LG SJ8 4 – A decent soundbar.

There is nothing negative to write about this bar for the price. Connected to the tv and just works, sounds an awfully lot better than the tv by itself. It fills the room (lounge/dinner) easily with sound, the only minor quibble is there is some distortion at high volumes on some frequencies but adjusting the mode usually sorts that out.

Perfectly compliments my lg 55 c7. Being of such slim design it is amazing that the sound quality is so excellent. Set-up is straightforward, wireless sub very effective. The remote is ok and gives easy access to the wealth of different settings available. Music streaming from a tablet is easy via bluetooth and although hardly studio quality, is still very pleasing on the ear. I have attached it to the tv with the dedicated t8 bracket, which whilst not cheap, provides an elegant solution and a very sturdy stand. I find it hard to believe that the 1 star reviews are of the same model.

Problem with lip sync however.

Excellent product, the sound is amazing, especially for the money. It works very well if you have an lg tv too.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • A decent soundbar.
  • Looks slick, not loud!
  • some sound bars even the very expensive ones look poor, however the LG SJ8 looks and sounds fantastic

Neat ,as it sits under my curved lg curved oled 55inch. I endorse a read comment that stated that the volume is, generally ,never over- whelming.

Looked around before purchasing this sound bar ,some sound bars even the very expensive ones look poor, however the lg sj8 looks and sounds fantastic,it was easy to set up to the tv , and if you are watching a film or a music concert the sound quality is brilliant.

Excellent sound and looks good.

Not as many sound functions as i woukd like and the sound isn’t the best. Looks slick and really blends in with the tv as i use the intergral stand.

Good sound bar at reasonable price.

It was come with 2 days earlier :).

I bought this in conjunction with an lg c7. I actually got a price match with a lesser known site at richer sounds, but it appears amazon has now brought the price down too. The sound quality far exceeds that of the tv’s in built speakers (obviously) but, from time to time, i seem to notice a lack clarity when listening to music e. Difficult to make out some parts of the song that i know are there; most notably lyrics. Having said that, it’s not really noticeable when watching regular tv/films, which have been positively transformed by the bump in bass and mid levels. One feature i really like is in built chromecast, which obviously means streaming music is a doddle. I’ll just caveat that by saying though it works seamlessly almost all of the time, it does have the occasional blip where i can’t seem to connect. No worse than my other chromecast devices though, so i’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. Another feature i like is that the sub is wireless (bar the power plug) and it doesn’t appear to suffer from any connection issues at all.

One thought on “LG SJ8 4 – A decent soundbar.

  1. With some content (netflix, iplayer) dialogue, particularly the start of a sentence, is clipped. One-word utterances are often missing altogether. Tried multiple apps on multiple devices and the problem persists. Spent hours tweaking settings on tv/source and sound bar to no avail. It’s an absolute joke i have to fall back to tv speakers when i have a £300+ sound bar connected. If it wasn’t for that fact that it seems to work fine with blu-rays (which is primarily what i bought it for) it would be going back. Setting that major issue aside, you can get a decent sound out of the hardware after adjusting the sub/bass/treble levels. The separation between left and right is ok (but not a patch on 5. The sub is wireless, but i’m not particularly sure why as it’s meant to go at the front of the room close to the sound bar where you’re going to be routing cables anyway.

Sounds worse than the tv speakers. Don’t buy unless you want to waste your money.
