JAM Audio Rhythm Wireless Wi-Fi Speaker w/ Amazon Alexa Voice – They work but require some fiddling

Really clear, nice amount of bass. Really impressive for such a small package. App is fairly easy to use, set up is fairly simple. Can’t wait to buy more of them and network the house with them.

I am very happy with the jam symphony. I ordered the symphony addition to compliment the rhythm speakers that i ordered previously. I have the symphony set up in the family room, rythym 1 in the kitchen and rhythm 2 in the foyer. It fills the house with sound. I will purchase another rythym for the master bathit works well and the sound quality is good. The one issue that i have is the set-up. To set the speakers up isn’t an easy task. The instructions must be followed exactly and requires many attempts. If one small step is missed. It’s a do over from scratch.

Great speaker but have to use ipad to use it. Instructions tell you to press jam button on top of speaker to talk to alexa but there is no button and no other instruction.

I bought two and they are amazing and really good value, i would recommend buying them.

Excellent speakers and great service.

The rhythm is quite small and unobtrusive but in a medium size room it packs a punch. After a few days of use i found that whilst adequate at lower volumes it comes into its own above 50%. It might not produce the same quality of sound as sonos but it is still a great sound.

  • Great value and sound but a bit clunky interface
  • Good but hopefully will be made better with firmware upgrades
  • Good sound but app/Wi-Fi unreliable.

Most people reading this will want to know how this compares to sonos, so i’m gonna use that as a baseline. I bought 1 symphony and 2 rhythms at the same time. The sound quality is good, but lacks the depth of sound or punch of a sonos. But the sound is very good nevertheless, the sound can be turned up quite high, enough for a small party using 1 symphony. Turning the volume all the way up does give some distortion, around 90% of the slider was the most i could go. The one thing that lets this down, compared to the sonos, is the user interface. For example one small but massive potential improvement would be to have a list of favourite stations on tunein. You can save 4 pre-sets on the device and select the using the 4 buttons on the top (which also shows up on the app) but having more saved on the app would be a great help. Spotify is controlled through the spotify app itself, you will find that your speakers appear as a device on the spotify app. Having everything controlled within the jam app would be better in my opinion, rather than switching around.

Good build quality nice sound.

Been looking for a multi room speaker system for a while all too expensive this was perfect price and a brilliant speaker i bought 2 lounge and upstairs to try it so pleased with it now going for a third to complete the system. The tone and clarity is really good and product well made it takes minutes to establish.

The speaker delivers such a high quality sound it beggars belief. The loudness is fantastic bass and treble excellent. This may well be the best value for money product i’ve bought in a very long time. Setup is easy/ just to clarify since i’ve given a glowing review – i don’t work for amazon or the seller.

I love this speaker its very easy to set up via the app and the sound quality is excellent.

Works best with hifi cast app. Underrated speaker with good bass and midrange. High instruments are not separated enough for classical music. Goes loud from mobile phone.

I have had some connecting problems to my laptop( but that’s due to my lack of understanding) this speaker sounds fabulous.

This is a great speaker, ideal for any large room. It has great bass and vocals are crisp and clear. If you are looking for a wifi speaker this is ideal. I have tried other wifi speakers before but this jam audio symphony speaker has blown me away by the power behind it.

Just love this, i don’t have to put my pc on to listen to the music i like, sound quality is great and i can use my phone to change channels volume etc. So happy i found this it is used every day, never fails to connect to the wifi either unlike some.

Easy to set up and use – very nice product. My only criticism is that a nas cannot be connected via the app (ie homebased server with music), otherwise i would of given 5*.

This is a fantastic speaker.

Built-in Amazon Alexa Control.

Buttons on the top could do with being more visible as i have it placed under a shelf and it’s difficult to see.

Took a few attempts to set up, but works great when you do finally get it going. Only gripe is you need to load the app on a smart phone if you want to talk to alexa through the speaker. There is no button on the speaker itself to do this which is annoying. Sound quality is not bad considering the cost of this speaker. You can stream different music if set up in a different room or you can use this as a speaker rather than alexa. Cheaper option to have multiple speakers in multiple rooms. If you want to play music from amazon music you will need to upgrade your music plan on amazon.

Have had this speaker about a week now and find it to be a really decent speaker for the money. I paid £60 and the only thing that to me could improve this is having bluetooth as well as wireless , would make it easier to connect some devices. Otherwise full rich sound ,good audio range etc.

Good value used it for 9 months so far and really happy.

Easy to setup and sound quality is great. The app is not that great with limited features but does the job.

Needed a soundbar in my room but this little gem caught my eye instead.

Room filling 2.1 stereo sound, perfect for mid-sized rooms and syncs with multiple speakers.

Great, better than sonos, but not so nice looking.

Best wi-fi speakers for this money.

Got 2 of these symphony speakers for £95 over easter. Multiroom sync, grouping & assignment to l/r stereo. Now trying to run from tv optical out dac l/r analogue with volume control to jam aux in. A very versatile product of which i will purchasing more of.

Excellent sound for the money. Really pleased with these speakers (i bought 2). The app can be a bit glitchy but generally ok. I easy pair with the other rhythm and a voice depending on the combinations i want. I would seriously recommend these speakers if you want a cost effective but good sounding wireless music system.

This speaker is great value add for my living room. It has been 2 months since i bought it. I use it mainly for spotify and very happy with this product.

What i like most is that i have to communicate with the speaker via my ipad or phone. I had speakers that did all sorts of things that i didn’t ask it to do, because it was speak directly to the speaker. Now i press a button on the app to talk to alexa and it only does what i want, it can’t pick things up inadvertently. They are also fabulous speakers too.

It wasn’t as good as i thought it would be but for the money the sound is ok. Would feel pretty annoyed though if i had paid the rrp of £150, definitely not worth that. One word of caution, echo equipment only works if hardwired to the speaker as this has no bluetooth connection.

Control all of your JAM Wi-Fi speakers from your smartphone or tablet using the free JAM Wi-Fi App.

These jam speakers seriously need work done on them, then they would be very good speakers, the app is very very poor and not at all user friendly, the point of being able to use alexa devices is not having to press anything for it to answer a question etc, just in general to use the device with your voice instead of having to press a microphone button which you also have to keep pressed, as these speakers are new technology they should be able to connect to either a 2. 0 wireless connection, not just the older 2. 4 ones, also i am hoping that in the future that these can be paired up with any other speakers etc using alexa, i tried to use my spotify through the awful app and it said premium only, also the app on a smartphone did not update the firmware but when i tried the app on the ipad it updated the firmware, but even though the speaker had connected the app didn’t and would not even let me restart the it from the beginning again, on the other hand the sound quality sounds very clear so hopefully jam will listen to the feedback from us customers feedback to make these a very good product plus they are wireless also other than having to plug in a power adapter which has also been made wrongly in my opinion instead of it moving forward 2 more times this would not be an obstruction for another plug plugged into a device to be used in a socket unlike this one that is because of the pins facing the bottom instead of the top on the uk plug setting so the body blocks off a socket in a multi adapter because of it being designed poorly.

Having used sonos for a while i cannot see any difference of the sound quality. I’ve wanted to connect something to my google home mini for better sound. Just plug a bluetooth transmitter on the back of the speaker and ask google to connect to it. Perfect for streaming free spotify, connect to my tv and my phone music library.

It’s not portable, you must have a premium spotify account to stream itthe sound is good and can be loud. The app has a basic graphic design, but works. I’m disappointed by the fact it’s not portable. One last point to amazon – why haven’t you sent an eu plug to portugal?.

Product purchased as a christmas gift, to pair up with an existing one my son already has, he is happy with his current speaker and hopefully this new one will also please him.

I now have 2 of these and sympony model. I am not a musical aficionado and have no baseline but it seems brilliant to me. I read lots of reviews before buying and really cannot complain.

Stream your favorite music or use the built in Intercom: Use the JAM App to talk through your speakers; One Touch Music: Access all your presets with the touch of a button.

Spot on just as shown and quickly delivered recommended.

All i can say is its amazing great sound well made easy to connect to and easy to group speakers, ideal if you are not a fan of wires every where.

Superb sound – as good as my daughter’s sonos speaker.

Excellent product, very reasonably priced.

My personal experience of this speaker is not fantastic overall. Amazon alexa relies on a button and operates through an non intuitive app that needs to be downloaded to operate this produce effectively. In addition i was unable to connect this to some wireless networks. Sound quality is good and i would image you could achieve a good setup if you are prepared to master the clunky application and unreliable connection. For me personally, it was too frustrating, so i diverted it as a present to someone else.

They work well together but sometimes require a reboot to connect to the wifi router. The app is very basic and not up to the standard of a usual apple app.

Sound quality was excellent, good bass and plenty of volume. The main problem was that the connection to the wi-fi would drop every so often. Now of course this could be a problem with my wi-fi but i don’t have any issues with other devices. Also the speaker would randomly turn on and play music on its own, like 3am one morning it started playing music in the kitchen giving me a helluva fright had to return in the end, just too many strange unreliable things happening. Shame as it’s a decent sounding speaker. Im going to look for a speaker with a lan port next.

  2. The sound from this speaker is immense for price. Extremely loud and bassy with a good quality sound. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end. For starters it’s a wifi only speaker, no bluetooth. This wouldn’t be a problem if the wifi connectivity was simple but it isn’t. Took me a good 10 mins or so to connect to it which was very frustrating. When i finally had it up and running i suddenly realised that i could only use their dedicated app to play and control music unless i a subscription to a paid streaming service (which i do not)the app is terrible, why i can’t just use the music player of my choosing from my phone is beyond me. Almost every other song would pause halfway through and then completely stop. I’d have to re-open the app and press play again or choose another track. Needless to say i returned it although i would have definitely kept it had it had bluetooth.

    • Got gifted this for christmas, it’s so complicated for a speaker. Have to download an app to play anything, if your wifi is rubbish or disconnects a lot i wouldn’t bother as it can’t work without wifi. It won’t play music off my iphone apple music, and i haven’t got spotify. It’s barmy that a modern speaker doesn’t even have bluetooth so can’t just connect and play, such a hassle.

    • Bought this expecting to be able to use voice control via echo devices. You have to press buttons via the app to get it to work which is a step backwards.

  7. Firstly i really liked the hardware for these speakers. They look nice and have good sound. My plan was to augment the limited alexa show speaker, with some good speakers, all linked to alexa so i could turn my kitchen into a discothe problem is software. The major issue is alexa integration and what these speakers could and could not do. I could get some alexa features to work but the main feature that i wanted “multiroom”, does not work. This is not the speakers fault, this comes down to amazon and their restrictions on the alexa multiroom feature. Unfortunately only some amazon speakers work with alexa multiroom. You can still get a multiroom effect by pairing two of these jam speakers together but it is not the same as alexa multiroom, which is a great concept ruined by amazon’s commercial decision (i suspect it is a commercial decision because i cannot see how it would be technical). The real shame is that by limiting alexa multiroom to amazon speakers they really harm a great potential solution as amazon speakers cannot be allocated to left and right stereo channels (like the jam), and also if you have multiple alexa speakers then they are all going to answer you when ever you say alexa (scary). You can mute all but one but then you are paying the premium for an alexa speaker and removing why you are paying the premium ( the alexa voice interaction).

We have had a few wireless speakers and they all have their own problems, however, you get over them. But this just doesn’t stay connected to wifi. You have to keep resetting it and then reinstalling the app.

Nice sound when they work, terrible alexa integration, frequently just stops or stutters. Contacted jam who casually announced they are discontinued. If you are looking for quality keep looking.

Unless you subscribe to spotify premium this speaker is pretty much useless. The other services are premium also. No itunes and no google music, no bluetooth backup. You can play off your device library but the software is almost purposely not user friendly. Customer service is also crap, slow response to get a snip of the instruction manual which didn’t help. Tunein radio is the only saving grace but not worth the money for the speaker.

      • Easy to use once you work ut that the alexa module isn’t voice controlled fabulous sound easy and stable connectivity and as far as i am concerned outperforms sonos in the audio department by a mile.

    • Muddy sound, even at the cheap price i paid on prime day, and missing aux cable. I just wanted a cheap speaker that i could connect to my dot, but this is disappointing even on that level.
