Libratone Zipp Mini Copenhagen Edition tooth Wireless Speaker : Great looking, great sounding, great build quality.

Fantastic sound quality at all frequencies. What fantastic sound quality from this speaker. The speaker only took minutes to set up and we were listening to the radio within 15 minutes of unpacking the speaker from the box. We have this located in the kitchen to listen to the radio and tunes from our iphones/ ipad. The sound quality is really superb and the libratone gives the options of different sound patterns depending on the music genre/ personal preference/ location of speaker. We have listened to a variety of music genres and they all sound perfect. The frequencies are split so that the ear can easily decipher the various sounds in the composition to maximise the musical effect. As music lovers this really makes a difference. We have tried the speaker with spotify, itunes and the libratone app and it is so easy to use. I do think that this speaker is overpriced though – hence the loss of one star.

The app is lacking, but the speaker is outstanding. . I’m going to review this piece of kit in two parts: the speaker and the app. I would expect it to have support for dlna built in; i thought that the spotify logo meant it could handle that too, but in fact the app can only be used to: a. Set the volume or sound quality; b. Set internet radio favourites c. Most importantly connect to the speaker by bluetooth to set the link to the wifi up. It will not connect to a music library or spotify or onedrive music etc. However if all you use the app for is to link the speaker and then get a decent upnp app like bubbleupnp (free/£2. 99) you can then ignore it and use the speaker itself, which is a whole different experience. The sound quality is astonishing for a portable battery powered speaker whether by playing to it over the wifi, or by bluetooth, or by 3.

Sleek and stylish with easy set up. Beautifully presented and i love the 360 sound provision. This comes in a wonderful box with the singing bird logo. Inside there are circular instructions, plus information about the different coloured sleeves, in the lid and the box also contains 2 charger leads with 3 pin or 2 pin plugs so we could take it away to enjoy music in european self catering cottages plus a heavy metal cord/cable holder. The setting up process was easy on my huawei android phone and acer laptop but not easy on a windows phone and surprisingly difficult on an older ipad. Have tried spotify, radio stations and audible books, all have sounded good, for me, but i must admit to not being an expert and the unit looks stylish with the sleek silver and soft grey.

This speaker is absolutely superb, no doubt about it. I have been using it every single day i’ve had it and i seriously can’t think of anything wrong with it. Firstly, packaging – it comes in a very elegant black cylinder package, with a fantastic unboxing experience. You take the lid off and you have the stylish charger (if a charger could be stylish, they have done it), tips, and the manuals. Manual is very easy to follow and make sure you follow it just so you set up the zipp properly. Secondly, the speaker design – it is one of those speakers you can use for portable use (i only use in my house and garden, wouldn’t recommend using for beach outings or anything as it isn’t dust or waterproof) or as a main speaker for your lounge. This is due to it having a really compact design (for the tech inside and sound output) but also could be a really stylish centre piece to your room. If you have a certain colour scheme in your house or end up changing your room colour, the zipp (name gives it away) allows you to swap the cover to lots of different styles and colours to fit any colour scheme by un-zipping it. I have the grey one, and feel the grey is quite neutral and would suit any home, but the option of changing the colour and style is a really nice touch that a lot of people will appreciate i am sure.

Don’t think i’ve ever unboxed anything so beautiful and exciting as this libratone speaker, even more impressive than any of the apple products that i’ve got. This kind of looks like a champagne bottle when you first open it, and then when you take the ‘neck’ off the lid there are just layer after layer of goodies and accessories and leaflets. It really gave that luxury feeling. The speaker was already charged when i got it out of the box which was brilliant, and it immediately went into pairing mode. Just one tap on my phone connected them, and then i was playing my music – so easy to use, and the sound is absolutely incredible. Honestly, i’ve never had a speaker that plays in 360 degrees, and it’s such a unique feature that i really love. I first listened to tubular bells by mike oldfield, an absolute classic, which is what i always listen to when trying out new audio equipment. Every single note was crystal clear, and there were parts that i think i had never really heard properly before, all ringing out true on the zipp beautifully. The compatibility is really easy, not just because it connects with bluetooth really easily, and i love that you can use spotify and other music apps just as easily.

A portable speaker that packs a punch with bass and volume. The libratone zipp is an amazing sounding portable speaker. It’s got plenty of bass for a reasonably small speaker but also gives vivid and clear natural sounds at higher frequencies, especially voices. It’s capable of delivering a fair level of volume too, and achieves that without any noticeable distortion. Battery life between charges is also excellent. Connection via bluetooth is very simple and i’ve had no problems at all from a number of devices (tablets, kindle fire, laptop pc). Connecting via wi-fi gives much better range around the house than the bluetooth link, but it’s less straightforward and i had to use internet-found instructions to get it done. The instruction booklet that comes with the speaker has some minimal instructions for bluetooth etc (which don’t need to be that detailed as it’s so easy) but virtually nothing on wi-fi. One tiny issue is that the speaker seems to cut out occasionally if near anything with a strong electrical or magnetic field (guitar amps etc) as i guess they activate the switch to pause tracks playing, so occasionally you need to reposition away from problem areas. Overall: a high performing and nice looking portable speaker that packs a punch with bass and volume but without lowering tone quality.

The main benefit and attraction of the libratone zipp mini speaker is that it’s a portable wireless speaker of course, but when you’re relying on apps, wifi and bluetooth to set it up, you should be prepared for it being complicated and for things not to run terribly smoothly with your home setup. I’d also lower expectations as to how good sound you are going to get from this speaker, as it’s not as good as you might reasonably expect from a wireless speaker with a high-end price point and five-speaker driver specs. To get the libraphone up and running for a start, you’re going to need an iphone or an android device. When i tried to install the app from the playstore on my android asus tablet, it informed me that my system wasn’t compatible with the current version of the app, and offered no alternative. If you have other device options fair enough. If you don’t, you’re going to come unstuck at the first hurdle. I was able to download the app onto my android smartphone and followed the instructions, but was unable to make a connection to my home wifi. Every time it attempted to select and auto connect to the speaker, it dropped my 2g channel connection, leaving me with no internet to complete the operation. Manual connection was no better, just returning me to a loop of the ‘speaker found’ screen with choice of auto or manual connection.

I am struggling to express in words how this product makes me feel. I like to show them off to my friends and family. Check this out, look at what it can do. I would be embarrassed to say “i spent £200 odd on this”. It’s not that this is a bad speaker. The sound quality and loudness are fairly decent. It’s just that this feels so over-engineered. You could always simply connect to it with bluetooth or using a 3. 5mm audio cableare able to control. Libratone have made a special app though, through which you can control the speaker, things such as volume.

The sound clarity is first class, controls simple and easy to use. All the advertised features worked first time, great product bit a bit pricey.

Stylish, sturdy, easy to use and excellent audio quality. Really happy i spent much more than i normally do on a portable speaker. Audio quality – really impressive. I was obviously expecting this with the price i paid for it and also the size of the speaker. The clarity is second to none. Clear and crisp high frequencies and a warm, deep mid range. If i was going to be overly critical, the bass could be a little better, but it is something that most people would be more than happy with. Build quality / design – bit different to most speakers in the market. The shape allows a 360 sound which is really important for me. It is fairly bulky and heavy, but i like this, feels valuable and doesn’t move when playing at high volumes ( which a lot of speakers do ).

Great looking, great sounding, great build quality. . I bought this zipp mini instead of a regular bluetooth speaker due to the internet radio functionality. The long battery life and ability to save 6 preset stations make it great for taking into the garden, garage etc. Stations can be accessed without the need for s smart device. The app is free and easy to use. As well as station presets you can adjust the eq of the speaker to suit it’s positioning. The speaker looks awesome and feels like a really solid build. Every detail is considered right down to the packaging. Small things like a cable weight for the charger to prevent it falling down the back of a table was a great touch. It sounds great, clarity in the highs with rich warm bass for a speaker this size.

Not cheap and am not too chirpy about it. . I use wireless speakers in various parts of my house (mission aero and cam audio minx 100/200). While this libratone doesn’t quite have the power and presence of those above it certainly punches above its weight as far as sound performance goes. It’s very light and portable however it seems to have a mind of its own with respect to bluetooth connection. This might be my laptop but its sitting right next to it right now with no sign of pairing even though the computer says its connected. I expect i’ll have to shut down the latter and reboot as that’s happened several times to date. Rather frustratingly there is nothing in the skimpy manual to tell you what’s going on and the limited speaker display is equally uncommunicative. When it does connect it seems to remain stable ok. There is the usual drop off in sound as compared to airplay but as soon as i connected using the latter the drop out was intolerable-probably because i’m a level up stairs from the virgin hub-your speaker will only be as good as your wireless signal strength. Its got a very prominent zip (rather than hide it they name the speaker after it) which means you can swap the ‘pepper black’’ cover for an alternative option—to my mind it looks more like washed out black sock which if you remove reveals cheapish plastic look. All in all great sound for the size—unless the website can supply a more detailed manual its rather a puzzle to figure out what the speaker is doing—e. Makes various chirpy noises and muted vibrations when you follow the instructions for pairing with nothing to tell you what that means—bizarre design then so jury is out-but i can’t give it more than 3 stars after a two week work out.

Ideal for technophobes to play amazon ‘my music’ from the desktop pc that doesn’t have bluetooth facilities. The libratone zipp copenhagen edition bluetooth wireless speaker produces an amazingly good quality, 360 degree sound. It is portable so one is able to experience great quality sound whatever room one is in at home. I shan’t go into the specs of this amazing speaker as other far more knowledgeable reviewers have already done so; my review might possibly be of use to those (like me ) of an older generation who appreciate good sound quality but do not use their mobile phone very often and do not have bluetooth facilities on their desktop pc. I purchased from amazon the’ whitelabel bluetooth 4. 0 usb dongle adapter for pc with ivt bluesoliel, bluetooth transmitter and receiver for windows 10 / 8. 1 / 8 / 7 / vista – plug and play on win 7 and above’ for £7. 99 so now i can play my lists of music i have downloaded and stored with amazon on my pc. The ‘plug-in-and-play’ process is so simple that even i was able to do it; so whether ‘zippy’ – as i have christened him – is sitting on the island in the kitchen or perched on the conservatory windowsill i can enjoy my favourite music, sounding at its best. Apart from that, zippy looks great and is the most innovative product i’ve used for a long, long time.

There are better speakers for the price. ======edit : it has been nearly a week since i wrote the review below, and my opinions about the zipp mini are starting to shift. I still stand by what i said, and my four star rating still stands. My review describes the first few weeks of ownership. But i am going to add comments to my review if anything significant comes up. One significant change is that i am now seriously tempted to buy a second zipp mini. ======the zipp mini copenhagen edition arrives in a fabulous black and white box with silver trim. It looks like it might contain an expensive bottle of champagne. On the outside it says nothing about android. It has plenty of logos but you get a strong impression it only works with apple devices.

Wonderful sound quality, high degree of customisation. Relatively minimal instructions. . This zipp speaker is an amazing device, an internet radio, a fantastic quality (bluetooth) speaker and a charging device all in one. The styling is visually attractive and practical too with a sturdy integral carry strap. It requires an iphone or android smartphone to operate, along with an internet connection. The zipp arrives packaged in a drum with the circular instruction on top and both uk and european chargers underneath. The 3 pin uk plug base fits on to a universal adapter. There is a zip around the speaker’s wool cover – mine is a neutral grey marl, but no instructions on removing or changing the cover. Instructions overall are minimal – they could perhaps be a little clearer as my set up process didn’t quite follow the expected format.

Not perfect, but still very special. . First off, this looks great. And as others have said, it comes packaged stylishly also. It really does feel like an event to open, and it is a real pleasure to use, with lovely tactility and some fantastic on-off sounds. Compared to similarly priced speakers from bose or sony, this is just in a different class. I find myself sometimes judging its sonic performance harshly because it feels like it ought to cost 2-3 times as much. Even saying which, it does have a really nice sound. The treble and midrange are particularly sweet, and encourage listening at quite modest volumes for the sheer musicality of the experience, rather than at screaming rock levels. It does trip up a bit with particularly dense, bass heavy, mixes, sometimes becoming muddy and confused, and losing depth. This seems to be independent of volume, and appears to be a feature of the design, rather than limitation of the power or amplification.

It is the most i have ever spent on a treat for myself but it is worth every penny. It is so elegant, unique and just generally beautiful to look at and use. It is basically a small surround sound speaker. Wherever i am in my flat i can still hear my music perfectly. The sound is just out of this world, i have honestly never heard anything like it. I am not very technical and don’t understand all the numbers on the box (i. 3” neodynium woofer/ 60 watt total power, across 2 dsp enhanced amplifier channels/ 19v 1.

Beautiful network and bluetooth speaker. . This is a beautifully presented and packaged product. This beauty and careful consideration for materials continues to the speaker itself. The speaker comes within an outer, double-fluted, brown cardboard box with foam packing top and bottom. Inside is a black and white tube, made from heavy duty box board, contains the speaker. Opening the box and tube is an exciting experience. The way you lift out the instructions, power pack layer and then the speaker have all been carefully considered and makes the opening of it reinforce that you have a high quality product. Inside the lid you are greeted by a round manual which matches the diameter of the tube. The manual is in five languages with simple icon-based instructions.

Only used using windows 10 based systemsetting this up at the begining was a tiny nightmare. It is really geared towards apple products. I couldnt get anything out of it for hours. Tried my wifes galaxy tablet and teh app wouldnt download saying it wasnt compatible, and teh only way i could get it to work on my windows 10 laptop was by casting one song at a time, or queing songs in a list which was a pain. Then about a week later, i changed one thing in teh setup and suddenly it starting working with media player and the internet correctly. If i had purchased this i would have probably have sent it back before i had managed to set this up how i wanted, as it was a real head scratcher and the manual was no help and teh webiste very little help. Anyway, when finaly up and running teh sound is great, clear, and balanced. And will go loud, but not overly loud, which some will like, and other not so. It doesnt break up at all and as i say for the money its a clarity i would expect however it lacked bass without an equalizer.

Decent quality speaker, portable, and loud. I like this idea of taking a speaker to any location you want, its extremely heavy so probadly not good for carting around in your backpack for long but useful for the car. I can listen to things down stairs in my living room and then take it to the bedroom and plug my phone and internet radio etc in via bluetooth or wifi though i found the blue tooth the best method as its very easy to set up but the wifi i couldn’t get working after several attempts at trying to find the speaker etc hence only 4 stars. The sound quality is pretty decent clear highs and good decent bass for a single speaker this size. It dosen’t vibrate due to the rubber base. Its also pretty loud if you want to pump up the volume a bit. The usb socket lets you charge a phone especially if your listening to a lot of music on the go. Had it on an hour so far no need to re charge the speaker yet. You can of course just leave it plugged in to the mains if your at home for instance. Because of the aux 1/8 inch socket you can plug your laptop, phone, or anything else in.
