B&O PLAY by Bang & Olufsen Beoplay A1 tooth Speaker : Brilliant concept build and sound.

There is a very in depth description of this product on this page including a video which you should watch so i won’t rehash all those details. This product delivers on its description.Solid and clearly well made. Both muse and my husband who is gadget mad and a harsh critic loved it. It is incredibly easy to use with bluetooth. You just activate it in your phone and on the player and that’s it. An added plus is that the battery life for the b&o play shows up on your phone so it’s easy to see if it needs recharging.

Brilliant concept build and sound. . If you can justify £200 for a bluetooth speaker it is a delight to own. Having bought and used this i am very pleased to have purchased it. Firstly having researched this item, including reading amazon reviews, i went to a b&o shop so i could hear it and have how it works etc explained. It is the same price in a b&o shop. It feels weighty and very well made. Quality of design and build is right up to b&o’s usual high standards. It connected very easily to my iphone and my ipad. Apparently you can have up to two devices paired with it according to the salesman.

Excellent sound quality, small enough to be easily portable, and can’t quite believe how rich the sound is from this little speaker. Definitely recommended if you want to spend this much.

Great sound from such a small speaker. Excellent bluetooth speaker. Great sound for such a small portable speaker. Can be placed on a flat surface or hung in any room. As always with b & o you get what you pay for.

  • Brilliant concept build and sound.
  • Stylish portable speaker with a lovely clear sound
  • Great speaker, terrible app and stero pairing

Rather than faff about with halfords and fitting an in car system we use this to stream music whilst travelling which it is excellent at. Loud and clear and because it is portable we then also have the option to use elsewhere whilst out and about and usefully, to improve poor quality tv audio.

This speaker will amaze you. Trust me when i say, this beautiful little speaker sounds amazing. The bose mini was my favourite for the last 2 years. If your like me and don’t know whether to go for this little gem, i couldn’t recommend this speaker enough. Once you here it you will be blown away, i was. It really packs a punch for it’s size and also nice and loud. When you hold this speaker for the first time you won’t believe the sound that comes out of it. It’s my first b&o product and i am very happy with my purchase. I know it doesn’t have the best battery life out of all portable speakers but when you hear it and your like me, you won’t care. Anyway a simple fix is a portable battery charger and your good to go. Very portable, beautiful build, sounds incredible.Highly recommend (update) after using this speaker now for a few weeks, i’d like to add that this speaker does get hot at the bass, like make you want to turn it down hot.

Only caveat is that the text on the buttons is very difficult to read. Would be good with some “braille symbols” also missing battery indicator on connected phone (android).

Nearly £200 is a lot of money for a compact bluetooth speaker but not a lot for something from bang & olufsen so this is tricky to value for review purposes. The packaging is suitably premium and the unit is supplied with a usb to usb-c charging cable, a rather hard to follow multi-language instruction booklet and a leather hanging strap attached. Green may not be my choice of colour but it looks very well made with a top made out of metal alloy and a rubberised plastic base. The speaker is approximately the circumference of a cd/dvd and about 2 inches tall so it is portable but you are not going to be able to slip it into the pocket of your jeans and it has some real weight to it coming in at 600 grammes. It is very stylish and minimalist with no obvious buttons until you notice the symbols around the base. There are flush buttons to turn the unit on, adjust the volume and select functions but a hard to find and fiddly to use, a definite case of form over function. The unit is compatable with the b&o play app which apparently allows you to activate your most recently played music at launch, personalise your listening experience and use two units to set up (a very expensive) wireless stereo pairing. I was not able to test this as the android app has not been launched and the ios version was not in the apple store for my ipad 3rd gen, usually a sign of incompatabilty despite it running the latest version of ios 9. As this is pre-launch i have ignored this in the rating though.

Excellent piece of equipment. It is light and compact and the quality of the sound is superb and sounds like it is coming from a top of the range hi-fi. I’d definitely recommend this for playing your music from you phone around a pool laying in the sunshine with a cool beer.

Stylish portable speaker with a lovely clear sound. It has been really interesting being given such a lovely piece of kit to play with. I didn’t find it quite as portable as it suggests in the advertising – its about 12. 5cm across and 4cm deep and weighs approx. 575g but it is a very portable speaker. I took it on the eurostar and it came up on the scanner and i had to have my baggage searched but it was allowed through. It did take me a moment to get to grips with the on/off, bluetooth connectivity buttons and they do seem to be switches of some sort under a smooth flexible skin. The manual was tiny but very straightforward – i was amazed – so many manuals are awful – but pleased. You need something that is bluetooth enabled to play music. I have been using my laptop and my amazon music library and my phone.

Good sound from the b&o a1, not to much bass but when it is there it is clear and crisp.

Yea a little expensive but what a fantastic bit of kit easy to pair and to operate. Yea a little expensive but what a fantastic bit of kit easy to pair and to operate and sound quality is what you would expect from a b&o product. I can really recommend this product.

You won’t quite believe how good this is. You won’t quite believe how good this is.

Great speaker, terrible app and stero pairing. The sound quality is wonderful, so is the design and feel. However, do check out the reviews of the beoplay app. It’s essential if you want to make two of these work as a wireless stereo pair and is a thoroughly disheartening experience. Update: having negotiated the app and paired two of these for a stereo experience – when working the sound is wonderful, but the pairing is unreliable and intermittent, really spoiling the experience.

Nice product design but lacking bass punch and battery life. Well designed product with good, analytical sound; could do with a bit more punch from the bass frequencies. Battery life nowhere near the advertised 24 hours though – more like 8 hours at medium volume.

The bluetooth connectivity is awesome as is the sound quality.
