Altec Lansing inAir 5000 Airplay Speaker System, Great Party Sound via Airplay

Fantastic party audio by way of airplay. I was fortunate enough to buy two of these for under £100 every from a effectively-recognized website’s ‘daily deals’ in july. Having had them for virtually five months, i sense that i can deliver a assessment now. I use itunes from a personal computer, and have ipod and apple iphone. These speakers were being pretty effortless to set up, and link to my wifi network, using an app on my telephone. You can hook up direct from a unit to one particular speaker set or hook up to (up to) 3 speakers when taking part in from itunes. I have been taking part in music from my computer through its related speakers, the two inair speakers, and a compact stereo (by way of an airport) – so 4 sets of sepakers all-around the dwelling actively playing the same tunes. The audio is completely synchronised, and the high quality of the tunes from the speakers is remarkable to that from the other resources. It is also excellent to that which i had beforehand been having by way of bluetooth speakers. Negative points: a lot of the positive aspects of these speakers are confined to its airplay facility, and so these are most effective employed with apple solutions.

Pretty, warm, in-depth sound. After much investigate and deliberation about which airplay enabled speakers to invest in i chose this just one. At this cost it was excellent price. Testimonials ended up blended amongst the experts but looking through between the lines this appeared the greatest acquire for us. Each my wife and i really like the audio we get from this device and its adaptability. It is also incredibly nicely constructed and thoughtfully place collectively. We really don’t personal any ios equipment but can play just about anything we want applying rogue amoeba’s ‘airfoil’ computer software to any airplay speakers which consists of an airport express that feeds our hifi separates system via a dac and now the altec lansing. We can also engage in music to it employing itunes. All from a pc and our wireless network. We can also plug in our ipods and cost them at the same time.

Critique of altec lansing inair 5000. This really is an excellent product:- shipped within two times- appears fantastic- seems to be good & so does the distant. I linked my laptop (non mac), ipad and iphone inside minutes. All are now interchangable controls for the music. (phrase of caution, you will want a decent wifi sign for the locale of the speaker and the product which is managing it).

Following accomplishing a good deal of investigate into airplay speakers i made the decision to purchase the altec lansing inair 5000 as i was following a speaker that is loud enough to use at parties. The inair 5000 gives wonderful seem good quality with amazing foundation. It decreases the foundation concentrations at higher volumes so that the seem won’t get distorted, which i individually see as a benefit. The inair 5000 effortlessly beats other airplay speakers in this rate bracket (£150). It also will work seamlessly when streaming songs from my macbook pro to the two the inair 5000 and my apple television.

Although you can in all probability inform how amazed i am with the product or service from the title, i must issue out a couple of facets that people may perhaps not be common with. To begin with, airplay is an apple particular aspect. On the other hand there is program out there that will allow you stream music, exterior of itunes, from a computer system. I’ve just read about streaming from winamp, but i have not experimented with that nonetheless. Location it up is quite easy if you download and set up the apple application, for your ipad, apple iphone or ipod contact. Basically run that app, connect to the speaker with usb, and adhere to the prompts. It is a bit more complex without the need of that application nevertheless. If you really don’t have much of an thought about connecting to unique networks and so forth. As soon as all set up and linked to your wifi network, it is routinely recognised by the apple equipment. For the dimension of the device, the sound excellent, and quantity it will access, is really extraordinary, while i haven’t found a way of altering the bass degree nevertheless (it has a bit also a great deal bass out of the box for my liking). Without having hesitation, 5 stars. The cost needed to fill the house with them :).

Altec Lansing inAir 5000 Airplay Speaker System : This is an outstanding speaker and excellent value for money. It was easy to set up and the sound quality is brilliant.

I have been pleased with the overall performance of this speaker and would. I bought this speaker from richer sounds in october 2012. I have been pleased with the overall performance of this speaker and would recommend it as a good (and much better value) alternative to the b&w zeppelin air. Having recently encountered an issue with this speaker where it failed to show up as a selectable airplay option on my macbook and iphone i have been prompted to write a review in the hope that it will be helpful to other people who have bought this speaker and to respond to the 1 star reviews. It is true that the altec lancing inair5000 app is no longer available in the app store but it is possible to configure the speaker wirelessly with a computer following these steps. (the steps in the instruction booklet could actually be much clearer). Turn the speaker on and press the reset button on the backwait around 30 seconds for the blue light to start flashing purplepress the “wi fi connect” button and the main light will start to flash yellow / orangeget your computer (mac or pc) to detect wi fi networksthe “inair-setup” option should appear as a networkconnect to it and then use an internet browser and type 192. 12 into the address barenter a name for the device and click applychoose your home network and enter your usual wi fi passwordconnect your computer to your usual wi fi networkinair 5000 should now be an available option in your sound output settings (at least it was for me on my macbook)the airplay icon is now available again on my iphone too.
    • This airplay is a great unit, dont know why the few reviews are bad. Great bass and very clear sound and you dont need the app to set it up. Just follow the manual instructions and use browser setting to connect it with your wifi which doesn’t take more than 2 minutes to get to work. The best thing is it works with both android as well as apple. For android streambel is the app which works fine for me.

Brilliant delivery service, i received a couple of tracking alerts so new exactly what time it would arrive. The packaging was fantastic and the box was pure class and smacked of high quality. The speaker itself is reassuringly heavy and very well made. Very easy to set up and can be linked to tv ipad, iphone etc instantly. Very rich sound, heavy bass and amazingly loud at full blast. The only disappointment is that if you like gaming, the wireless xbox controller conflicts with the frequency on the speaker causing an annoying crackling sound making it unusable. I haven’t got a wired controller to test it to see if this resolves the problem, however my guess is it would. The tech department was very quick to respond, but as they have not been aware of this issue before they could not offer any solution to it. If you get a graphic equaliser app as well the music can be tweaked to your own personal preferences.

Altec lansing inair hi-fi system. I’ve been using altec lansing speakers for quite some time now and i must say i’ve never run across a bad set, but that’s just my experience personally. I have a pair of their traditional hi-fi speakers which date back to the 1990’s. I had them imported from the us a few years ago and they’re absolutely fantastic. I decided to give the inair a shot after seeing so many positive reviews and then having a listen in richer sounds. One interesting thing about the inair, it’s the complete opposite to its b&w rival in terms of performance. B&w’s zeppelin air performs best at moderate volume levels because its subwoofer bottoms out when you get to medium levels; where as the inair performs better at higher volumes due to its subwoofer being highly sensitive the midrange and high range frequencies can be too quiet for some listeners. More than anything though it depends where you position the inair. I personally prefer the inair to the zeppelin air because it sounds good at pretty much all volume levels, as well as that you have to think of the practicality altec lansing has been manufacturing speakers twice as long as b&w. Anyway getting ont0 the reviewthe altec lansing inair is an all-in-one 2.
    • This speaker is quite solid and a little bulky but plays really great sound. It does not get used as much as expected as it is not quite portable – it is a big speaker.

Good value but too much bass for my taste, and as there is no way of adjusting this i decided to look elsewhere. Eventually settled on a minx 100 which was more expensive but gives a far superior performance (including an adjustable bass).

Although you can probably tell how impressed i am with the product from the title, i should point out a few aspects that people may not be familiar with. Firstly, airplay is an apple specific feature. However there is software out there that will let you stream music, outside of itunes, from a pc. I’ve just read about streaming from winamp, but i haven’t tried that yet. Setting it up is pretty straightforward if you download and install the apple app, for your ipad, iphone or ipod touch. Simply run that app, connect to the speaker with usb, and follow the prompts. It is a bit more complex without that app however. If you don’t have much of an idea about connecting to different networks etc. Once all set up and connected to your wifi network, it is automatically recognised by the apple devices. For the size of the unit, the sound quality, and volume it will reach, is quite remarkable, although i haven’t found a way of adjusting the bass level yet (it has a bit too much bass out of the box for my liking). Without hesitation, 5 stars. The expense needed to fill the house with them :).

Love it – but be careful with your wireless signal. . I love this product and at the amazon/richer sounds price it was a snip but ensure that your home wireless is strong enough in the part of the house you want to use it with airplay. If too far away you may need an extender. The connections via usb are fab and easy and also by jack plug. The sound is terrific (some may find it a bit bassy). Change ipod or iphone settings for the equaliser to find a happy medium if you think the bass is too raw.

Review of altec lansing inair 5000. This truly is an excellent product:- delivered within 2 days- sounds good- looks good & so does the remote. I connected my pc (non mac), ipad and iphone within minutes. All are now interchangable controls for the music. (word of caution, you will need a decent wifi signal for the location of the speaker and the device which is controlling it).

Lovely, warm, detailed sound. After much research and deliberation over which airplay enabled speakers to buy i chose this one. At this price it was great value. Very good sound, good simple instructions making it easy to setup, well built and good lookingexcellent value for money too.
    • Awesome airplay speaker, but not perfect. I agree with the other reviews about the sound quality. I also have a sony xa700 and i got this altec because i wanted a second speaker and it is cheaper than the sony and has good reviews. What lets this altec down for me is the lack of equaliser. The sony xa700 has one in its app so hard can it be for altec to include one. The bass on the altec can be overpowering on house and electronic music whereas the sony produces a lovely level of bass without overpowering the mids and highs. Perhaps it is just a personal taste but giving the user the option to put a leash on the subs would have made the altec perfect for me and probably a better buy than the sony. If you are a bass head then you will love this unit. You neighbours probably won’t though.
