Canton DM 75 2 – Unbelievable sound system with optimum sound settings included!

Great product and timely delivery.

Easy to set up and not a bad sound tho still not what i’m looking for.

I previously owned the yamaha srt1000 soundbase however it developed a fault as when any deep base was on the case vibrated excessively causing a rattling noise. That was meant to be one if the best systems out there. . This completely blows it out if the water. Unbelievable sound quality from something so small and i’m literally blown away with it. Films are transformed and brought to life like never before and the 200w of power this thing has means it’s ready to pump out music, tv and films with such clarity and vigour it will transform your sitting room. Trust methis is one of the best things i’ve ever boughti’ve included the optimum sound settings below to get the most out if your system. Set sound output to pcm on your blu ray player to make the most of the sound as it can sound dull set to auto. Also use the arc hdmi setting for sky so you get the most out of the sound. Basic settings:bass – +5treble – 0additional settingslip – adjust to your liking but i keep mine at 0. Sub – i have a yamaha sub connected but it doesn’t really need it. Here are the specifications for the Canton DM 75 2:

  • Make sure this fits
    by entering your model number.
  • This 8-driver design transforms TV and movie sound, plus offer wireless music playback
  • Sleek, glass-topped sound base sits discreetly under your flat screen TV
  • Ideal for larger rooms and flat screens
  • 8 drivers: 2 tweeters, 2 midrange, 4 subwoofers
  • 2.1 channel amplification with 200 watts system power

Best thing we ever bought – sound quality excellent.

Could not get the unit to work. . Until i realised that you have to tum the units volume control way past 15 (99max). By which time i had already booked a returnonly a day in and getting used to it. Great clear sound after playing with the bass and treble.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Excellent
  • Great clear sound after playing with the bass and treble
  • Great sound from a reasonably priced piece of kit

Bought this back in july 2017. Well made, looks good, sounds excellent. Mine is situated on large wooden cabinet with tv standing on top. Bass – deep and tight, no overhang or booming. Dialogue clear on most programmes. Music – good detail / dynamics. Control logic – absolute joy to use, all functions easily controlled by high quality built-like-a-brick remote. Lipsync facility very useful – can be altered instantly whilst watching. System stores current settings even when disconnected from mains, no need to be left in stand-by. Display – large, easy to read at distance, disappears when not needed – no blinding led to annoy – lovely. Single hdmi port is not a problem for me, only need single optical input. Not used remote learning facilities.

Good quality, great sound quality. Seems louder when there’s music playing, which can be a little annoying.

Excellent speaker, poor display.

I’d been considering the smaller dm55 for some time to replace a samsung 2. 1 ‘surround sound’ system with sub-woofer and satellite speakers. It was fine but i always found the sound a bit ‘muddled’ and ‘boomy’. We also had a real challenge understanding some dialogue and put it down to our ageing ears but after reading the reviews, i thought a different approach was called for. The only thing that put me off the the dm55 was the physical size – our tv stand was wider than the unit and all the wisdom seems to say that’s not a good idea so i stumbled across the larger cousin, the dm75. I had been looking at it on amazon for a couple of days when the price shot up from £299 to £399 overnight (there were still some buying options at £299 but with lengthy delivery times) so i dashed out and bought one elsewhere from a different source for £299. Let me tell you, i am delighted by this soundbase in every way. Of course, at this stage, i cannot vouch for its reliability but aesthetics, build quality and sound are first class and it”s also very simple to set up and with the very handy ir learning capability was almost a plug & play exchange for my previous samsung system and remote control. It’s worth spending some time reading the instructions about the various options and adjusting them for your particular environment to get things as good as they can be. Well, i said my samsung sound seemed ‘muddled’ and that’s something you certainly can’t say about this canton dm75 with voice and higher frequency background sounds being absolutely crystal clear whilst at the same time, the depth of the lower frequencies is just right without irritating sensitive ear drums. The ability to also adjust bass & treble ‘on the fly’ is also very much appreciated. I have my dm75 set up with just a toslink (optical) cable from the tv and a chromecast audio plugged into the rca sockets so i can now stream music to it along with other speakers around the home. I have to say, music rendering is superb too.

Excellent upgrade from my previous sonos setup (playbar, sub, and play 1’s). The sound is more intelligent, so you find you’re not having to turn the sound up or down depending what’s going on on the tv. Good integration with tv for remote control, and a really good form factor. Looks much more integrated and tidy than a soundbar that sits in front of the tv. Still keep a play5 in the room for music, but much happier having a dedicated solution for tv sound.

  2. This review is from : Canton DM 75 2.1 Virtual Surround System – Black Glass

Sound quality is a little wooly too much base, charity of the sound is a bit muffled. In surround mode voice is reduced and very much put into the background. However the major problem with canton is that after 3 years of use it completely failed with fait whistling noise and burning smell coming from the back of the unit (power supply / control / amp). The green led was still on but no remote response. Contacted canton support on 01279 822800 for help and they informed me that if the unit is still under 2 year warranty then they would send it to canton repair centre, if it is outside then i need to contact servicecare support services ltd in manchester. I have been quoted almost £200 for a repair and as you can now get better sounding units almost the same price makes it beyond economic repair.
