JBL Boost TV Ultra-Compact Wireless Home Cinema Speaker System, Portable, easy to set up and a good sound

With my phone it was very good. With my tv which is just a flat screen type but a small one, it improved the sound considerably. It increased the volume and made it sound much less ‘tinny’i cannot comment on how it would work with a super new large tv – as i do not have one.

Great sound improvement over my sony’s onboard speakers.

I needed a small speaker to put on my kitchen shelf under my 32′ sony bravia. I looked at sound bases and bars but could get one small enough to fit. I had sought of accepted that i was going to have to sacrifice quality sound for my kitchen. Then i stumbled across this. After tons of research on it i was still unsure. There were some proper audiophiles having their ten pence worth and finding faults left right and centre. In the end i hit ‘add to basket’ and waited for my what i thought would be a tinny, bass less, brash sound enhancer. The day arrived, i connected it up via the optics lead and proceeded to play suicide squad on the tv. I was dumbstruck by the sound. For something so small i was flabbergasted by the quality it throws out. Deep rich tones filled my kitchen. Then i fired up spotify and connected via bluetooth. Wow streaming music was even better.

Comments from buyers

“Easy to connect up – note i had not connected , Even the virtual surround sound is fantastic. I also have 2 of the smaller JBL , A treat for your ears.”

Portable, easy to set up and a good sound. This arrived well packaged and with all the cables i needed…. Including, to my pleasent surprise, an optical lead and 3. Firstly, my televisions existing speakers are fairly poor – so this small cinema speaker system was a welcome addition. I found the set up and connection was relatively easy and the sound quality a clear improvement on my existing set up. The bluetooth connection to my ipod was seamless, with an excellent sound. I am sure there are top end alternatives that perform to an unbelievable quality – but for the price, i was certainly happy with the sound this unit provided.

Easy to connect up – note i had not connected. Very compact – doesnt look cheap. Easy to connect up – note i had not connected anything via the optical cable before and could not understand why it would not connect in the hole until i realised the plastic bits on the end where packaging which you have to remove first. The instructions could be better – they are just pictures. I had to look up on the internet for better instructions on setup of syncing remote controls for the tv. Once setup im happy to say the quality of the speaker is good, you can turn it up quiet loud and responds to deep bass on movies will for a tiny unit. This is a good product if you want to simply boost the power of your tv speakers.

I considered which star to give this for a while, and as close as i am to a 4 it didn’t quite hit the mark. First off construction is ok, there were no obvious issues however it just feels a bit cheap in hand. The speaker is as the title suggests very compact. You get a small remote which i found fiddly and uncomfortable as it needs a good bit of pressure to register the push. There are plenty of connection you can use 3. Optical is the proffered solution as it offers the best quality. I was not overly impressed by this. I think if you were travelling or needed the portability then it’s anot appropriate solution however there are much better sound bars for the same or less money. Yamaha do a really good budget one. The sound is bass heavy and whilst vocals and treble do come through it all becomes a bit muddy at times. That said the sound is better than most budget tvs but if you have a mid range or above the sound from your tv will likely trade easy punches, if not win over this.

The musical side is not fully convince, but to the function for which it is born takes full 5 stars.  hello friends today in testing a product, to integrate your tv and not only that, i have been slow to publish the review, because first i wanted to get a clear picture of the product, functions, and especially the quality of the emitted. Good visionpackaging: ?????almost complete, but cmq deserves full marks are inside:>the tv boost>modular power supply with socket italian and english>optical cable not too long including>3. 5mm pin jack cable not plated short time>remote control already supplied batteries (we just take off the safety tab that protects the contacts of the same to make it work)>manual, minimal and no italian language :-(————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–quality / materials: ????the side of the plastic sound bar, are shiny and it seems not very high quality, however, they give a nice effect to the eye, while the main building, all-metal (covered with a textured nylon at a very pleasant honeycomb) leaves a good feed assembly and robustness. Excellent also the part of the upper buttons, rubberized but very solid and functional. On the bottom we have another rubber insert, large which does not allow the soundbar to move and have an excellent grip (i like the coloring that detaches on black, orange as jbl brand)————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–functions: ????the use and operation is simple, we have it connected via optical cable for most of the test time (as well as the video demonstration), as soon as we feed the top button is acende in stand-by mode. Speaking of buttons we have the possibility to set different function (identical contained on the remote), which>on and off>key to set up the connection bluetooth>button to emphasize in dolby surround sound effect made it or disable it>dedicated button to connect wirelessly to any other speakers jbl (only those of jbl are compatible with this function)>+ and – keys to raise and lower the volume>key to swichare from what source the soundbar should take the sound source, if we connected either via the tv thread that previously a bluetooth device (the example in the video to make you clear the operation). ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–performance: ?????we tested (plus video demonstration) for several days both for listening to film both for music listening, the 5 stars are deserved, especially compared to the performance and price. . It must be said that on the music side shows the weaknesses in the most obvious way, but what about the use for which it was conceived, listening to film, it’s really nice, so much so that, although we can not compare it to un’impianto home 5. 1, the performance and perception (especially when we emphasize the part dolby sourrround with the key) it is phenomenal. In conclusion if you do not want to spend so much on un’impianto full dolby, cmq remains obviously superior, and above all to integrate your tv, speakers a listen that begins to make sense, this jbl is seriously worth considering. ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–liked: ?minimalist and compact appearancequality and volume emitted mainly in the vision of the filmsalmost complete setmaterialsi did not like: ?the side plasticthe listening limits of musical reproductions————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–p. I’m not someone who professes to be an expert in speakers but i think i can judge a decent sound quality from a rubbish one. This system is a compact sound bar designed to boost the sound from your tv – and also working as a bluetooth speaker using a simple switching system. It’s fairly foolproof to set up though one thing i found slightly disappointing was the fact that it’s only mains supplied. I think i would personally pay a little more to have the connectivity and portability of a rechargeable unit – which would make moving it about it use outdoors for example a lot easier. Getting back to the sound – the sound is decent and better than the speakers on our panasonic tv but i don’t think this will replace a proper surround sound system. In fact i prefer to use it with the bluetooth capability to listen to music from my iphone. There are more expensive systems out there and i think this is a decent offering from a well regarded brand. The spec is fairly basic but it achieves what it sets out to do- can see this being great for watching movies at home – not quite a cinema effect but good enough.

Excellent sound as a bluetooth speaker, rich, deep and loud but disappointingly underdelivers for tv sound. Harman’s portfolio of legendary audio brands includes akg®, harman kardon®, infinity®, jbl®, lexicon®, mark levinson®and revel®, so with this credibility this jbl boost speaker steps up to the mark. Let me explain, i like to think i have an ear for a decent sound and can be quite fussy. In bluetooth mode my ipad music library burst to life as this jbl beauty boomed not just a very decent volume but with deep sound, bass and rich clear mid and top range – it sounds pretty good. Impressive across adele, rn’b, rock, mor and classical it does it all very well, and that’s up against my faved bose soundlink mini. . This is heavily promoted as a boost for your tv speaker, a sound bar that promises:’jbl display surround technology creates surround-like effects” home theater tv. Elevate your television sound experience with jbl boost tv’s deep bass, virtual surround sound and dolby digital for hd movies’but for me it doesn’t deliver this at all when connected to your tv. In fact it does do what it says on the tin and ‘boosts’ your volume, it does that fine, yes the dialect sounds clearer, but ‘surround sound’ and ‘immersive room filling’ – i am afraid not.

Even the virtual surround sound is fantastic. I also have 2 of the smaller jbl. Dont bother with any other makes. Even the virtual surround sound is fantastic. I also have 2 of the smaller jbl charge units which i linked together.

This is a powerful and fairly small speaker. In the box you get the cables that you might want to use: i am pleased that it comes with these. Setup is a breeze, and the handy remote control is a useful feature. I have it connected to my tv using the optical cable, and it really is a great boost to it. The sound is clear, and while the bass is not as heavy as i’d occasionally like, that is to be expected — bass can only ever be properly provided by a separate speaker. Everything was superbly packaged up, and the speaker itself is attractive. A great addition to the aural armoury.

Very good, highly portable, great quality wireless speaker. I’m not a big audiophile but it’s good to have decent sound from the tv particularly when watching a big movie or streaming music and for me this speaker delivers. Music playback in particular, is very good. It’s also very well made- excellent quality in fact- is a neat size, looks good and is easy to set up. The bluetooth function is really useful too for connecting devices and other speakers to it. The sound quality for me, personally, is more than good enough and one of the things i like about a speaker like this, is it’s portability. It’s easy to transport around if you are going somewhere where you want a sound facility/system pumped up a bit. You get a small remote with the speaker which is handy and the whole package is great.
