to my lcd. Great for computer, movie, gaming use, and perfectly acceptable for daw composing and mixing, though would need care for mastering use. These would be ideal for anyone who is playing around with synths and just wants to plug-in and start playing.

A great pair of speakers at a good price.  i bought these as an upgrade to my logitech ls21 speakers. I’m a bit of a tech guy and i just wanted better sound with compact speakers. These definitely do not disappoint. They sound absolutely incredible compared to those old desktop speakers. Build quality is impressive, these feel incredibly well made. Sound quality in general is very good, when i first got them i put on the star wars soundtrack to test the highs and lows and wow it was like being in a cinema. Bass is a little heavy as pointed out in other reviews but nothing too distracting at all. Attached is a full video review, you can see more of my reviews on youtube channel jacksgadgetsi’m considering buying a second pair of these to hook up to my tv.

I bought these speakers to connect to my turntable and they’re literally so good. The speakers can reach a very loud max volume and already have good bass levels. Would definitely recommend these to anyone.(and they’re quite small which is another bonus).

I had spent a while with some poor pc speakers connected to my workstation and needed something. I had spent a while with some poor pc speakers connected to my workstation and needed something better for sound mixing, i picked these up with a focusrite scarlett solo i/o device and some rca cables. First impressions weren’t amazing as even though they were a small improvement it felt similar to my older setup. After a couple of days though the system improved tenfold and i can now say that these are a great buy. The extra detail heard really helps to give me an honest representation of what has been recorded and mixing audio for video releases has become easier. Not only that but i have been even watching youtube videos and listening to mp3’s on the system as it is that pleasurable to listen to. So basically a decent all rounder after it has been broken in and can be connected up to pretty much everything.

The music making guy told me that some monitors would make my logitech speakers sound like a pile of crackling humming junk – ob. Speaker are just speakers right?. Well that’s what i thought before purchasing these – coming up from an older logitech x5500 system which i always thought was the top of the top for my pc system. (wrong there tom lad)one of the guys from work is into music production and generally making pinky and perky trashing a pan factory type music, having moved my computer to a smaller room i complained about the x5500’s taking too much space. The music making guy told me that some monitors would make my logitech speakers sound like a pile of crackling humming junk – obviously offended i told him that pinky and perky are rubbish and carried on my merry way. The seed though had been sown and after some consideration i decided to give some other speakers a go (for the record the x5500’s do actually hum when turned off and at low volume) – much research on the internet followed and i eventually borrowed a set of yamaha monitors running though a focusrite 2×2. The sound was as clear as beautiful still spring water, absolutely perfect clarity and reproduction – only thing letting them down was the eye watering cost to purchase similar (over £500 per speaker)more looking on amazon and i came across the m-audio av42’s – the cost was right on the money for what i wanted to pay. I compared loads of alternatives but the reviews on independent websites always pointed to the m-audio being the best of the bunch.

Combined with an external dac it’s like my ears are 30 years younger. . I’ve been trying to give 5 stars less often recently. I often think that for the money it’s worth the 5 stars but the product isn’t really a 5 star product in terms of quality, just great value for money. Although there are better monitor speakers out there these do enough to still get 5 stars, tempered a little with value for money. First of all these are smaller than i thought they would be. The next point i should make is i’ve connected these to my computer via an external dac (a lindy usb one at about £40). Using the on-board sound chip on my £80 gigabyte motherboard would limit the quality of the sound and not give a true reflection of the capability of the speakers. I’ve then played music of various styles through itunes to get an idea of the sound. My impression of the sound is that it is miles ahead of any pc speakers i have had before providing a much richer sound and the ability to project the sound further into the room. You can hear the difference between very high quality tracks that were bought recently, or were ripped from my cd and tracks i ripped from cds many years ago.
