Mission LX-2 Bookshelf Speaker – Wood – Great detail in the sound

Very nice piece of kit, extremely well packaged and very easy to put together, nice height and look great with my bronze 2’s on, well worth the dosh.

Had missions before, from the argonaut to other bookshelf ones. These lx-2s really deliver for the size and price.

The sound is impressive – clear treble and a deep well controlled bass. Need at least 100 hours to break in. Good match with marantz pm 6005. Very pleased with my purchase and recommend them highly.

Pleased with purchase- thanks.

Sounds great straight out of the box. Pleasantly surprised at how it fills a normal size room. Can’t comment on durability so soon after buying.

Very good price performance speakers! amazing buying experience with amazon!.

  • Superb quality pair of stands.
  • Great bass and good mids for the physical size
  • Outclasses the oppositio

My son says they are excellent.

Had for a few months now can’t fault them very good value for money.

Really nice budget speakers. They replaced some 40 year old wharfedale xp2s in a small studio.

Good solid and compact speakers – links v well with my small denon player.

These speakers are better than twice the price speakers – i know as i’ve been there.

Mission LX Series

Mission LX Series

Mission LX Series

Mission Electronics was founded in 1977 by Farad Azima and was immediately recognised as one of the leaders in the development of acoustic engineering.

Mission quickly became a very popular hi-fi brand and earned an enviable reputation for the design and manufacture.

The Award-Winning Series

For the LX Series, the design has been stripped back to its fundamentals and Mission has focused on producing a range of speakers they are proud of in engineering terms.

We can be even more proud in terms of the enjoyment their owners will experience. These speakers are smart, practical and affordable, sporting a sharp, classic but modern look in keeping with Mission’s customary design focus.

They bring performances to life with all the vibrancy and finesse one expects of Mission speakers.

Advanced Technology and Design

Drive Unit Positioning and Integration

Brute Strength

Advanced Driver Design

High frequency drive units require extremely consistent parts which, together with Mission’s extremely consistent manufacturing, can deliver the performance required.

Given the tiny moving masses involved, one extra micro-drop of high-tech adhesive can destroy the balance of the design, thus affecting sensitivity and frequency response.

For the LX Series, Mission has carefully designed a tweeter with a neodymium magnet for maximum force in a small space, together with a 25mm microfibre dome chosen for its repeat-ability and consistency in manufacture.

It delivers a sweet sounding but incisive upper frequency as required.

Drive Unit Positioning and Integration

In traditional Mission style, the stand-mount LX-1 and LX-2’s tweeter is positioned below the mid/bass drive unit, in order to aid time-alignment.

By placing the treble unit lower than ear level, the path length from the treble unit to the listener is longer than that of the mid/bass unit. As the treble unit dome is physically forward of the mid/bass unit cone, the difference in path length helps to equalise the acoustic distance.

Similarly, the LX-3 and LX-4 floor-standers position the tweeter between the mid/bass drivers in a ‘d’appolito’ configuration, rather than above both drive in conventional fashion.

The three-way LX-5 is optimised by the HF unit being positioned below the mid-range driver and above the bass driver.

Brute Strength

While high performance mid/bass and treble units are the foundation of a great sounding speaker, if the cabinet is not properly reinforced it can be an unruly source of unwanted noise.

Extensive research and development was carried out to ensure internal cabinet robustness, eliminating any unwanted cabinet resonances and vibrations. Using a combination CAD analysis, a lot of experimentation and extensive listening tests the cabinet within each speaker has been braced at key points which means the full frequency range is clear and detailed.

The diagram shows areas of bracing and its effect on the sound. Blue areas show where noise is reduced through cabinet bracing, while red areas highlight where there is sound. As you can see, the sound is emanating from the drivers and not from the cabinet, as it should be.

These speakers are incredible. My old speakers were old sony bookshelfs from the 90s and these are a mind blowing upgrade. So much more bass, much better clarity across the range.

Can’t find anything better in this price range.

Looks the part and sounds the part, from thrash metal, death metal and classical.

Excellent product, these are easy to assemble and look very nice. Note the price is for 2 stands, while it was not clear from the product description. I bought 2 pairs, while thinking i’m only buying 1 pair, yet liked them so decided not to return the extra ones.

Very good speakers for the price. I can see why they came second in ‘what hifi’ 2017’s survey.

I tried these at the same time as the diamond 9. 1s and have to say there is no contest. The deep warm bass is amazing.

AWARD 2017: Best HiFi Speaker Under £1,000 from AVForums

Good build quality, great sound and compliments the rest of our setup.

One top plate not flat, i had to shim slightly to level the speaker. However for the money they look fantastic and a great purchase.

Very well made and sturdy stands for smaller speakers.

Strong, classy looking, quite heavy but not stupidly.

Exactly the sound i wanted, with the look and great build quality.

I would definitely recommend these speakers for the price the look and sound great.

A TRULY MUSICAL PERFORMANCE: Full frequence range for a clear and detailed sound

Fantastic and look fantastic from any angle.

I’ve just received these and they are so impressive for the money. Used on a dedicated vinyl system with a kef sub for a powerful lower-bottom end. Not as ‘forward’ sounding as my b&w floor-standers and much clearer than any missions i’ve had in the past. A very easy, enjoyable listen that doesn’t become tiring at volume.

Arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Assembly was easy and they look really fantastic. Solid, heavy metal material throughout with a really nice matt finish.

Very smooth and stylish speakers, look good and sound good.

This was a present and my son in law was very pleased with them.

A quick note – this is for a pair of stands, not just one, despite the product descriptionbought to accommodate my q acoustics 3010s (the bespoke stands cost £100 compared to these, which cost £59 at time of purchase). They arrive packaged superbly – each component wrapped and sleeved individually in cardboard – and couldn’t be easier or more satisfying to put together. The plates and legs are solid, and the shiny metal floor spikes are beautifully engineered. The cable management is ok – personally i would prefer an exit hole through the base rather than leave a cable trailing across the plate – but aside from that, they are superb. The sound from the speakers is immediately, noticeably better, and of course positioning at ear level when sitting is perfect (they stand at about 60cm). Seriously impressed, glad i opted for these.

Fabulous speakers,a real return to form. Superb sound with excellent bass and clear vocals. The speaker size is compact in height and width but is failrly deep. I have spent a good couple of months trying to decide wether to buy these or not,so glad that i did. For the price these missions are an absolute bargain.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN: 25mm Microfibre Dome Tweeter + 130mm advanced fibre bass driver + Linear Excursion Woofer + Proprietary Cone Material

I got these to sit my wharfdale diamond 220’s on. I got everything out and started to assemble the stands everything went smooth until i got to the floor spikes. One of the spikes would not thread onto its post i tried one of the other spikes and it threaded onto the post fine. I had a look at the threads on the spike that i could not screw down first few cuts were shallow and poor. I’m was lucky i own a tap and die set with the correct tap for the spike. I ran the tap down the spike and then i could thread it on no bothers. I would not normally knock off 2 stars for this but considering the price i would expect better.

I love them can hear so much more in diffrent bits of music. Easy to drive with a amplifier i picked up for £50 second hand. I found positioning is easy i had them pushed up on the back wall, then just pulled them out a bit and was blown away by the bass these can put out. Ideally, you should put them on the stands as they sound so much better, i have them on my computer desk at ear level. I do not have much spacing on my desk but they still sound fantastic. These speakers time well too. Best speakers i have listened to for under £200 wouldhighly recommend.

No improvement on my mx1 mission speakers. Disappointed, expected more. Bass not controlled as well and integration inferior. Not worth replacing, maybe need to spend more.

These sound fantastic, i only have a small room and set them up yesterday, so far i would say i am very very pleased, records sound so much better, they look good, easy to connect, and work great with my old pioneer amp sa540, i almost bought the wharfdale diamond speakers but changed my mind at the last minute, these were cheaper and i like the design more.

Has transformed my surround sound – dialogue clear and crisp for the first time ever.

Sold stands for my monitor audio bronze series bookshelf speakers. It’s unclear/impossible to fill the stands, as per the product description through.

REINFORCED CABINET FOR BRUTE STRENGTH: eliminates any unwanted resonances and vibrations

Make a real difference now my speakers are at a sensible height (previously on the floor). Easy to assemble and all tools required included.

Wow,the sound quality of these speakers is truly superb, the amount of bass is mind blowing, the treble sounds so sweet. Best suited to use with decent floor stands,if placed on a shelf, use rubber isolating feet. For the money, you wont find better.

I bought these for my son – i have audiophile quality ones in our loft – the quality of them is amazing highs and mids are excellent. Slightly subdued bass but £ for buck these are amazing – high quality for low cost.

Excellent sound field c/w consistent response and performance throughout the range. Will purchase mission subwoofer 🔊 during 2018highly recommended.

Great speakers , good bass, cohesive soundtop quality and look good in living room.

Excellent sound, well built, great heritage. Used to own missions growing up. Always second hand, thought i would treat myself to a new pair. Most sellers on ebay wanted collection only. For the price i think these speakers are excellent value. I have a 100 watt amp that powers these.

A cracking pair of speakers at the lower end of the price range. I put them into my conservatory serviced by a 55w p/c technics su7300 amplifier. Great bass and good mids for the physical size, although top end lacking slightly. Performance does improve over a couple of weeks as the speakers bed in. Great value for money speaker.

A great sounding speaker good base black sabbath +zeppelin have come to life brilliant.

These small speakers sound fantastic. They are powered by an old nad 3120 amp and are used to stream high quality music. They sound great and have no problems when the volume is turned up high. The speakers sit on a pair of fisual dynamic uno speaker stands and look really great.

I am using these as a stereo sound powered by my av receiver without the surround sound. I have removed the subwoofer as these two rocks. Looks the business and i like the magnet cover. Could not be happier and definitely recommended.

B&O PLAY by Bang & Olufsen Bang & Olufsen Beoplay P6 Portable Speaker – : This is a fantastic speaker, I highly recommend it.

This isn’t a long review full of technical jargon, i just want to say that i opted (for once) to spend a bit more money & go for a high end speaker after reading other reviews. I wasn’t disappointed, hearing this device is something of a revelation, it’s like hearing your music for the first time, every note is crystal clear, it fills the room with sound and you won’t believe it’s coming from this small box in the corner. The louder the volume the better it gets, it’s fantastic.

Is the priority looking good or sounding good?.

I’ve been buying mini speakers since 2014 and this is the best as far as sound quality is concerned. Absolute clarity at all volume levels and beautiful build to boot. Should have bought a second one for stereo pairing if it wasn’t so expensive.

Lovely, stylish, solid portable speaker by b&o. I really like this speaker but have been mainly using it in my lounge rather than as a portable. It is fairly large for a portable speaker at 170x130x68mm and it’s solid and heavy. I was surprised by how heavy it is. Great for taking to a party but not lightweight in a handbag. As you would expect from b&o the styling is superb – all rounded curves and edges and it’s dust and splash proof (ip54 rating) – so although not waterproof it should survive a shower or a drink spillage. The speaker also has a rubberised base to keep it securely in place. Amazingly for a portable speaker it has up to 16 hours battery life – probably one of its strongest features as a portable. The set up is very simple : it has 5 aluminum buttons along the top : 1. Pairing with your bluetooth device/phone.

  • Aesthetically brilliant, so easy to use esp with the Beoplay App, Sound outstanding
  • Not bad but not great either

Replaced my cheaper bose soundlink color ii with this, but took the time to compare them side-by-side. I mean, look, let’s start with the negative: the beoplay p6 is not advertised as waterproof, whereas the bose one is. That may be a problem for you, if you’re out and about. Sound: the clarity of sound on the b&o model is far superior, and i was already very happy with the bose. The b&o bass response is incredible, and the 360° speaker offering no weak spots that i could casually detect. I use it for small formal outdoor do’s and parties where a little bit of music is required, and this is absolutely perfect. An accompanying app, which you download on to your smartphone, enables you to finesse the quality of the sound into ‘warm’, ‘excited’, ‘relaxed’ and ‘bright’ presets, and you can finetune and save your own presets too. It has a battery level indicator (which is otherwise a bit of a mystery on devices like this), and is all pretty intuitive and easy to use. Design: this speaker is stylish.

Having used the a2 and the bose soundlink mini bluetooth speaker ii – carbon, this is refreshing. Aesthetically brilliant, so easy to use esp with the beoplay smartphone app that gives so much scope for sound control. The sound is amazing esp when you consider the 2 x full range speakers are only 1. 5″ diameter and the 1x woofer only 4″. Clever internal electronics and multiple (3) amps see to that. Note this is mono – despite other reviewer’s claims, but can be paired with another p6 to make stereo. I also noted that the sound is a lot better coming from the non-button side compared to the button side. Worth considering when positioning the unit. Overall sounds is simply excellent, better than a2 marginally and much better than the bose.

Solid build (made it through a swim in a paddling pool). Every time i use it people comment on impressive sound quality. Negatives: app for iphone not great, no wifi connectivity and expensive. With that said, i would give it my highest recommendation.

Fabulous sound – creates the illusion of stereo.

What you are paying for here is design, great sound quality and portability. It is more expensive than an apple homepod, so only consider this speaker if you really do need the portability. Something by apple, amazon, google or sonos is way more functional. Note that you can’t attach this speaker to an echo as there is no line in. You can attach via bluetooth, but that limits functionality. For example, echos drop bluetooth connections for calls and for multi-room. There is no charger in the box, but it does come with a usb cable. If you charge via your pc, you can use the speaker as the pc output too. Charging takes a while, but then the volume and bass you get from this speaker is remarkable. There must be some big batteries in there.

Bang and olufsen – or b&o as they are mostly referred to, have always been near the top end of the audio industry. This being said, despite being at or near the top, they’ve always been more of a lifestyle brand than a professional audio brand – and there is nothing wrong with that – but it does mean, at times, the products have been less impressive to listen to than they are to look at. For me, this was exemplified by the [thankfully now discontinued] b&o 3i headphones. Thye looked amazing, had wonderful design but my word they didn’t sound as good as they should have. Fast forward a number of years and b&o has become more of a consumer brand than ever before. In-fact this new p6 bluetooth speaker is part of a number of products that are far more affordable than b&o products of old, but still aimed to be at the top of their segment. This means that this speaker – and the rest of its line – is going up against the best from bose, bowers and wilkins and vifa – among others – can offer. The good news is that despite the competition i genuinely believe that this p6 bluetooth speaker comes out on top – despite not necessarily having all the features of the competition. With just bluetooth, a few buttons and a power port, this does not have the inputs of some of its competitors. Apple very much forged the way for the death of the 3.

Bang and olufsen are a small european company that often uses anodised aluminium in their products giving them a long life span and i suspect the p6 speaker is no different. On lifting the speaker you can tell immediately that the quality is good (and it should be considering the price) as well as sturdy. It comes well packaged but a little basic with only a manual and usb c charging cable. Although the usb to c charge cable is out there in the open market, it’s not as popular relative to micro usb cables which are standard for many portable devices. This means one more cable to carry around when on the move…. The speaker has a sturdy handle that is fitted sturdily to the top corner of the speaker (which is essential given its weight) where you will find the function buttons. The p6 has a lovely retro look with grilles on both sides and pumps out a whopping 215w of music that will rock your world. Connecting to my iphone was a breeze with a dedicated bluetooth connection button and i could use both siri and answer calls without any issues. I’m pretty sure you can use google assistant too. Calls were crystal clear although oddly quite bassy.

You can certainly hear and feel the quality on this portable speaker from b&o. Opening the box reveals a beautifully crafted speaker with a leather carry handle. Underneath the sponge that holds it there is a usb-c charging cable and a small booklet. I couldn’t resist switching it on straight away, pairing it with my phone was simple and i was immediately streaming music into the room. The sound is as good as you’d expect from b&o and the question of course is how will it handle the higher volumes. You’ll see from the dimensions that this speaker is about the same size as a chunky paperback book, so what kind of power can it produce?. Well, i hadn’t even got to top volume before my kids started to shout at me to turn it down – it packs a punch. I took it outside to see how it would fare for an outside party and was seriously impressed given that it’s a relatively small speaker for that kind of thing. Even better for quieter music on a summer evening. Also a big fan of having a few buttons on the top to adjust volume without digging phone out of pocket or away from the plug if it’s charging.

When i first got interested in hi fi products back in the late 1980s bang & olufsen was the only name i was familiar with. However i did some minimal research with the specalist magazines of the time (some still around) only to find they hardly got a mention in the recommended listings. The prevailing view of the time seemd to be that b & o were primariy concerned with looks and style while other makers had the edge on sound. So i went for the likes of marantz, arcam , mission etc with the result that this is my first experience of a b& 0 product. I have to say i’m impressed by the sound and easy set up, i’ve never been too bothered about looks but there are no complaints in that respect (its only about the size of a large paperback anyway and losing it in my house would be more of an issue than it not fitting in with my decor. ) i played some 50s jazz swing and current americana vocal on- it both have the edge on the libratone mini zipp bluetooth i compared it with –and yes b @ o are more stylish too. Set up was almost immediate out of box–however installing the app was more trouble than it was worth. You get a ridiculous tone feature (to match your mood apparently -i looked for the irritated option but it only had party/morning/excited etc. Apart from the fact that i thought tone control was redundant with the introduction of hi fi–what’s the point of spending all this money on technology if you are going to screw around with it –and in any case a more complicated bass/treble option is all you are getting. It seems then that this is a marketing ploy- not enough to lose a star but given that this is bluetooth only–i.

This is “big”, premium sounds from a very small portable audio speaker. I have been reviewing for amazon for a while and in that time i have tried out a number different, large, room speakers, soundbars, surround (blue tooth) speakers, at one end of the audiophile spectrum and, small, portable, pairable devices, at the other. I have not reviewed all of them, mainly i review the ones which i have been supplied with for review from amazon, although i have to say that in the whole time this was the best device for sound projection, definitely for its size. Also, i love its appearance/design qualities, it is also of a really good build, not that anyone is going to be rough housing with their premium speaker but it wont be wrecked by accidential collision with a house pet either. That said, the lanyard, while it is strong and quality itself, i’m not sure i would trust entirely. Maybe if i were walking along a beach and using this device but even then i’m not sure i would risk drops or falls with this. It is not difficult to set up from unboxing, it works with an app which provides options for tonality and other audio functions. It is a minimalist design, the black colour, with which i was supplied, i think would go well with most home or office decor. It would be perfect for the home or a stylish, corporate office, since it is a premium device. However, i think there is a possibility that while it is handsome, most owners will want to keep this hidden away to listen to their tunes on in private or bring it out at a house party perhaps to show it off.

Good product but lacking bass.

This is a minimalist design portable speaker that exudes quality. Bang and olufsen have excelled in producing devices that combine high fidelity audio reproduction with designs that complement the most stylish of decors and this is no exception. The five flex buttons on the top of the speaker are a design reference by celilie manz to the classic beomaster 6000 stereo receivers that my friends enjoyed in the 1980s when vinyl was the standard and cds were just being developed. The minimalist approach extends to the packaging. The box contains a nicely cushioned surround for the loudspeaker, a usb charging cable and a small quick start guide. Set up is a really simple process of installing the ios or android app, creating a bluetooth connection and playing music. The speaker is offered in a choice of two colours. Black with a black leather strap or a “natural” aluminium with a light brown strap. The choice will depend entirely upon your décor. The app offers many ways to customise the sound.

Many of these kind of speakers are snapped together. Lowest bidder supply chain parts, not so much designed as drawn to fit all those cheap parts in and look vaguely fashionable. This also applies to something i was sent recently from a so-called ‘blue chip’ manufacturer, who shot my expectations down so hard the crater is still smoking. Then this b&o bluetooth speaker came. Talk about renewing the faith. . This speaker is exquisite. Even the small leather loop attached to the side is precision cut from quality hide, and hangs so that it just finishes over the usb-c socket. The cabinet is aluminium, and the bluetooth buttons (standard setup of forward, back, function etc) are not cheap plastic but also precisely engineered aluminium to match the case. One thing i didn’t see mentioned on the blurb is that if you change the speaker from your pc or laptop, it will also act as an extension speaker.

As you’d expect from b&o the sound is awesome. It’s up there with the best, and possibly the bestbut the absolute winner for me is usb charging. As most people probably do, i use these when travelling. And i being able to charge it with the same usb chargers i have for other devices is great. With previous speakers like the dali katch and bose speakers i’ve have had to bring a seperate charger just for the speaker, and this is annoying.

The beoplay p6 is simply unbelievable for a portable bluetooth speaker, both in terms of audio quality and sheer volume. Sound is clean and clear, and i haven’t found it lacking detail in anything i’ve played through it to date. I haven’t felt the need to tweak the audio with the app whatsoever, as it delivers an authentic sound by default. Output is 215w, by comparison my go-to bose soundlink mini 2 kicks out 50w. Close to full blast the p6 makes a mockery of the phrase “room-filling” to describe a competent bluetooth speaker – this thing could comfortably fill an aircraft hangar. Looks-wise the p6 is an acquired taste. With design cues from b&o’s lineage, it has something of a ‘70s vibe overall. It both looks and feels premium. Despite having a beautiful leather strap and being ‘splash and dust resistant’, the weight of the p6 limits its use as a truly portable option. I’d certainly hesitate to have it in a bag i was carrying for any significant length of time.

I’m fortunate enough to own two of bang & olufsen’s previous bluetooth speakers, a beoplay p2 and the hefty beolit 15, so have these to use as a comparison for the newly released p6. In the premium quality box, you’ll find the speaker, a quick start guide, and a good quality rubber coated usb-c charge lead. The speaker easily connects to your device as any other speaker does, but i’d recommend downloading the beoplay app as this will give you some options to customise the sound from the speaker. As expected, the speaker looks and feels the high quality it is. The overall look is very subtle and low key. The aluminium speaker grill is totally solid and i would imagine it will take a considerable knock to put a dent in it. There are five small buttons on the top of the speaker for volume / bluetooth connection and power on/off. The base of the speaker has a rubberised anti-slip coating. I sampled several tracks from pete tong (ibiza classics) and rod stewart (the great american songbook), all at high bit rate from tidal.

I must confess that i am a huge sonos fan and despite the fact that this is a speaker from the great bang & olufsen i didn’t think it could beat the sonos one. Well i am happy to say i am wrong, the beoplay p6 is absolutely fantastic, the sound quality is amazing. Really rich, deep bass that brings your music to life even though the speaker itself is quite small. I have tried a range of music from acoustic to electronic and house. It copes with everything, there is no distortion and you can hear the range of sounds clearly. The speaker never sounds like it is struggling and it can reach a loud volume. For a small speaker it has a lot of power, it is very impressive. I think the sound quality of the beoplay p6 is better than the sonos one. The beoplay p6 is portable, so you can use it in the house, move it between rooms and also take it outside. You can charge it up and have it outside in the garden. The charge lasts for up to 16 hours and you just connect it via a usb cable for re-charging, very simple and easy to use. The design of the speaker is really nice, it is minimal and unobtrusive. I would have preferred a detachable strap but that is just personal opinion. The beoplay app also has a really nice design, it is easily accessible and the simple layout makes it really easy to use.

For a nearly £250 speaker from a world renowned manufacturer i was a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, the sound quality is very good – there is real depth and you can distinctly hear the different layers of sound – but for me it just lacked the warmth and punch from the low end. I own a £40 anker speaker and to be honest there isn’t much difference in the sound, well not enough to justify the extra £200 anyway. I just can’t help feeling that i just paid for the name and (absolutely georgous) design and build quality.

Amazon Certified Refurbished Echo : Great speaker

As a professor in technology, you have to admit google are behind both design and sound quait when it comes to the devices are selling, my only critical would be the microphones need to be either samples or made more so you are talking to it and not having to speak from above. Maybe a centred hidden microphone would resolve the issue.

Bought this 2nd echo for our bedroom, worked well out of the box (well plastic wrapping) as a recon no oem box is provided. Sound is good and works well syncing for same audio in both rooms with our 1st gen echo downstairs. Only once has it woken in the night. So best turned off at night. Coloured sleeve is good preventing it from standing out.

I cannot see any fault in the refurb and cheaper option. Happy with it although it sometimes struggles with my cokney accent.

I got one of these as a combination of a small speaker for my room and with the possibility of adding smart home devices to it in the future. The small unit looks neat, alexa is very responsive and intuitive, the sound quality is great and cohesiveness with spotify is flawless. I’m now going to order two more for my kitchen and living room.

Very easy to set up and we are now enjoying challenging alexa to find all our favourite music. Came beautifully packaged and is just like new.

By far the best smart speaker on the market pound for pound. I paid £55, and for that you can’t grumble. Quality is surprisingly good considering how much smaller it is than the previous gen. Maybe not quite as loud sounding, and to my ears not quite as clear but definitely warmer sounding. The only thing i miss is the rotating wheel on top for volume, i really miss this feature and wish it would come back.

Didn’t think i would love a product so much. The shopping list is a great boon, just tell alexa when you need something added and when you get to the store up pops your list on your phone. Also love her reading me my novels from my kindle whilst i’m doing the dreaded ironing. Of course playing music is great, the to do list is useful too, in fact i could go on all day about this product, how did i ever manage before i bought it.

Ideal for any gift sound quality is excellent and so is alexa.

The first “refurbished” one i received had a very loud and annoying buzz from the speaker but this was very easily sorted through amazon returns. The second one works perfectly. The sound is so much better than the first generation echo – much clearer highs and loads of bass. I used to run my old echo through a bluetooth speaker to get better quality sound but no longer need to with this device. And looks wise it is also a load better than the earlier device. I am really really pleased with my new echo.

Fairly easy set up and a huge selection of skills to play with. Need more time to learn all of it.

Firstly, i cannot fault (or tell the difference) between this and a new one. Though i believe the packaging is different. This comes in a plain box, which is no problem. The echo speaker was immaculate and sounds really great either connected to the internet or by bluetooth. My only reservations are down to the alexa operating system. Initial connection to my wifi network was troublesome. After having to go through the motions several times – and reseting – it eventually connected. I’m not sure if it was due to my internet hub. (i have my internet from bt, and there have been issues in the past.

I’m impressed with the normal 2nd gen echo. At nearly 30% off the normal price this is excellent.

This is my third echo having 2 dots in other rooms and needed one to replace my speakers in the lounge and cautiously opted to go for a refurbished one. It’s quite literally as good as new. Arguably the packaging is actually better than that provided with a new one. Sound is fantastic, better than the speakers it’s replacing and looks great in the lounge too.

I have an amazon echo in my living room, which i use all the time and have come to appreciate greatly, particularly the sound quality and alexa’s assistance :di had my older echo dot in my bedroom and enjoyed it’s use, however, the sound quality isn’t as good as that of the echo :/ further i couldn’t justify the near indulgence of the purchase of another echo for my bedroom, this, however, was completely changed by the opportunity to purchase a refurbished echo :d and at the price doesn’t feel like indulgence at all :dthe refurbished echo arrived today 🙂 and i must comment that, in terms of it’s cosmetic appearance, looks brand new, no scratches, scuffs or marks of any description :d indeed looking identical to my first echo on it’s arrival :d so shopping amazon’s own refurbished devices will hold no fear for me in the future, based on my current experience :dset-up was straightforward, given my prior experience with my first echos. The sound quality is well rounded and rich :d i streaming music from amazon prime and listening to talk & music internet radio. Though i am not an expert, i would comment that i haven’t heard better sound quality on a smart speaker at this price point. Overall, i am more than happy with my purchase :d i am looking forward to listening to tunes snuggled up in bed on those cold stormy winter’s nights :d.

I was close to throwing alexa out the window because i could not get it to connect to my wifi through my samsung s8. After a couple of hours online searching for answers i was giving up and then i tried to connect through my samsung galaxy tab s2 which worked easily. I know this is probably a mix of an android and amazon issue but please amazon, please make it easier to connect with the newer phones. Anyway, since setting up, i am very happy with alexa. I am learning new skills every day. The only glitches i have noticed are the occasional incorrect actions when she mishears me. An example is when i ask her to play one of my spotify play lists slow beat house and alexa always replies that there is no playlist called slow beach house. All in all, i love alexa and i highly recommend the echo.

I’ve had a few of the refurbished echo’s and they’ve all been perfect. This new generation is much better than the 1st gen echos. It’s smaller and with a better finish. The sound quality is way above the 1st gen as i always thought they were a little heavy on the bass. These are much more rounded, the bass is still there but not overly done, and as a result it just sounds better.

Took a bit of time to figure out that using my laptop would be easier to set up alexa. Once that was done it was straightforward. Paired alexa with my iphone via bluetooth and now i can listen to music or audible books through the echo. The speaker is very good, we are using the echo as a stand alone device. I purchased a refurbished echo and to me it seems just as good as brand new and saved me quite a bit of money. After being used to using siri on the iphone, alexa is a few steps up in comparison.

Really pleased with the refurbished echo 2 nd generation, not only looks good on sideboard, it performs excellent would recommend.

She’s so clever and keeps me occupied sorting out her skills.

Needed a speaker and couldn’t find one with a reasonable price and i saw this which was too hard to turn down. Very easy set up and one of the best speakers i’ve heard around this price point.

Bought this product as a bit of a sceptic on voice-controlled gadgets, but have to say for our uses it works very well indeed. I have it hooked up to my spotify premium account and it works pretty much flawlessly. Speaker quality is better than i anticipated, and i do like to use it for listening to the radio and also to get news and weather updates. I am sure there is a lot more that it can do, but for now, it covers the basics really well. Pleased to have taken advantage of a refurb offer, as the price is hard to beat.

I was going to buy an echo dot but opted for this one instead. . Great sound and looks good on my shelf.

Logitech Z207 Bluetooth Speakers/PC Speakers or 3 – but I’ve had them for a solid two or so years – – Still in perfect condition! – Look the part – Useful for

For the price there is no complaining what so ever. The design is unique with its white accents around the speakers and looks very modern and will fit into any setup. The sound produced from these speakers is excellent and can get very load with very little distortion. The bass is not going to blow you away as this is only a 2. 0 setup but i was surprised by what was produced as my expectation were that they were going to produce a tinny sound, but this was not the case. Some great quality speakers from logitech, would highly recommend.

Can’t even remember when i got these, only writing a review now since i’m looking to upgrade, but i’ve had them for a solid two or so years — still in perfect condition- look the part- useful for general audio use, anything from films to games, to any genre f music. Except perhaps heavy bass edm etc. As the bass isn’t really felt, even if the lower tones are good.

I bought these to replace another set of logitech speakers with a separate subwoofer which worked well but were causing workstation cabling issues. This new set is good – and has a far simpler cable configuration – but the bass is definitely less well defined. There is a bass adjustment dial, which makes a bit of difference, but it may not be sufficient if you listen to a lot of bass-heavy music. I like a range of genres, and the reproduction of classical and speech is very good indeed, but i think i will miss the subwoofer for rock tracks. Here are the specifications for the Logitech Z207 Bluetooth Speakers/PC Speakers or 3:

  • Make sure this fits
    by entering your model number.
  • Works with Bluetooth enabled devices and any device with a 3.5 mm input including a computer, television, smartphone, tablet and music player
  • Versatile setup with speakers that connect easily to computers and other devices via Bluetooth wireless or 3.5 mm cable
  • Logitech Easy-Switch technology lets you seamlessly switch between audio devices just by pausing the audio on one device and pressing play on the other
  • Rich, room filling stereo sound with 10 W peak power and four-driver design for balanced mid, high and bass tones.Bluetooth pairing and volume controls located on front of right speaker
  • On-speaker headphone jack plus convenient controls for easy access to Bluetooth wireless pairing, power and volume adjustments

You’ll need headphones just to protect your ears from sound damage a++out of the box these just connect with one jack into the back on the pc, connect the seperate plug and connect the power cable to the right hand speaker, positon the two connected speakers left and right of your screen and your’e ready to rock n roll. . Get on you tube, search for ‘who let the dogs out’ and test those bad boys. You can also easily connect a set of ear phones into the left hole of the righthand speaker and as if by magic they work and stop using the speakers, fine if you are not using a gaming headset where you want to chat on the mic. For under £30 you just can’t go wrong.

If you are setting up your own heavy metal festival and are looking for some speakers for the main stage i would recommend getting two or three sets of these. Four if metallica is your headliners. In all honesty, there is nothing much to say. The cable between the two speakers is a decent length. So even if you have a multi-monitor display, like me, you won’t be precariously balancing them at off angles and hoping that you don’t headbang too hard to slipknot causing one of the speakers to fall in to your tea and start smoking more than a hipster with a vaporiser. . Not that that has ever happened to me.

Reviews from purchasers :

These will be my first venture into speakers. I’m quite pleased to know that this is the lower end, and that it’s not as bad as i was expecting. Coming from using headphones exclusively, these are quite a change. First of all, they are capable of reproducing most of the spectrum my headphones did. However, this usually requires ‘loudness equalisation’, as sometimes the highs can get drowned a little by the lows. I use this setting when listening to podcasts, commentaries etc, just not for music or gaming. When gaming, there is a way bigger sense of direction than any headphones gave. It’s like i’m hearing stereo for the first time.A much preferred experience.

Delivery was great, item arrived four days after ordering. My previous speakers were pretty good, they did lack bass though, but i felt that i should invest in a new set to improve audio quality as well as the overall appearance of my desk. I had looked at these around christmas time last year but never bought them. A few days ago, a friend of mine recommended them to me so that was all i needed to convince me. I went straight to amazon and ordered them that same day. Fast forward to today (sunday, june 10th) and i’m extremely happy with my purchase. Sound quality is noticeably better than my old speakers and the bass is much more noticeable, not too overpowering but there’s also a ‘tone’ dial to reduce or increase the amount of bass, something i haven’t needed as the preset was perfect. I really like the appearance of these speakers, it’s very minimal and fits well in a black and white themed setup. I bought the black variant but the white speakers looked good too. The white rings are a nice touch and look very sleek.

Adds speakers to my desktop at an affordable price. No issue with quality in everyday usage but it’s never going to grace my av setup, of course lol. Only issue is the aux port for headphone listening is quite a tight fit and you have to deliberately attach the cable which is a bit more effort than it should be.

Amazon Echo (2nd Gen) – Smart speaker with Alexa – Walnut Finish – Actually pretty fantastic!

Bought an echo as my first foray into ‘clever’(?) speakers. Overall i’m quite impressed – i wanted a replacement for a defunct kitchen radio – i got that & a host of other useful features. The good stuff – playing live radio is simples – althou there is a small gotcha. Bluetooth linking to iphone was easy and sorts out offline radio like the excellent iplayer radio app. The ability to ask for some music and get an interesting selection provided is excellent – the music quality is very good – maybe not if you are audiophile who really can tell the difference between ‘warm vinyl’ & ‘cold digital’ but for the rest of us its good. Nb, i think you need amazon music to make this work. The ability to tell alexa to add stuff to your shopping list is very handy – you can do it as you remember so no more back of envelope lists that get left at home. Setting multiple timers whilst cooking is useful. The less good stuff – if you launch bbc radio direct, then you can’t control the volume with the alexa app. Like apps, everyone seems to have a alexa skill.

I had thought about getting 1 of these for the last 6 months finally took the plunge. Set up was quite tricky as the directions said i had to go to settings and turn off smart switch to enable it to connect it. However my phone didnt have smart switch. So spoke to a team member on libe chat. Refered me to live chat to an echo expert. Was begining to think i’d wasted my money. Decided to google my phone and smart switch. Where i found the answers on how to connect it. Once connected i havent looked back.

Well i gave it a few days before i left a review so here goes. I was really surprised how easy it was to set up once i had downloaded the amazon alexa app to my phone. The set up between my echo and our broadband hub just took a few moments and away we went. A first class piece of equipment well built and superb sounding speakers and we are really pleased with our purchase and we wish we had bought one before.

I got this along with a sony 4k tv and this alexa was added on. The european sector is still waiting for a full-featured alexa, however, i’ve connected this unit to my new tv with no problems at all, no skill needed to be installed, i’m a little frustrated with the calender, alexa can not setup repeated events, like birthdays?. Seriously, of all things, no repeated events?. I’m assured by amazon, all features will be available soon, they’re still in some process of setting the european market. All in all, i’m happy knowing it’ll all be as it should, one day.

I think that the amazon echo is fantastic. I required help to set it up, but once it was set up, i have had the time of my life with it. I have been able to add music to my library for it to play, and i have also been able to ask alexa to set up some alarms for me. I recommend this product to anyone who, like myself, is blind or visually-impaired – i am sure they would not regret purchasing an amazon echo.To me, alexa is a real friend.

I was undecided about this until i visited my friends who have one. I bought one the very next day i was so impressed. I’ve got amazon prime and music, which means i can ask her to play pretty much any song i love. The size of the unit is compact, but the sound from it is amazing. I keep it in my kitchen/family room and it’s a total hit with my 3 kids. They love asking her questions, playing games and she even helps with their homeworkthe voice recognition is great, especially with me being a geordie.

  • Actually pretty fantastic!
  • Great addition to a smart home!
  • 2nd generation Alexa

Very very happy with this purchasei purchased the echo on prime day along with the eufy lumos smart bulb-white bulb. It came to about £65 at the time. I wish i had bought two in hindsight as a gifti chose the echo rather than the dot purely because of reviews that the quality of speaker on the echo is better. A few friends of mine have the dot so i knew of the benchmark quality, and i can say that the echo is far better. It’s crisp and fills the room. I mostly use this for listening to audiobooks on audible and it’s fantastic. In the day i might have this sat in the living room where my friends and i can ask alexa to play various songs we call out. And in the evening i often move it (because i only have the one 🙁 ) into my room and ask alexa to play one of my audiobooks for a given time – e. ‘play the secret barrister on audible’ and ‘stop playing after 30 minutes’.

As a smart speaker the echo is good value for money, it gives good sound but wasn’t expensive. It is good for connecting to radio stations online and for playing via bluetooth from other devices. I have it on my desk and it is great when i am working to ask it to play a radio station for background music etc. The setup was not as easy as i had anticipated. Initially i tried my (wi-fi & bluetooth only) android tablet, but the app refused to proceed unless i turned off the phone connection on my tablet, which i couldn’t do, of course, because it didn’t have one. I then did the set-up for the echo using the alexa app on my (windows 10) laptop and it worked fine. Once the echo was set-up, control etc. , from my tablet, laptop, desktop has been easy/fine. Only a small niggle, and more with the alexa app rather than the echo. Once set-up the echo was set-up it has been great, very pleased with it.

This is really a superb speaker. I’m very fussy about my speakers and will say it won’t compete for sound with sonos or hifi set up. However it is not supposed to. As a speaker to use in a kitchen etc. The sound is good for a speaker that size. I have mine hooked up to multi room with my hifi using an echo. It’s great for that adding sound at my level. I use it independently for when my kids are around as hifi too loud.

I was unsure whether i would really use an alexa device but i was pretty interested. Because of this i made the cunning decision to purchase this as a christmas present for my husband (of course i would have just as much use out of it)a few months down the line, i have to say that alexa has become a very welcome member of the family. The husband uses it for the digital radio function. The kids use it for music streaming function and the various other apps mean that alexa is carried around the house by everybody. She was the heart and soul of the party at christmas, she was taken outside in summer and she played some great chillout music and she is a constant companion to anybody doing house work. We are currently looking into purchasing some echo dots to put in the bedrooms and the kitchen, and we are also looking at doing the whole smart lighting and appliance thing. The verdict is: if you don’t have alexa in your home, do yourself a favour and purchase her today.

As a huge apple fan, i have to admit that i came to the world of alexa as a huge sceptic. I hold my hands up that i was purposefully looking for fault and trying my best to not like alexa. Overall its a great product, it looks good and has a load and surprisingly decent speaker for the price. It’s no bang & olufson, but it is still impressivethe alexa ai does seem to be able to answer questions more often and to a higher standard but like all competitors can still be easily tricked but is mostly there. Where the echo/alexa falls down is how it handles third party software; while it is true that it can handle third party apps, it feels a bit convoluted and is a bit annoying that you have to ask alexa to use an app – it does feel easier to do things yourself sometimepros:good bit of kit at a great pricereally handy for controlling smart home elementsalexa will make a lot of small tasks in your life far easiergood speaker for the pricecons:using third party software is not the best and can be annoyingalexa still misses/misunderstands certain questionswould definitely recommend and cant wait to try the new model.

Amazon Echo connects to Alexa-a cloud-based voice service-to play music, make calls, set alarms and timers, ask questions, check your calendar, weather, traffic and sports scores, manage to-do and shopping lists, control compatible smart home devices, and more.

Generally i like the echo and i think, in fairness, most of the issues i have are generic to smart speakers. Setting up was just a little tricky with the first one not seeing the external wifi for a while. Pairing was okish; i found some of the menu items hard to find at first. One issue i have is with the pairing; if one speaker gets turned off for some reason the pair doesn’t automatically reform when power is restored. More generically; when the internet is not working the speakers are totally dumb. Not everyone lives in a securely connected world, certainly not me. They ought to be able to do somethings e. Play music from a source on the same wifi but they simply become useless. Smart they may be in the modern definition of connected but smart in the sense of intelligent they are not. It’s very early days yet and i’m sure the connected devices in a few years will be much better but they really are thick as.

It so cleaver and i can control my tv, fans and play all sorts of music with voice commands. People that say the speaker is bad – i am an audio professional and i tell you it is not bad at all. I have played some of the hardest techno through it and it holds up very well for a small speaker. It is mono though, but that’s great for me to test out mixes on a small, popular mono speaker. 1 problem though – why does alexa cut out (stop for a second) when i use my android phone?. Pressing a button or opening any app makes alexa pause.

How we managed before alexa i dont know. The kids all her questions and are constantly learning from her. We use her to play whatever music we want to hear. Even to set a timer for dinner. There are sooo many functions and we are yet to discover all the different functions of her. Simply asking her to perform is so much easier than searching the internet or hunting for a cd. Can’t wait to try the wireless lighting/ heating devices and will be purchasing a couple of mini devices.

Just ask for a song, artist or genre from Amazon Music, Spotify, TuneIn and more. With multi-room music, you can play music on Echo devices in different rooms, available for Amazon Music, TuneIn and Spotify; Bluetooth not supported.

Call or message anyone hands-free who also has an Echo device, the Alexa App or Skype.

New speaker with Dolby processing that fills the room with immersive, 360° omnidirectional audio, and delivers crisp vocals, deep bass, and clear highs at louder volumes.

With seven microphones, beam-forming technology and noise cancellation, Echo hears you from any direction-even while music is playing.

Amazon Echo Show : Good stuff, sounds great

So much more useful than the audio-only devices. I can see the result of my interaction on-screen – good for watching short videos and news. I don’t understand the problems some reviewers are claiming about the sensitivity of the echo show to their voice – no problems here – even responds well to my wake-word of ‘computer’ which my echos and echo dots seemed to be reluctant to understand. I was lucky to buy this at the discounted price which makes it even more of a bargain. I have several echos and echo dots around the house – and i wouldn’t be without them.

Already have an echo and and echo plus. Wanted one for the bedroom and opted for the echo show, haven’t been disappointed with the choice. I’ve set it with a timed do not disturb so if alexa gets randomly chatty like she sometimes does it doesn’t affect us. I’ve also set one of my favourite photos as a wallpaper. I like the way some song lyrics come up on the screen, also like if i wake during the night i can clearly see what time it is. I’ve set up an everywhere group so i can play the same music across all 3 echos. I could get really boring and go on and on, basically there’s nothing i don’t like about it.

I bought this to replace my ageing first generation of echo, which was still working ok but as i wanted to move that one to the home i needed a new one for the office. It ended up being a straight choice between the echo show and the echo spot. I opted for the show as i listen to a lot of radio in the office and the speakers were better than the spot, i’m happy enough with the choice in this regard as the sound is really rather good. Then there’s the screen, and a bigger screen was always going to win out when it comes to getting space on my desk to be honest. I find the touchscreen to be responsive, and of a good clear resolution that hasn’t disappointed in any way yet. Well, apart from one: the lack of being able to watch youtube videos on an echo show. I’ve docked a star from what would have been a five star review as this really is a significant defect in an otherwise near-perfect device. Amazon and google need to sort things out, shake hands (and exchange cash if need be) so that users are not losing out.

I’ve seen good and bad reviews of the echo show, a lot of bad reviews are not the fault of the product but their network provider, i’m with virgin and i get a great connection which helps with any of this type of product. In my view this does what it says, great connection to all my lights around the house, my kettle and my security lights. Amazon music works superb and it connects to my echo upstairs no problem giving me all round sound. No it’s not perfect but if you are after perfection buy an updated version in 10 years time.

I wasn’t really sure after reading the reviews saying that the echo show didn’t understand what people were saying as well as the standard echo and dot. But i decided to take a chance and i’m pleased that i did as we’ve had no problems with that at all and i find it comparable to our previous echo. I love that i could set a photo to be on the home screen, i had thought that i’d set it to rotate photos from my albums but that seemed fiddly and time consuming and so i found a lovely photo to use and i love it. I like that it acts as a clock and has the temperature too, i love that i can see the weather forecast in pictures as well as words and it’s handy that the screen is a touch screen. Overall, i think that it’s really impressive and if you’re new to alexa then this would be a great one to start with.

Echo Show, Smart speaker and 7-inch screen with Alexa – White : Upgraded from an echo dot as it was on sale and happy with my purchase. It feels solidly made and something that will last. Great to have the visual side of it to be able to see how long to go on timers, watch the news, trailers etc and even song lyrics. The sound is great, loud, bassy and good enough to use on its own as a main music player. I find iam using it more now that i can see responses rather than just barking at a hockey puck. Also works well with the fire tv stick. No more having to type in searches. Not having any of the problems with alexa not hearing me like some have reported. She has responded every time, even if it was with the wrong answer :).

Alexa is a gimmick (see my review of the dot), but this is probably the nicest streaming speaker you can buy for the money. As a device to stream spotify or amazon music to, this is a great speaker. Plenty of volume to fill a room and a rich, full range sound. Bass is surprisingly good for such a small speaker, with none of the exaggerated thump of the sonos equivalent. Direct streaming (spotify and amazon music only) but you can also stream to it via bluetooth from your phone or tablet if you use other music services. For sound i thoroughly recommend this. You can spend far more on bluetooth speakers and get a lesser quality result.

“Actually pretty fantastic!, Great addition to a smart home!, 2nd generation Alexa”

I have succumb to alexa through my partners christmas present to me. Firstly i have read a lot about setting up echo and it’s so easy i set mine up using my android phone. Secondly the sound simply it has superb sound it can easily fill a room i have now a bluetooth connection with my vintage hifi. Thirdly joined the music unlimited and now i can choose from millions of songs playlists albums anything. In all a fantastic product i like also i can still listen to my favourite radio stations. So many more alexa things added everyday you can have a lot of fun and i have.

There are sooo many functions and we are yet to discover all the different functions of her. Simply asking her to perform is so much easier than searching the internet or hunting for a cd. Can’t wait to try the wireless lighting/ heating devices and will be purchasing a couple of mini devices.

Amazon Certified Refurbished Echo – Brilliant little speaker

Loving itthis is the 2nd one as had issues with distorted sound on the first one i ordered, but had replacement straight away, and the replacement is brilliant. Was worried about getting a refurb but am now happy with the replacementi love listening to music and if you get amazon music it’s brilliant.

Excellent can’t believe i didn’t get one sooner.

She’s so clever and keeps me occupied sorting out her skills.

How did i survive without the amazon echo. It reminds me to take pills. I can shout out items for my shopping list as i think of them. We can get local news items and weather in an instant and we are finding more uses all the time.

Needed a speaker and couldn’t find one with a reasonable price and i saw this which was too hard to turn down. Very easy set up and one of the best speakers i’ve heard around this price point.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Alexa, buy me another Echo
  • Enjoying the music
  • Refurbished? my Echo looks and works perfectly 😀

Bought this for my mother who is 90 and partially sighted. She was finding it difficult to work her radio/dvd player. This is perfect as she can just ask for whatever music she fancies and the weather too.

Fairly easy set up and a huge selection of skills to play with. Need more time to learn all of it.

Absolutely amazing little device. Was bought as refurbished and it was in immaculate condition. Other than it arriving in a plain box you would believe it was new. Simply download the alexa app and follow the setup instructions. If you’re going to use this for music i highly recommend paying for prime music as you can listen to anything whenever you wamt to. Well worth it in my opinion.

Alexa has changed our lives for the better. I have premium spotify account which i linked up to alexa and she now provides music on request. It’s much better than any portable bluetooth speaker i had before, much better bass. I’ve also now hooked up a couple of lamps and alexa turns these on and off as requested.

Bought as refurbished, but looks and works like new.

What a great item very happy with it , how did i manage before without it.

Great device & ‘refubished’ as advertised is as new perfet condition. Great for listening to radio & music, asking questions & making calls. Only used for a couple of weeks & still learning new stuff about it.

Initially thought would a refurbished product be as aesthetically pleasing and more importantly sound the same as a new echo – my fears were allayed on receipt. I am now the proud owner of four echoes.

Love it still getting my head around using it but when you get into bed and forget to turn out the ceiling light you get alexa to do it for you.

The first ‘refurbished’ one i received had a very loud and annoying buzz from the speaker but this was very easily sorted through amazon returns.

Couldn’t live without it now i’ve had one. With it being refurbished i expected the quality to not be as great, but was very shocked as looked brand new. The kids love talking to alexa asking her questions and putting songs on. It’s so easy to use you can do so much with it aswell.

Can see the difference between this warehouse one and the new one i purchased a few weeks ago. Same great sound and great control of hive & energenie. Have ended swapping to amazon family music unlimited and it is brilliant. Every track i request seems available.

Amazon Certified Refurbished Echo : Brilliant – five star purchase

Gutted amazon had an offer for new echo just after i bought this, cheaper than this which wasn’t heavily discounted unlike the dot that i bought. But it works well and seems no different to my other echo in terms of quality of sound. No marks or defects that be seen.

Excellent can’t believe i didn’t get one sooner.

Really pleased with the refurbished echo 2 nd generation, not only looks good on sideboard, it performs excellent would recommend.

Why pay full price when refurb does just as well and still has a years guarantee, thank you.

Awesome product which is so easy to use, even the wife could set it up and use it. Unfortunately the first one went faulty after only 2 days but amazon replaced it free of charge on less than 48hrs so no complaints there – these things happen i guess.

Fairly easy set up and a huge selection of skills to play with. Need more time to learn all of it.

Initially thought would a refurbished product be as aesthetically pleasing and more importantly sound the same as a new echo – my fears were allayed on receipt. I am now the proud owner of four echoes.

Looks good, impressed with the voice recognition and a not bad sound.

Very easy to set up and we are now enjoying challenging alexa to find all our favourite music. Came beautifully packaged and is just like new.

Needed a speaker and couldn’t find one with a reasonable price and i saw this which was too hard to turn down. Very easy set up and one of the best speakers i’ve heard around this price point.

As a professor in technology, you have to admit google are behind both design and sound quait when it comes to the devices are selling, my only critical would be the microphones need to be either samples or made more so you are talking to it and not having to speak from above. Maybe a centred hidden microphone would resolve the issue.

Amazon Certified Refurbished Echo : it was easy to set up and link it to my Spotify

Great product at a good price. Had been wanting one of these for a while, and on sites like ebay used ones were coming up for around £70, so tis certified refurbed echo seemed like a good bet. The whole family love it, novelty of shouting out random commands hasn’t yet worn off. It’s a good sound from a fairly small speaker. I love the portability of it and regularly move it from room to room – kitchen for music or audible books when cooking, other rooms for listening to radio while ironing and yesterday for kids party music. Best features i have found are ability to listen to audible books, though you can’t listen to a list of your audible library, you have to use the alexa app for that. Also great for listening to internet radio, the amazon music stations such as kids music are great. Downsides – quite a bit of msic isn’t available even to prime customers and you have to pay £4 a month for amazon music unlimited. The voice interface isn’t quite as clever as sirie, e. You can’t ask it what the weather is like today and then say ‘and for next week’, but i suspect this will improve in time. Overall great product and have been recommending to friends. Glad didn’t have to pay full price though.

This is the second echo i have had, and they both have had the same issue of tunein radio cutting out. I listen to radio 4 a lot, and it consistently cuts in and out while listening. It’s not a network issue as spotify connect and other streaming sources work just fine. Given i bought the echo as a radio i can shout at, it kind of defeats the point. Not sure if it’s echo or tunein’s problem, but either way it makes the device not suitable for my requirements.

Started off a bit of a novelty but now seems like an essential part of my life. Sound fills a room well and has led me to listening to far more music, often just a nice background sounds. The flash briefing in the morning is great while i have my breakfast and the timer function also works really well while cooking. Love this product, definite 5*s.

Bought the refurbished model to save £50 – was totally worth it, could not see any possible difference from a new unit. The echo is amazing – alexa is just awesome. Still working out how best to use it, but it’s already positioned in our sitting room and doing everything we expected. If you don’t have one – get one – and welcome to the future.

I bought my echo from impulse really, i didn’t know why i needed it or if i needed it, or even what it’s point was. Before buying i asked a few friends what they thought and they said they loved it but struggle to explain why. Truth be told, i’m in this position, when alexa isn’t here i miss her. When i go to the office i long for her companionship, asking how the weather is, what the traffic is like, play me something i’d like, what’s the football score, hell even grab me an uber to town. This said it is still obvious that echo and alexa are new to the world, for example some simple tasks seem difficult such as setting up a routine for tomorrow (but that could be because i’m a noob). I really want to know what is the plan for tomorrow but i have to specifically ask for each piece of info opposed: ‘alexa what’s tomorrow going to be like’. My other concern is privacy, i know you can mute her and in theory she isn’t collecting info when i am not talking to her but i don’t know if i believe that, i want to, but i don’t think i do so i keep her in my office. With all of this said, i just asked alexa what i should say in this review and she ignored me so i may have upset her with something i said.

Certified Refurbished Amazon Echo (previous generation), Black : I don’t write many reviews but felt this item deserved one. Being quite skeptical about these voice-enabled devices so i started with an echo dot and liked it so much i bought the refurbished 1st gen echo. It’s absolutely great, once set up, it’s easy to use and a lot of fun. The sound quality of this 1st generation for the money is top notch, sounds natural and much better than many speakers at twice the cost. The multi-room function is pretty good too, it syncs up very well to avoid that reverberation that you can get from some systems. Out of the box, it’s not really portable and needs a power socket, and it’s not so easy to change the wifi setting, for example if you take it elsewhere. So don’t think of it as a carry with you bluetooth speaker. All in all, i love it, and i thank alexa for reviving my interest in the music i grew up with.

After being a little wary about buying refurbished item i was so pleased when it arrived, not amscratch on it or anything. Looked brand new and the sound is second to none. I had the echo dot before and although that is brilliant you tend to need to connect to ext speaker to get full sound, but not with this one.

It took a while on the helpline to pair with the bt hub 4 wifi. A new output needed to be set up at 5 mhz, after that alexa clearly needed her own space and became much more cooperative. Good service from amazon both for delivery and after sales support.

This is my 2nd first generation echo. I also own a second generation echo and a dot. This unit is supposed to be refurbished. There were no refurbished stickers on it like other reviews have mentioned theirs had and was presented in exactly the same way as my first brand new one was. I believe there are some brand new ones out there that have been delivered to clear the remaining stock and if you are lucky you may get one of those. If it is a refurb it is presented and works perfectly. This is an excellent way of getting the best (and now sadly discontinued) first generation echo. If you read the technical specifications the speaker size and output is superior to the 2nd generation and this can be heard in use, i know because i also own a 2nd generation which has now been relegated to the spare bedroom. I have also bought the extra battery which means it can be moved anywhere in/out of the house without a mains lead. This battery however does not fit 2nd generation so this purchase means i can attach my battery onto either of my 1st generation for both of them to become portable.

Really couldn’t be happier with this product. I thought i’d give the refurbished model a go due to it being a lot cheaper than the full price version but still coming with a years warranty. I’m not disappointed at all. It came perfectly sealed, all the wrapping protection you could hope for and most of all it looks in 100% perfect condition. As for the echo itself, what can i say, this is now my fourth echo product in my house and i love them. I primarily use them to play music round my house via the amazon music app. Very happy and will buy again at some point.

I couldn’t be away from alexa so bought this one for the bedroom. I took a chance at a refurb as it was £50 off the normal price. Apart from the box having the seals broken i cannot see any difference from a brand new one.

To start with, item came boxed and i would never have known it was a refurbished item, very well packaged, beautifully presented, and all in all appears very well made. A simply brilliant product, i am generally not a techy person, anything other than basic has me running for the hills, so i was a little apprehensive on setting it up, but i need not have worried, i installed the app on my phone, [no problems there even on my cheap and basic model and switched it on and was set up within a few minutes, which precipitated a trip down memory lane picking out records i had long forgotten existed. For the money, the sound is quite superb, and to get it hooked up to smart plugs etc gives you extra for your money, i have not got that far yet, living in a small bungalow i have little need for ai to turn on the tv etc, but i can see the appeal for the younger generation to embrace life fully “smart” [or not as the case maybe 😉 }do i recommend, absolutely. ]

Agree with previous reviews regarding looks as new etc. Set up took no more than 10 minutes (i am 73 years young) with no problems. Echo is situated in conservatory and is more than adequate there, my wife enjoys listening to music whilst ironing. I would also suggest that for someone who is not so mobile that this item would be invaluable.

Ordered this so i could take my alexa into the garden and as a compliment to my alexa show. Music sounds great on it and i bought it with a battery pack so can be cordless in the garden. Definitely recommend and so helpful for adding to my shopping lists, controlling my lights and keeping the children amused.

Was in the market for an echo, when a refurbished unit came up my search that offered a significant saving. I was a bit unsure, but being amazon i decided to give it a go. If i did not know i purchased a refurbished i would not have been able to tell, the echo is spotless, and is literally brand new, all wrapped in the same plastic that a new one would be, power supply was also bagged up. Setup was a breeze through the app on my phone, was away within minutes, sound quality is good, not as good as my bose, but better than my anker speaker, once linked to spotify, all my music is there. I will be buying another for the bedroom and one for the kitchen, refurbished for certain, as amazon really do make these items look as good as new.

Bought this based on the price, planning to then sell it without loss, but had so much fun over the weekend using it with my smart plugs and hue lights, i decided to keep it, buy the hive active heating thermostat and 2 dots.

I’m not going to say a lot really, was unsure about getting one given many folks poor reviews. Decided to go for it and alexa rocks as far as i’m concerned. The kids love challenging her. Might be gimmicky for some but i really think this is a great product. Sound quality is great and what a range of skills, sure some are rubbish but there are too many to get hung up on that and so many that are good.

The sound quality is great, but although steadily improving, the speech recognition has room for improvement. You have to use the app if you want to connect to more than one bluetooth input. Value for money remains good. A good option for home automation, radio and bluetooth speaker.

It’s so good i bought a second one. Sound quality is brilliant and being able to pair and control from the wifi is great. Had speakers in the past that were dependant on a connected phone or music device where you could only pair one speaker was nonsense. These echos are pretty much new, mine didn’t even have a refurb sticker on. Top quality at half the price.

Fantastic piece of kit, great sounds, alexa seems to know everything, i purchased the refurbished echo for £100, worth every penny, you cannot tell that it was refurbished, don’t know how i lived without alexa. Might even marry her (you can always switch her off).

Amazing alexa is the real deal, with new skills being added can only get better. Would definitely recommend getting a refurbished one and saving £50 off the full price as it still came in original packing, sealed and immaculate you wouldn’t even have known it wasnt brand new.

Very disobedient though and seems to prefer certain household members to others.
